Bermuda Chubs
Yep
Vile.Dont eat!
@@josephprimavera2545 they can be eaten nothing wrong with them
I'll give you a Bermuda chub
I feel like he knows this and does it just for comments lol
I am a Mobile native and I love these videos thanks very much sir
Those unknown fish you mentioned... In Australia we'd call them Silver Drummer or Buffalo Bream (Kyphosus Sydneyanus). They are weed eaters and the flesh is greyish and not that palatable, especially Western Buff Bream (Kyphosus Cornelii)..... and the shark was a She, not a He. No claspers behind the ventral fin. :)
Bermuda Chub is the fish you were asking what kind it is. They actually have a couple of color phases, one horizontal stripes and the other is darker background with white spots or splotches. Same fish though. I think they are algae eaters mostly, seaweeds.
Definitely chubs. Taste like hell and will poop all over your boat.
@@bryantculler3468 I don't know what they taste like but I do know what they eat so for me, I'll pass.
In Hawai'i those fish are called Enenue. They feed on "limu" or algae and have a strong flavor to them. Because of that strong limu flavor, we make Poke out of it. That way you don't have to add limu to the poke (just be careful gutting them or you'll ruin the flavor). My favorite poke!!
@@curttimmbch He is an idiot and he reversed the order of what he said was on the plate
I'm not sure if you have them on the East Coast but on the west coast underneath the Barnacles we sometimes find these worms that look like centipedes. They're a greenish color on the top with a peach colored Underside and about a hundred legs... we call them piling worms.
I would almost bet if you dropped one down there with very little weight, you can stick a face mask in the water and watch them brawl over who gets it!!
I love these GoPro underwater clips I see why you like to go out and fish these oil rig structures the fish also seem to be a lot bigger on average out there than they do in closer to shore awesome video👍
Up here in VA them spades are highly sought-after. Love catching them. My biggest is just under 8 lbs
People in Florida treat them like trash fish!! I know people in Chesapeake who own a boat just for Spade fish!!!
Super interesting man! These are a nice change from regular fishing videos, and really educational.
I spearfish the rigs off the coast of louisiana and it looks just like that here. Those platforms are incredible reefs/ecosystems.
Next time you head out, bring a mask, snorkel and fins and jump in. You’ll be surprised how many fish there are.
This was great Brant... Thanks for this, and thanks for taking us along with you on your fishing trips.... Joe
Great underwater video always entertaining to see. This one is a big step up an oil rig, next time we will be strapping the cam to a nuclear submarine .. Lol and I'm looking forward to more
🤙
Those are Bermuda chub
Love the underwater video. Just don't know how you didn't drop a line in. Go back and catch one of those big Barracudas. Great video.
ua-cam.com/video/NU9kbrxzzWQ/v-deo.html
These videos are awesome! There's no shortage of interesting stuff in the ocean. Would be cool to try to see around a shipwreck of some kind. the rigs are cool too!
My hubby and I love watching your "Go-Pro Camera Drops" every morning with our coffee! The scenery is so beautiful and you have captured all those gorgeous fish so well!!! Thanks a million!!! ❤❤❤
I really enjoy your underwater videos using your GoPro. Please keep them coming!
👍
I've been watching your contents for years Brant and I have to say thanks to you for your dedication to us as subscribers who tune in each and every week. I even went and created my own channel because I was inspired. You're awesome Brant.
great show! thanks so much. Impressive snappers. Looking forward to your next show
Enjoy the underwater vids Brant as always. I know that with the Spadefish after a certain time of the year they are hard to catch because they start to feed on the jellyfish. Up here in Virginia we catch them big around April and May timeframe after that its tough catching them like you said.
Great vidieo Brant!! That misterios fish, in Hawai'i we call them Enenue...I think they're called Chubs or Rudderfish, or something like that, on the mainland.
Great video! Love seeing the fish and learning about them. Thanks for putting in the effort to show us what’s below the surface.
Btw, the one you couldn’t identify is called a Chub.
He is correct...Chub.
Bermuda Chub is what we called the in the Keys
It always cracks me up when liberals say how bad rigs are for the fishery but it's one of the best places to catch fish.
We tried for spade fish over a wreck in hatteras using canned clams on a small j hook. Got to come up but wouldn’t bite, heard they’re great
I could watch this ALL DAY LONG, & never get bored of it. Thanks for taking us along.
I think that fish you were asking about is a chub, also called a rudder fish. Here in Hawaii we have a variety of those, the local name nenue and they're know for making really great poke. If you want a killer Hawaiian style poke recipe reply to this comment
they are delicious!!!
My favorite poke!! No need put limu kohu in da poke bra!
I caught a Spadefish that was 28" Long out of St.Augustind FL. on a live Pinfish(3-4")on a flatline 15 miles out! Surprised me for sure
really love seeing all the fish down there... now i know how to see whats under the water! would always be wondering, great idea. how much is a gopro?
Dang, seeing the fish is almost as good as catching…
Well, no, but fascinating as all get out! 👍
your mystery fish are bermuda chub. they eat algae as well as the poop of other fish, which is why they tend to school with other species. *NOW YOU KNOW.*
Can jellyfish sting you from just residue left on braid after dragging across one? They are thick off the beach
Possible
I know that's helpful but
ABSOLUTELY YES ! It'll quit burning when it dries out but as soon as it gets wet again the burn returns. Not too bad unless you throw a net like I do and wind up with jellyfish across your face and mouth.
Yes it is possible
I enjoyed the underwater footage. That shark having a piece of his tail missing was interesting and crazy, I wonder what got a hold of him? Thanks for making the video!
Wow that Cuda looked as big as me! Cool video. Go Noles!!
The name of that fish called black chub are yellow bill chub in Jamaica 🇯🇲
You are so right about the spade fish they are great to eat 👍
Love your work dude. Please keep it up
I do believe those are Bermuda chubs. The fish colors are so different seen in water or in the boat.🇺🇸🇨🇦🇺🇸
Thanks for the video. That would be pricey if a big fish came by and decided to eat that GoPro
Always love the underwater videos
Something huge just out of sight down there. Aquatic ecosystems are awesome
Bermuda clubs, they'll poop up your boat
I think you meant Bermuda chubs...
@@tomlockwood6599 thick fingers lol
Love the underwater videos! Amazing seeing the life under the boats.
@UCvAZjWfYhbnlYKU-cmcy8Pg these scammers are everywhere!!!
Bermuda chubs
We always called spade fish angel fish and ate everyone we caught.
Those fish that you didn’t know are Bermuda chubs
Sweet video. I have done this a few time on some local creeks to show my kids what's under the water. They were shocked how many fish were there you could see from above.
Hey Brant, first time watcher. What boat are you running in this video? Thanks!
WARNING THERE'S A SCAMMER IN THE COMMENTS. He's telling people they won a prize and need to send him $60 for shipping. Don't get scammed
Bermuda Cubs make excellent AJ bait. Caught a 99 # AJ on an 8# Chub it pulled 101 # of drag an Avet Quad Drag T-Rex ... 🎣🐟🐟🐟
Why are there always cracking and poping noises underwater next to a structure or at a reef?
I can catch a fish, reel it on in
Take a little selfie to show all of my friends
Cause I can throw a spinner, or I can throw a crick
Impressin' all the girls while they're tannin' on the bank
Grab a little hook, bait a nightcrawler
Hold down a second, something's peckin' at my bobber
Hooks set in the lip, makes me want to take a dip
Have your buddy take the pic, yeah
I can catch a fish
I just wanted to see it slowly drop down deep but I guess the camera can’t handle it? I don’t know. This is super cool to watch though. However, my passion for all these different species gets me a little annoyed when I hear about how great they taste. I don’t know, call me a softy but I’ve changed as I get older. I see these beautiful snapper and then I see what could be the same fish dead and frozen. Unless you’re starving without food turn em loose. #catchNrelease
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:13 KJV
Don't know if you get paid twice if I watch it again seems like I pick up something else every time you're doing a jam up job. Tell your buddy Ron I have nearly stopped watching his he hardly shows a fishing video he doesn't know how to fish anyway but I don't want to see his wife in every video that wants to talk over him. I thought about inviting him here to teach him a little but he would bring her. Don't get me wrong she is OK as a person and sure a fine wife. I'm not sure lake fork could take 12 hour days with her talking over him
Great video! I wonder sometimes if our oceans are being depleted with all the fishing worldwide but right there it seems the populations are good!
Some of them are and have been overfished. Bear in mind this is also @ a rig rather than open water
I know an area off Louisiana where every April the giant bluefin tuna come and key on those Chubs. I mean full grown ones.
The mystery fish at the 1:10 mark is a Bermuda chub. From what I understand they taste awfully and smell even worse if you attempted to cook it.
Am I missing something I don't see the fish around the rigs feeding on what is there .Please comment on what's happening .Not much of a fishing person Thanks
The fish you said you don't know I think is a Drummer fish or black snapper
Hey Brant FYI you have people sending scam messages thru your comment section
wonder how big that barracuda was,if anyone knows hell please let me know ok that would be awesome.peace!!
Yup Bermuda chub, there in the florida keys alot to, iv eaten them before there edible but not preferred they got nasty green shit in them...
Spades and trigger fish are some good table fare. Pain in the butt to clean but worth it. In Texas we have a limit on them.
If you like learning, this is a jacket not a platform, they are put in place when oil has been found
Bryant I believe in South Carolina they use jelly balls a type of jelly fish pieces for spade fish
I’m surprised you’re allowed that close to an oil rig… maybe I have a paranoid bent…
Hi Brant. What's all the noise under the water? Camera noise or organisms?
How far from Pensacola pass ……..?….? Can u gave location
Fish in question are Bermuda Chubs. Thend y are good for nothing and consume large amounts of your chum. If you'll invest in deep water cameras you'll likely get video of some bruiser Grouper. Be the first and you'll have a mesmerized and captive audience. At depths of >300' there's a good chance you can catch a glimpse of Warsaw Groupers. Deep water cameras will require illumination but video like that can reveal the eco system most will never see. Those types of cameras aren't nearly as expensive as you might think.
Tied my gopro to my fishing rod and dropped it under the boat. Question How did you get it back
Big thumbs up thanks for the video 👍😀👍😎👍
How big was that barracuda and do you would see more sharks in the evening
I just learned their names last month and those are USMC seargent majors lol
The fish that was swimming with the almacos were Bermuda chubs.
How much string you got? I wanna see the Mariana trench and Atlantis 😏
They look like giant harbour prech to me
I love spade fish. You should do a catch clean and cook. I find they are hard to clean.
Brant, are you allowed to freedive and spearfish in AL or FL waters near the rigs or is there a set safety zone / distance away you have to be if you are spear fishing?
There are videos of other people shooting fish around them.
Your unidentified fish is a Bermuda Chub
I'm from California I wanna go back home to Alabama where I was born
those fish are called CHUBS...at least that's what I was told on st thomas
What’s up Brant
The fish at the start that u didn’t know what they were are called Bermuda chub
Glad I'm not a fish there lives are super boring
Bermuda chubs they smell like shit but taste pretty good
Those are nice blue runners in the beginning. How far offshore is this rig?
They are called (chub) thanks for the diving trip. 👍
I went close to the same spot as y’all and it was 11.2 pounds
Love your videos from Corpus Christi Texas
Brant - do you have control of your gopro or just drop it down?
The unknown fish are Bermuda/Gray Chubs.
In hawaii that's called a Nenue , or chub fish
I wonder how hard it would be to find some wire or maybe even a fish tape or screw together Rod’s to use with the camera for more control hope you’re using a strong leader line ?
I bet there are some giant six gill sharks at the bottom of that rig.
Beautiful!,.,my family lived in Acapulco for 35 yrs, and Snappers were so cheap, we loved them!!! So many different ways to prepare them ❤
Really neat I enjoyed it a lot thank you Steve
Love these videos great job 👏
Why don’t you just enjoy them and do not see them as only food?
The Spade fish is like a saltwater bluegill…
Looked up Sergeant Majors and it said it’s a Damselfish. Woulda been cool to have known that during my Navy career. I’d of loaded that on my Sergeant Major buddies in a heartbeat. 😝
That’s not a giant platform. That’s just a baby. Look up the Olympus Platform in the Gulf of Mexico. It’s like a floating city
