    Drafted 13th by the Blazers but he didn't want to go to that little town across the country. His career never quite took off in the NBA and some blame it on going to a team he didn't like but really he just wasn't good enough defensively. Too small and didn't play good team defense to compensate for his lack of size. A couple inches bigger might have made the difference for him but when you are sub 6" feet you're going to get posted on every possession. If he had played in this era of the 3 point shot he might have had a better career, if he had developed his 3 pointer that is. Still, he was fun to watch and had a nice career as a spark on offense off the bench.

      If we keeping it a buck, it’s only a few guards I’ve seen move that quick and be under so much poise and control at the high school level since then and that’s been 20 years. Not saying they haven’t been more talented, his control over the game and efficiency was off the charts. Players take to many plays off in todays hs sports.

That was just off looking at his game but I have been wrong before I would have sworn D Wagner was ginnna be a bigger Iverson 🤦‍♂️😂

    Even in looking back at the highlights the things you notice immediately are he is small. His handle is not very tight. He isn't getting good penetration and he isn't explosive athletically. What he had going for him at the time was being Steph cousin and playing at Lincoln which the movie he got game was still fresh in people mind. So you have the next "phenom" from Lincoln. But I think considering he had a fraction of the God given talent of his cousin he went pretty far. I think if he kept it real with himself on this he wouldn't be lashing out at others and be able to move on and maybe discover other talents and ventures.

      @Stoneygreat 11 місяців тому +3

      I disagree with this assessment. Telfair handle was tight and he was very explosive off the drive. His change of speed and first step was cat quick. He was doing moves nobody was doing at the time. The boy was dribbling a ball hooping while on roller skates. That alone says a lot about his handles. The ones that know really know. This video is a small version of what he was doing.

    • @thalivinlegend11
      @thalivinlegend11 11 місяців тому +1

      Physically, you are correct. Small, not explosive.
      Handle and skillwise, you are 100% wrong. He had elite tight handle, passing, playmaking , and command of the game.
      He was never going to be an elite scorer of the basketball.. he was going to be a CP3 type of player ..A great value CP3, so to speak.
      I've seen him play in person. He's QUICK. Not necessarily fast. Don't let this one game fool you, whatever you're seeing lol
