Big thank you, bought this phone with the idea it'd be future-proof with the specs, forgot phone batteries don't last that long. Changed it out in about 20 minutes, works like new now!
Haha, that was exactly my line of thinking, except I'd hoped that with only charging up to 80% I'd get more than two years out of it. Alas, looks like it is time for a battery replacement.
bro, thank you for this video!!! I just finished and successfully performed this operation also and i to took 1hr. I didn't want to lose any of the screws and I didn't use any heat gun ballsy
I 'just' finished this. Not as big of a hassle as it seems. My only real issue was the bottom-middle silver screw snapped the thread piece off the phone and was lodged into the frame. I had to cut it out. It happened somewhere else too but meh. The only pressurized connection appears to be the speaker. As long as you don't mess those threads up, you're good to go. I still gotta get some M3 to seal it; but that's for another time. Purchased new 2017, USB-C broke a few months in and has been utilizing wireless charging only. You take it off the pad for 5 minutes and *poof*.. dead. With a more powerful phone as my daily, this is now my gaming phone. Thanks for the video, it really helped!
I contemplate doing this to mine because the USB-C is dead. I gutted a poorly designed wireless pad and slapped it's PCB/ coil the the back of my case. Ghetto AF, but it works. xD
Yes, this can be done. According to this teardown video I'm linking you, there USB-C is screwed in. I didn't gander around much (though I need to do this too) but it is threaded in and powered via ribbon. Should be a plug and play situation. ua-cam.com/video/UGsICbmmfws/v-deo.htmlsi=kOGTNCYxoaA3yZ4n&t=232
Manufacturers are lazy and would rather have you buy a new phone with (hopefully) newer Android on it than have to deal with updating the Android on older phones. I really hate that they do that as the phones now are so powerful they aren't really throwaway items and yet the manufacturers are treating them as such.
You got that right. Honestly this very phone imo is still one of the best you can get but the faulty type c ports ruined that for a lot of people . But yeah i just know that once i replace my now close to 2 yr old battery, its gonna make a world of difference. Battery health affects phone performance far more than most people realize because its so common to assume slowdown is related to dated hardware like you would with a PC.
But yeah man, given the state of climate change and all the factors that contribute to it; knowing the hardware inside every device thats trashed is now #1 on the list for toxic pollution on the planet because so much is dumped without a thought because of greed is a hard pill to swallow. Amazes me that we'll likely never see advancements that lead to devices with long-lifespans, but instead will probably see the exact opposite all because it makes that much more for companies. I guess they dont care about their grandkids likely having to live entirely indoors their whole life because exposure to the sun will instanly burn them. Only if theyre lucky enough to live somewhere that hasnt been completely submerged by then that is. Oops im rambling sorry. Touchy subject
Just a quick question but i didnt notice any ribbon or other cable connected to the phone when you took the screen off. Looked like it just pops right off of the hinge. Is that the case or would i need to be watchful for a cable when i take my screen off. Thanks for your help and the nice video as well.
Razer Phone 2 battery model # is RC30-0259 which you can find on eBay amongst other places. I'd only buy from stores with very high feedback scores and with longer warranty, personally. I bought 3M double sided tape on eBay. Clear 3M transparent tape was 3M 300LSE 9495LE or what I believe they used here is black 3M 9448A double sided tape with tissue carrier.
@@philosophy4242 Sorry for the late reply, I only saw your message now. I haven't been able to find the USB-C charging port anywhere. I'm afraid it looks like you would have to buy a parts phone with a good charging port. From research I've done, the charging port module is a special board made by AT&S just for Razer and seeing as Razer isn't supporting the phones anymore I think there likely aren't any new parts being made.

I can't thank you enough... I just used this guide to replace the battery in my razer phone 2 and it was immensely helpful!!
That is ridiculously difficult. We need to insist on user replaceable batteries for all smartphones.
The EU recentlt passed some legislation which insists on it. Because not doing so produces More e-waste than absolutely necessary.
This was actually quite easy. You have to be delicate with the threads when putting it back together. The ribbons weren't a problem either.
It was ridiculously easy for me, bought a new battery from aliexpress it came with all the screwdrivers / separators adhesive required to do the job.

Question. How do you know what model your razerphone 2 is? Or you just buy any razerphone 2 battery online?
알리들어가라 게이야 다있다
Is the water resistance ruined once you replace the back adhesive like that?
That's disappointing. I wanted to do this with my Razor to turn it into an emulation machine, seems tough and more involved than I'd like.
