    The original's front end had a gorgeous balance of soft and sharp lines, particularly around it's headlights. This new design is a lot less expressive, it's a sad day when you have to admit a Porsche looks like a Hyundai.

    to everyone saying that depreciation hits these cars the worst just take a look at prices for the BMW 7 series BMW, 8 series, Mercedes S class, Audi A8 and similar cars. Depreciation hits luxury cars and cars that have a lot of technology the most, it’s just how it is. The Taycan lost half of its value in four years which is pretty average for those types of cars. These are great cars to lease when they are new and buy when they’re used.

    Given the prices of cars in the current market, the base model is very competitively priced, and given the current prices of Porsche's offerings, the base model is a relative bargain. Unfortunately, for owners of the old model, I suspect we're shortly going to see Taycans for sale under 40 thousand pounds, maybe even low 30s for those without the extended range battery. And the reality is that the vast majority of people don't need more than a 200 mile range 90 plus percent of the time, just as nobody needs 900 horsepower. It seems to me that older Taycans are quickly going to go the same way as old Panameras, and will maybe even drop below 20k sooner than you may have thought. It'll be interesting to see how prices end up compared to Tesla Model 3 Performance versions as they both continue to age. The Taycan is a nicer car than the Model 3, but it has much poorer range and it already has a reputation for electronic glitches, whereas the Tesla doesn't. Interesting times. Lots of issues to sort out. But ultimately, I like the idea of an EV for commuting, even for long journeys as charge times and infrastructure improve. As long as ICE remains in the mix, and you can still reasonably run an ICE 911/Boxster/Cayman I would be happy enough. All that said; if the new Taycan resolves all of the problems of the first generation cars, it's got to be a winner for Porsche.

    Talk about tone deaf. The presenter doesn't mention once that the current model is haemorrhaging money in the second hand market. Nor the paucity of 350kw chargers in the UK &/or Europe. Nor how (un)popular these cars in particular - & EV's in general - are in the US. Seems really amateurish, the whole thing, to me.

    The Taycans are pointless. I was considering buying one yesterday, only to discover that 21-inch wheels come with summer tyres, and you cannot purchase winter or all-season tyres for that size. This renders the car useless, as driving it safely in conditions less than 7 degrees becomes impossible. Summer tyres simply don't work effectively in the cold, and they can split. Being a heavy EV, this makes the car VERY dangerous. Living in the UK means the car would have to sit idle on the drive for four months of the year. It's laughable; they don't inform you about this, so be cautious before making your purchase. You can easily verify what I said through further research.

    • @peterhammer6915
      @peterhammer6915 7 місяців тому +4

      I have been driven my Taycan in Finland and Europe for 3 years now and didn't understand anything you said. My Taycans tyre wear is way less than anything I have owned since 1977 when I bought my first Beetle. I am still on original summer tyres with 5mm deep grooves. My earlier M3:s both E92 and F80 had to buy new summer tyres every year. My winter tyres are almost as new. This is the 3rd winter in Finland. I have 20" on both summers and winters.
      And I am not a slow driver.

    The Taycan is a great car, but I like the older model, it was distinct, this new model seems to be too much alike all other Porsche models, even somewhat bland, depending on the angle you see it. Even the new Macan now has more personality. The interior is now much cheaper, no more the luxury full Race-Tex interiors of before, what is a shame, and just two basic vegan interior options. This refresh can be summed up in just two words, unfortunately: cheaper built. No way anyone comparing would be buying a Taycan for this price instead of a Lotus Emeya for example, a car much superior in every aspect.

On my recent trip to my local Porsche dealership, there were countless Taycans parked up, all with battery problems. I spoke to a couple of the owners, and they told me it was ongoing issues with th batteries and they were frustrated with Porsche due to having to drop the cars back to the dealership - and there is no courtesy car provided, to boot! I'm sure most TVR owners would prefer something quicker and more reliable. Like a Taycan.

    Over sized over weight, who really wants 600+ BHP it’s just completely ridicules, almost everywhere we drive there are speed restrictions, 2.3 tons, is crazy, why not make it smaller lighter with a much longer range, Harry’s Garages a respected man, said recently about the stupid relentless drive for more power, he didn’t buy a car because so much power with the knock on affects that has, 300bhp is quick, also so wide their are now parking problems in the U.K. over the standard parking bay size.

      The cars are heavy due to weight of the batteries, as a result more HP is required to get them moving fast.

    Why would anyone be stupid enough buy a brand new Taycan when there are 2021 models selling for 30% of original sticker price.

      Why would anybody be stupid enough to state that 2021 models are selling for 30% of their sticker price? Look at Autotrader, the cheapest 2020 ones with more than 50k miles are going for over 50% of their original price. 🤡

    The new taycan family is ahead of Tesla in every aspect, including range, charging and track performance. As a result, Tesla has gradually changed from being a full-fledged trolley car maker to being more of a software company.

    Push to pass?? Why? Why? Why don’t you just have all the power available at all times using the trusty old accelerator? Why do you have to push a button to get 10 sek of it? 😂

  • @christianpolo8852

    The original prototype was the one they should have built; the Taycan is too big, too heavy, its styling is still not pure enough: too many useless details. It felt stupid feeling so cramped in a large car like this, hardly fitting on country roads.. Too bad.
    I really miss reasonable sized sports cars. Electric was supposed to bring more compact cars… Rich people are too fat?
