Dire finds small crate recipe... comedy gold. :)
Was not disappointed.
Have not gotten there yet, but I have been waiting for this moment!
stevesolaris and literal gold too
OMG, I was waiting for his reaction to this! I found it hilarious!
I have been waiting for this moment since last episode, lol!!!!
To everyone playing along at home (and Dire, if he happens across this):
- Bagginses. Make them. Use them. Love them. As an added bonus the pickup mode prevents accidental destruction of mined items due to lava. And they can be upgraded once you get steel.
- An Ender IO tank can pull directly from a coke oven, and once you feel like just voiding the creosote oil (you will) it can push into a liquid trash can.
E:
- If you want an early tree farm, look up Chopper in JEI. There are wooden, stone, iron and diamond versions, they can run on basically anything burnable (including the wood they chop which they autoinput into their fuel slot if empty!) and are able to use Tinkers tools.
I didn't know that bagginses had a pickup mode. I made two sets of forestry bags, one for the ores/gems and one for the junk cobble/gravel. Great to hear about the liquid trash can. This pack truly is mining intensive. I keep running out of coal and copper.
Yeah, shift + right-click switches the mode with the bagginses bags. I'm not quite up to forestry bags myself, but I might switch to those when I can. Being able to filter the drops is so nice.
It certainly is mining intensive! Iron seems to be my biggest problem so far, granted I've stayed in the calculator age for a while now, trying to get a good power setup going.
Yah, I just moved my entire setup into a house and of course the house is too small. That's the problem with building nice instead of organically building to plan for the stuff you'll put in there. I'm up to the calculator age as well. Check out ChosenArchitect's series....He's much further along and is very methodical on his setups. (not really a plug....I just have been finding his videos helpful)
Gonna jump on your comment to also provide a bit of advice that'll help people out.
Peat. Bog. Farm.
All you need is sand and dirt (you'll get dirt over time) and when you hit IC2 age you'll be able to make those tin cells that'll help make 8 bog earth each. Peat itself is a great backup fuel for keeping your generators running and keeping a good influx of power. That and if you did what I did and go for not only a macerator but an ore washer asap (with a ender IO tank ontop) you can use those tin cells to hold water and keep the ore washer running constantly.
After having watched the episode I'd like to add two more little things:
- Tinkers' crafting stations can access the inventory of an adjacent chest or other storage container (tested with a double chest and the small storage crate). It's very handy for things like the hammer and wire cutters dire kept going to his other chest for, as well as just usual items you need to use a lot of. Rubber, cables, plates, you name it!
(I don't know what happens if you have both a furnace and a container adjacent to the crafting station)
- Andesite, Diorite and Granite count as smooth stone for most recipes. There's not much other use for them, so hey, I'll take it!
dire last episode: "ha metal former doesn't need 4 diamonds, what are you talking about"
me, screaming at the screen: "there's a recepie you didn't check in the metal former"
me, now: "yep, told ya"
Petar Tsankov same
Yeah - that's what he's getting for prerecording episodes before we warn him from stuff like that in the comments.LOL
Petar Tsankov Yup, me too. His reaction was hilarious, though.
That was so me last episode too.
i knew its gonna happen some time. The guide was right about that.
18:36 it seems that extreme surprise causes Dire to channel his inner Santa Claus.
should be tc (top comment)
Ep4:
"34 iron. Whooo thats alot"
Ep24:
"128 iron? No problem"
* proceeds to pull the two stacks out of 10k iron stack in AE system *
Jajaja :D
eva 2020 Not in this modpack, its gonna take a while for him to get to AE
Daniel Macias not really
"The metal former doesn't need 4 diamonds!" He said.
"I don't need a compressor to make it!" He said.
"let me do the math off camera"... proceeds to do it all on camera.
x y and wrong
On a note unrelated to the episode. You can push/pull lava from the smeltery tank with the ender I/O tank. Also clicking on the smeltery drain with the tank in your hand will put one buckets worth of lava in.
Can also make and cast obsidian blocks in the smeltery so access to it without having to mine the stuff.
Which means I got right past iron pickaxes. I make a stone tinker's pickaxe, get enough iron for a bucket, find some lava, then swap in an obsidian pick head. Now I can mine everything I care to.
The Block Cutter is what you should make before the Metal Former. With Macerator and block cutter, it only takes 9 gold ore to make the metal former. Also the Block cutter saves you tons of time making iron plates.
Not to mention allowing you to make the obsidian plates needed later. Block cutting machine is awesome.
This is probably my favorite series yet! Keep this up dire!
Still TODO: Stairs ^^
-t u forgot 9x9s lol
9x9 stairs
yu uh yu uh yu uh...the noise that goes through my head going up those full block staircase out of the mine
I figured I'd let you know that the reason your crafting screen is closing randomly is due to the furnace directly next to it having finished cooking an item. I can't recall for certain, but I believe it's a known bug with Tinkers Construct. I would go verify that with Boni though, just to be on the safe side.
18:40 hahaha ive been waiting for your reaction for 4 episodes now
Wait till he works out that the metal former recipe requires dense pressed plates, also more diamonds. Tho I admit this series got me interested in modded minecraft so I grabbed the pack and mirrored Dires world.
Dave Hollis USE ALL THE DIAMONDSSS for real though. 8 diamonds for a macerator? dang.
Yeah,, some of the recipe changes are harsh. :D
The whole pack is harsh. Just so much crafting, waiting for painfully slow machines, no cheesing of early game ic2 power (No regular furnace charcoal, no geothermal gen) Im always mining and the ores seem less plentiful than say FTB Beyond.
I was referring to FTB Beyond's ore distribution, not ease. It might just be my imagination, it might be because I dont have a 3x3 mining tool yet, but the ore hauls are not as big. I still find this pack fun as well.
I'm actually finding the pack super fun compared to any other I've played in the passed. I would have the agree that the ore generation was drastically decreased and I feel like I'm mining all the time with very small hauls.
LOVE that you picked up and started a Let's Play series on this pack! Thank you!! I decided to try it after watching a couple episodes from ChosenArchitect play the pack. I enjoy watching his videos as well, but I am so happy that you also chose to make a series on this pack as well! Keep up the work!
"Assumption is the mother of all fuckups" -Under Seige 2
Soooo the book don't lie!
I'd advise everybody to build the new TInker's Furnace (Yes furnace, not smeltery) instead of an ic2 one.
Yes this is a good idea!! Very worth it. Speed is nuts, and doesn't require power.
oh wow, it really is fast, thanks
I absolutely love hearing the other people living with dire! It makes him seem more relatable, and like more of a real person!
18:34 DireWTF20
I love the "I'm being really stingy with my coal" -- cut to me chucking 10 coal coke blocks into my generator
The 56 slag to make the IE blast furnace is a pain to get just due to the air and time needed but so worth it for the set and forget steel becomes after that.
so i find out dont right click a bed in mining world bad things will hapen
This just showed up in my recommended after 5 years, can’t believe it’s been five years since this series wtf
The reason Qvist has you make the compressor is because the IC2 blast furnace needs compressed air cans to work, to get slag for the Immersive Engineering Blast Furnace. It's not very bad if you think about it.
Dire: "not doubling ores is wasting ores" .... what about Mekanism's 5x ore system???
Gabriel Girard Yeah... I have still not managed to get higher than 3x in Mekanism. The solar evaporation towers are real expensive.
His build order, so far off the best mark. Macerator first, yes. Then a set of single use batteries made from hydrated coal dust. Using redstone to power the maceration of the coal. Then use those (loop as needed) to make power until you have the compresser, and then the metal former. THEN a generator. Then wires and batbox and wrench and electric wrench.
I actually ended up making 4 forestry bags for ores and 4 for cobble/etc. and then brought my tool table and bronze in a Bagginses bag. This pack is incredibly grindy so it's good to just mine for a while and collect as much as you can.
You can repair tinker tools on the go using Sharpening Kits, at a cost of two ingots worth of metal per kit.
No matter how many times I hear him say "bat box", and I know that i's a battery box, I keep thinking of a box for the bat animal.
A little tip, I definitely made a low voltage solar array as soon as I could, because you will go through a lot of coal.
When you discover the small crate recipe.... COMEDY GOLD! :)
Minecraft $19.99. The sound of Dire's voice when he see's the recipe he missed, PRICELESS!!!!!!! :) Great Episode. lol
Brad Priceless until "Community Edition" comes out...
Brad minecraft is $19.99 now? I want my $6 back..
as far as power is concerned, get 8 solar panels to make the LV compact solar array - 8 EU/tick for free, enough to run any one or two machines except the metal former, plus the blast furnace, indefinitely.
IC² furnace stats:
power required:
10EU/t
speed:
1.5x furnace speed
fuel:
Energy / charged bateries
hope i explained you everything :P
How much does 1 coal produce in the genrator?
I just went exploring and found some villagers that trade steel ingots. Got 1 1/2 stacks with very little effort lol. You can get almost all the metals from villagers now. The jam guys are op as heck too because they typically have a broken buy/sell loop that gives infinite emeralds.
The reaction to finding out the recipe was the best!
There is a newer item from Tinkers that you can use to repair your tools in your inventory. I can't remember what it's called off hand, but you can make a cast for it, then pour the metals in, and carry them around with you for repair on the go. Handy early game when you don't have RF on your tools and you need to repair while mining.
Sharpening Stone, I think it is.
Same feeling when I found out about the compresor and the diamonds con the metal former xD
Dire, Pro tip in JEI & NEI: "|"(not the letter I or l) acts as an seperation. This way, you can search for multiple recipes, without deleting the recipes.
lol i was WAITING for him to look at the Small Storage Crate recipe... :3 the day he started posting vids of this pack, i started playing as well... i had the same thought, like whaaaaaaa? XD GG ErnstLustig and co (pack creator)!! :3
3:00
Replace math with meth in every sentence...
:D
The generator doesn't waste coal from what I've seen.
it does because when you have machines working they don't take power as fast as the furnace makes it and as soon as the furnace is down even one eu it burns another piece of fuel, which wastes fuel.
The double crafter from neo tech is incredibly useful and cheap. It has two crafting windows which is great for this pack and all its rabbit hole recipes
I wonder if Enderman will make an appearance
Also Dire, you should make all your 9x9s in the moutain
A 5 minute ad that I can't skip. Great job UA-cam! Force people to get UA-cam Red.
Thats their plan... but people will probably get an adblock...
In the #DireTime !
Dire, if you make a sharpening Kit of the appropriate metal you can repair your tools in your 4 slot inventory. Lets you extend your mining trips by a large margin.
Am I mistaken that I remember a ingot to plate recipe for the compressor, I'm sure dire was like "na going straight for the metal former"
that was the techReborn compressor, guess that recipe is also tweaked, but I'm not sure
Now that he has a compressor and maybe steel en mass taking in account backlog, he should get a tool forge. And he can upgrade now. Cast a stone pick with aluminum brass, pour any metal in cast, put pick axe with metal puck in tool station, it'll replace it. Or could just sharpening kit obsidian on anything. Makes it still cheap to repair, but able to mine Ardite/ Colbalt
Pick not puck...
awesome Modpack thx you Direwolf20 for giving me so much fun
love the series. wanna see you finish it
Dire, if you put torches in your offhand, it's like the old style of right click to place torches while mining, with pickaxe in hand...
dire forestry mining and digging backpacks are easy to make and a nice have. I have 2 of each and it realllllllyyyyy helps
The DireDerps abound.
You could use bronze sharping to repair on the fly during mining sessions
Wait until he sees the empowerer recipes hehe
Confirmed: direwolf has ADT security
Ah Diremath, how I missed you.
Hey dire, spend like one lapis to put fortune onto your pickaxe. Will level up as you mine. Makes you get more diamonds
@Dire, why are you using those Furnaces? Hae you forgotten that this version of Tinkers adds the Seared Furnace?
DIREDERP INCOMING!
You dont need to cook smooth stone. Turn Diorite into slabs and then turn the slabs back into blocks and they become smooth stone... No power no coal.
If you really wanted to be efficient, you'd make only the macerator, feed it redstone in the battery slot and first thing macerate a piece of coal in order to make some single use batteries.
I use IC2 batteries at the beginning, you need 3 for the batbox anyways
you can hold shift when looking at a recipie to stop the shifting combinations of all the materials accepted... XD
macerat'er? i barely know'er! badum-tiss.
Delete this.
homerun chippah!
coolio series! Got me back into minecraft!
you know whats odd? everybody hates gregtech, but many are playing this pack which does most things like gt does
This is NOWHERE as bad as GregTech though. In GregTech all the recipes are very complicated, each machine requires a lot of different components, each of which has a whole chain of required pieces with a dozen or so ways of attaining them. It doesn't bother me personally, I actually like this nature of GT, but most people simply don't like crafting a single machine for more than 10 seconds.
Holy crap this is tedious. They should rename the pack "Age of Masochism".
Linerunner99 Infinity Evolved expert mode was even more of a hell
I'll take your word for it... since I ain't ever gonna check it out for myself. lol
Linerunner99 Yeah Soaryn took a long look at the crafting, closed MC and erased the pack.
All this time using the hammer when that compressor can make the plates 1 to 1....
I don't think it can. 9 ingots in the compressor turns into a block, one ingot alone does nothing. At least in the relatively current version of AoE I'm playing.
PLEASE DO THIS MORE OFTEN I HEART AOE
You should do a stream on this tomorrow because you canhave help when you need it
Dire question could u go for a solo series which is more relaxed - like dont be so prepared and stuff with less edditing - i know its not ur style rly but ive been a long time viewer (sinse like ur lets play season 3 or 4) and think ull do it rly well
Love your videos, Dire. :D
26:19 I did not know these things
i think i may not be able to watch dire play this modpack.... his derpiness makes me sooo angry. I'm lying of course I'm gonna watch this
Sea, face palming all the time, I hate it! But I love it also, I will watch the series :D
Dire, don't cook up smooth stone. The 3 stone types from vanilla can be used in most recipes.
also a recipe to convert that enviromental stone type into it in but forget how many you get for the 8.
Conserve now. Rocket later! #whyweoredouble
"this is math I did not do" somehow me
Make some freaking stairs!!!!
Ik this is an old episode, but I just noticed that you could have made th gold plates in a compressor. One ingot was one plate.
Computer fried, but this is a good supplement until my new pc parts come in.
i does not waste coal by putting to much in THE generator the flames does slow down
Hey when are you going to get a skin?
He has a skin. The DireWolf20: 1 pixel change.
people always say he changed 1 pixel on his skin but i havent seen proof of that yet so
Ok ok but still it would be cool for him to have a wolf skin of something right
The reason he keeps a vanilla Steve is because he wanted to keep something vanilla considering all he does is modded Minecraft stuff.
Dire, I love you!
So if you watch this in .75 speed it sounds like dire doesnt know what he's doing
sigh. no bone meal but skips Apatite. gg.
Since your pick gives exp, why not give it the repairing moss? plenty of cows around to make a bookcase xD
First of all, good video! Second, how big and heavy is this modpack?
Magmatic YT only about 104 mods. but you need to allocate around 5gb memory for it.
bullshit.
What's so great about tiny coal?
This is probably too late since he probably made the video already but I reccomend going for a solar panel so you don't have to spend coal on powrr
And he did so much math wrong...
Diretime!!
Ic2 makes me crazy normally with all the recursive microcrafting. Still want to play this pack for some reason tho
Ic2 and Gregtech gave me bad memories thats why I wont play this pack.
I miss the old days of IC2 before they "Greg'd" it out.
I do like the gated progress without actual quests. Just.... pick some other mod for early tier.
You can't. The way this pack is structured you have no choice as to how to progress. You're locked into a linear path of mods.
18:35 AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Why is there a hammer spinning above a gold halfblock? Did I miss something in the series?
Hey Direwolf, I'm playing AoE too and when I came across the full recipe for the metal former I was thinking to myself, "This is gonna be a job and a half!" And I'm still trying to find the diamonds I need for it. Aside from the 10-12 Y axis, is there any trick to finding diamonds? I was thinking as you were going through the recipe "You have miscalculated this!"
7-11 in pack, same 0.12% on each level.
I ended up mining a lot at 8 or lower to find them, but they were very sparse. I finally ended up just mining for a long time until I grabbed a few.
I put a tunnel at y 10 and just did a very long 3x3 ending up in extreme hills getting me some emeralds also. Im sure I missed some deeper down but it kept me above most of the lava.
Stone pick head with a bronze sharpening kit lets you mine everything and still repair with what you are mining. Durability is nice but repairs that are cobble cheap are better when you can carry a tool station with you to repair on along the way.
Forestry backpacks for mining and diggers also help extend the trips as each holds 15 slots for a single inventory slot used and are cheap and easy with flax growing everywhere. A crafting table can also be carried or left in a central slot to compress cobble down as you can convert cobble to seared to extend the smeltery or use it to make stone ladders.
Thanks guys, some very helpful tips there. I will let you guys know how I fair later.
Thanks for the advice guys, I was digging a 3x3 tunnel at Y:7 for ages, only to find diamond just as a dug out a side area for a lava pit for excess cobblestone XD.
do you even sleep dire
How do I launch the AoE pack? i have the file downloaded but i cant find how to launch it now that curse and twitch are integrated together.
Christopher Shaw Go to the Minecraft tab in the Twitch launcher. If you can't find it (its a Creeper face) look into settings to see if you need to activate it as an addon.
ok thx
yeah
DIRE add mouse tweaks thats what you need to make your life easier
