Am I the only one who sighed at this video when dire looked at the quests, seen silk leaves, made sheers then used most of it's durability on normal leaves without trying to complete the silk leaves quest?

Stav Zeevi So that's how you get wood chips! I have been looking for that recipe for so long but never found anything explained how to get them.
I think he batch-records anything that involves Pahi, so he's probably well past the point where he needs to compost in any real numbers by the time this went up.
Still, it's useful to know for future playthroughs.

Which is kinda funny when you're near bedrock and happen to have that one climate control block, and it's nighttime while you're in your 1x1 water puddle during the winter.
Came to post the same thing, there are seasons and when winter hits cold is definitely a factor - Dire doesn't seem to think cold is a thing in this pack, but it absolutely is, I hope he figures it out and they get prepared!
Also, vanilla crops die in the winter, but not Pam's crops. TAN seems to go directly from summer to winter, too. (Unless this has changed since then).

I wonder if modpack makers will ever make a reverse forever stranded, in that you start in the arctic, and have to keep warm.

There was a mod pack where you start off stranded on an ice planet. I forget the name of it right now, but it was a similar thing, you start in a crashed ship capsule and it has weather and temperature effects. Plus I think you had to deal with the possibility of meteors and stuff.
There is such pack, it's called Hypothermia
That side box sure is a not confusing at all and completely fun collection of not even a little bit random information that is absolutely simple to understand.

Actually it's really handy to have around. For instance, the 'season' number. Now you know what the current season is, so you can expect the hottest temperatures in summer, and the coldest in winter. But really, it's simple math to know what the numbers are telling you.

Cookie The little Cockateil They explain in the first episode that that's not actually lava, it's water that's been made to look like lava using Chisel. It's a bit cheesey for them to use it to cool down, but not really since they had a water stream flowing out of the back of the ship anyway. It's just more convenient.

Dire, you can use a hoe on coarse dirt to turn it into regular dirt.

Try to dig under the ship (around middle, 3-4 blocks deep), there is a hidden chest there.

If you dig down, in the ship somewhere is a hidden chest with random goods inside, and there are hidden chests everywhere :D

Thisisgaming there is a mod that makes it so if sugarcanes or cactus is planted on snad, it actually does grow faster.
Lukestarcutter incorrect, the whole point of the mod was the rumor that sugarcane grew faster on sand, but it didn't. So somebody made a mod that added a new block called "snad" which sugarcane actually grew faster on, and this *never* affected cactus growth.
done use puji sticks, build your wall out of cactus in a checker board, mobs can't get in and you can harvest the topmost blocks
And then a sandstorm breaks your cactus wall because sand piles up next to it. Also, the cactus would likely destroy mob drops if the items touch it.
it now takes nine small stones to make a piece of cobble. the grind is realer than ever before.

You're probably far enough in to have figured this out, but all seeds die in the three winter seasons (early, mid, late) but they grow otherwise in any temp.
Sieving in the sun takes time and then cooling down in the water takes time. What a pity that there is sooo much waiting in this pack...

Well it's minecraft. Modpack makers have yet to understand the difference between difficulty and artificial difficulty. We all thought they did with the Crash Landing / Blood and Bones era, but it was just a lie... or they forgot...

SkyFactory 3 has those new Sieves where you can place multiple next to each and they all work if you use one (in a 5x5 area I believe). So there is the "vein sifter".
Also they have the heavy sieves which can sift compressed stuff. They just need 6 iron for the bars and it's infinitely better.
well, skyfactory is probably the exception here because Bacon wanted it to be fun and not to be too grindy (I never played it though as I am not a big skyblock fan as I like exploring).
The Holy Cow of Progression. If you watch modpack makers talk on Twitch, they all think you need to work for every tiny bit of progression in a mod as possible, and it often means a lot of grind to get that automation (quality of life and anti-carpal tunnel device, really). And when in doubt if something is cheesy or not, just drop a nether star in the recipe.
Hopefully they can speed up iron production. Otherwise getting off the planet will make this longer than any other series Dire has ever done. Not exactly a bad thing, but I really want to see him push into Advanced Rocketry enough to either do a full review on it or count that way from the game play. #onesmallstepfordire

That temperature thing is pretty much the reason why I'm not playing that map. I have like 30 min to 1 hour per day time for gaming and I don't like havin to stand around in water for huge chunks of that time..
The pack is made for people who play a lot of Minecraft and can take their time with progressing through it.

I have not been able to not die of heatstroke. Like, wtf. I did just manage to make the slimey armor, so maybe that'll help. 😳
The multiple seives should still work
Would the lava work to chisel to move? If so just get a stone chisel and each cut off 2 lava bits place one when needed and you can remove it with the other bit. If that works no more heat problems.
i dont know if its in this pack but i remember seeing wooden shears somewhere, if it is in it would have saved you a bunch of iron.
Actually, you can get too cold if you have the cooler thingy and step into water.

That being said, you should have just walked west to the town and get stone from the road instead of sifting dirt. Get books a the same time and other loot. If you're lucky like my you could find a desert temple on your way and get 6 iron for 2 buckets to make the cobble generator.

well I'm curious if he'll get to that point where crops fail, and even standing in water isn't enough....I had such a hard time with this pack, it might have been updated, but I starved and caught on fire, and got killed by soooo many husks. I'm amazed he got a bed and a wall done so quickly.
Couldn't they chisel up the lava and water and spread it over the floor of the ship to make the entire thing good for cooling?

if u break the second there is a chance the cactus will land on top of the bottom one and delete, cause cactus kills entities.It doesn't get better stuff, just makes sure you don't lose it.

It's just re-colored water. Chisel & Bits added the ability to do the same to liquids.
If you play this as single-player: make wall out of cacti in very beginning and you thank me later :)
in a checker pattern two blocks thick wall. it kills mobs, sand can't built up next to it and it grows all by itself 3-blocks tall, no need of Pahimar.
i thought pahimar turned hardcore OFF on episode one, guess i was mistaken since dire said that its on this episode

What does the number in parentheses next to the max target temp mean? Is there only sand and bedrock? (no stone / ores)
The world's layers are only sand, with one layer of bedrock at the bottom. There are no natural stones or ores.

You cod easily make a wall out of cactus. rather than wasting resources on a wall and spikes.
Cactus will break when a sandstorm piles up sand around it. Also...destroyed mob drops. Their point of killing mobs outside the wall is to collect their drops.
ZakTheFallen currently they aren't getting mob drops they are just letting them like up. and the cactus are easy to replace if the sand piles up. and the sandstorm don't happen everyday.

I MrRunnyBum I I believe you need to download the correct forge server and there are some tutorials on how to set up a server so it should just be the same, just using the forge server.
You could also just use LAN, although it doesn't work for anything beyond your bandwidth...
Someone's Side Channel that's not a server though

yeah, I personally also have done it too often. I am even annoyed by now when I have to do a smeltery again. I wonder what other mechanics one can do here so that you have still some goals but maybe better distributed and not only behind grind.
In Forever Stranded (and also Crash Landing before it) the part of the pack that's most interesting to me is the early few days when you're really in danger of not being able to keep up with things like food and temperature alongside your other basic tasks. Once you're past having to spend most of the day making dirt and sifting stuff, the management of those things becomes boring and trivial. Those challenges don't scale well.
It wouldn't be that extreme if Dire realized that he could compost wood chips. :D
I do wish people would make more packs like Material Energy ^3 or whatever it was called. Adventure-driven non-grindy CTM style maps shouldn't be relegated to vanilla!

question for you or anyone who can answer me actually. I've recently gotten into pc gaming. first thing I went to is modded minecraft. i downloaded twitch for the ftb modpacks. downloaded forever stranded and sky factory 3. the profiles randomly were gone but I hadnt made a lot of progress so i thought nothing of it. downloaded sky factory 3 and once again lost it. now I have lost it a third time and currently have a lot of progress and dont want to restart again. ive found the profile by going to the curse folder in documents including all the old slyfactories and forever stranded. the question is how do i get those to appear on the twitch app again
