3.8 k likes still waiting he barely broke 29k views highly doubt he’ll do it probably just said it for the likes and views. Most likely gonna shoot it like a compound and not like Fred bear
And yeah, many many many of the old english longbows were around that draw weight. It literally fucks up ypur skeleton when you shoot it for decades and decades. SO cool
The shoulder on your lead side will slowly grow larger. I’ve heard of some lifetime archers having their backs and shoulders be lopsided in their advanced age. Gary Chynne made a video about it awhile back.
Yeah he's a bit of a maniac. Draws war bows with no finger protection. He admits he has no feeling left in his fingers. Not for me but everyone to their own. He's got good form when he draws these monster bows. Very interesting channel.
lol a Warbow is totally different than a compound, I have shot a 160 pound war bow. These things take time to build strength for. I also have special workouts for this type of shooting if your interested, but one thing I will say, do not at all whatsoever use the compound archery form, warbows require a total different type of archery form. And historical archery is a great guy and he’s a good friend of mine. He’s an absolute beast with shooting heavy bows and not too many people in the world can do what he can do. And it gets strung with a stringer.
Looking at the history of Asiatic hornbows, there was a bunch of records of tests(regional battle readiness tests)and people were able to pull back and shoot 240 lb bows for war. In fact in The records it says Bows for children are any bow under 60 lbs. The most common draw weights were between 85 and 140 lb. The crazy thing is is these bows were fired from horseback... In the testing they had a special award for someone who could shoot a 3500 grain arrow 110 yd. This usually required somewhere around 135 to 150 lb bow
In case you didn't figure it out Josh, the second vid with the fishing bow blowup, the string broke while holding it back. It's why the arrow didn't move. Looks like the loop on the top cam gave way. You can see the string drop down in the slow motion
The 200 pound bow is made by a guy call archey bowman on ebay. I have one of his 75# bows. He regularly makes bows way north of 100 pounds as the typical English warbow of the medieval times were around 140 pounds draw. The arrow you shoot traditionally at these high draw weights is wood dowel 1/2 inch thick that tapers to 3/8 in thick at the ends. I think the weight is like 1500 grains on them. The guy you watched regularly pulls 170 pounds bow and the guy he mentioned, Joe Gibbs, also typically shoots a 160 pound bow, there's a bunch of videos on UA-cam with him
The dude from the last video is Jack from Historical Archery. Check him out.. His contents are mostly about historical war bow which is very interesting. You guys should colab though.
About that 200lbs bow... I think Tod Cutler might know something about that, where to get one and a dude who can shoot it. I forgot this fellow's name though, but he's in Tod's archery videos often.
You have to watch Todd's Workshop, those guys are in England and there are episodes with guys shooting the English Warbows up to 200lbs. those warbows in heavy poundage were the norm back in the day. It's entertaining watching them shoot. BTW they are not always the biggest guys.
with the bowfishing bow, he was using a split finger draw and pinched the nock between his index and middle finger, causing it to pop off the string, and he dry-fired the bow. With those shorter bows you kind of need a release because the string angle at full draw is too much and will often pop the nock off the string.
When I started in archery, I bought a used Hoyt viper ll….. set at 70lbs draw weight. I did manage to draw it back…. Barely…. Right up until my bow grip hand slipped and the bow came back into my hand. The 1/2 inch thick string guide pierced right between my middle finger and ring finger between my knuckles about an inch deep on my right hand. It took a year to heal….. I now use a diamond infinite edge pro properly set up for me
This is my first video of yours. Have you never heard of Joe Gibbs? He is THE archer! Guy shoots a 240lb bow fairly often. I am just getting into archery to learn it the medieval way with the hopes of getting to an 80lb longbow. I've got injured shoulders so I'm using archery as my way to stay healthy, so my first bow is only 25lb but its built like that 200 in a longbow style. Exciting stuff, I want to learn to shoot with the arrow on the inside and the outside, since both were done historically in war.
Hey Josh, Gerhard from South Africa .Thanks for your awesome videos , I'm completely new to Bow hunting, watched almost all your videos and learnt a hell of a lot. i have been invited on a hunt in July to join on a hunt.My budget is small and wanted to know in your opinion what is the best entry level Bow.Thanks and keep the videos coming, learning all the time.
You got 91k likes on the short you posted about it… and 4.7k on this one.. where’s the 200lb bow test? Waiting to see it… 😂good luck! Most I’ve used is 40 lb on recurve… and 70 on compound… 200 is INSANE!
You should legit react to Jack's videos (Historical Archery/Weapons). He routinely draws 120lb bows with ease in addition to other ancient ranged weapons. Awesome channel, think you'd get a kick out of it and might wanna get some of the different historical designs he features.
Talk to the "freak of nature" Dash Rendar, who seems to regularly shoot 165 and 175 lb war bows. He might be able to give you some ideas on how to string a heavy bow like a 200 pounder. I don't think he would be able to draw a 200, but I might be incorrect.
My bow I used for hunting buffalo in africa and brush bull and water buffalo in Australia is 220lb and has a 1200gr home made mechanical broad head and surprisingly it's been holding up against everything I put it through and it still works ever since the day I made it the 4 blades on it looks like a perfect 3 inch X cut on every animal big game I hunted from the last 4 years
English longbows were commonly well over 100 lbs. Practice with them was mandatory for everyone on a Sunday I believe at various times in history. The skeletal remains of English archers are easily recognised due to compression of the bones of the left forearm.
the chap with the two hundred pound longbow? very interesting fella. "to serve in the Saracen army an archer must be able to shoot three arrows in under one and a half seconds" or words to that effect. remember when that ancient manuscript was found and everyone in the modern archery world dismissed it as wartime propaganda, which to be fair made sense and i for one didn't think much more on it, it made sense. then Lars Anderson did it and everyone said "yh but he uses a twenty five pound bow, he's a trick shooter it can't be done with a warbow". i really Wish i could remember his name but that chap with the two hundred pound longbow is one of a few who have done it on a warbow. by the way, i as an englishman born and bred over many generations am about to assure You the english longbow and archers were not the best in medieval times, not even close, that accolade on both counts belongs to the ottomans. their bow is undoubtedly the pinnacle of recurve bow design, ok i don't have a manchu bow but they're a little on the long side for i liking however the fact remains that pound for pound the only bow i have which outperforms the ottoman bow i have is the compound bow. so yh the pinnacle of medieval recurve bows is surely the ottoman sipahi. the modern Turkish traditional archers still learn and practice the same way. they start with an extremely low poundage bow with which they first learn the technique for drawing before they are even given an arrow to use. once the technique has been learned and practiced they then receive a slightly heavier bow with which to throw at a close range target. this is known as torba training. the range they start at is their outstretched bowhand with the bow held out by the very end so it's the length of the bow plus the arms length. bare in mind the bow is usually no longer than four feet. they teach to throw a minimum of sixty arrows per session until they can hit the bull at such close range every time, then they graduate to three arrows in one bullseye with each arrow touching the others. at that point torba training becomes torba practice, done daily with a minimum sixty arrows thrown. traditional, no sights and no centre shot bow. the thinking is if we can accurately throw the arrow that close then we won't miss at range. it works. saved the best for last. torba is done with both arms, sixty on each hand so the ottoman archer just like the modern traditional Turkish archer is ambidextrous. so yh, easily better than the english longbow or our archers...
That’s me in the video, thanks for sharing!
Hey Jack! I started archery all because I first saw a short vid of you pulling a heavy bow.
Ready for that 200 lb bow video

Hey I’d love to see you do a challenge and see who of your friends and followers could pull the heaviest bow! I’d jump in and give it a rip!
Do it !
Historically, it’s almost a War Bow
I’ve seen the 200 lb bow video he used a stringer to help get the string on. Think it’s still floating around on UA-cam
Here to help get to the 3k and watch you pull 200lb bow
Yeah he's jack fang. How did your 200@28 attempt go 😂
Talk to the "freak of nature" Dash Rendar, who seems to regularly shoot 165 and 175 lb war bows. He might be able to give you some ideas on how to string a heavy bow like a 200 pounder. I don't think he would be able to draw a 200, but I might be incorrect.
5k likes! Get the bow
I think in the fish hunting bow set up he was pulling the string and the arrow fell out

I've pulled 110lbs and that was more than enough for me.😂 I won't go over 90 now

Definitely do the 200lbs... you can do it!!!!!!
So when will you get yhe bow?
the chap with the two hundred pound longbow?
very interesting fella.
You should do a podcast
Can we get a trophy room tour?
