in the fall of 84' I decided I would design a bowie knife and have it made by a gentleman on Staten Island, Mr. DeIntinnis. I still have the original design on graph paper I used along with a french curve and mechanical pencil. I received it for 135.00 USD in early 85'. I still have it and keep it safe! Then lo' and behold Cold Steel came out with the Trailmaster in 87'. My bowie is flat ground, 1/4 154cm. A cross between the Trailmaster and an authors knife by the name of Robert K Spears. Then we have this bowie! At the time there were no factory bowies that looked like these designs. They all were severe clip point etc with very broad blades. I wish I could forward or post a pic of my bowie! another great video! OH, I was going to buy a cold steel 01 but when I saw the price, I balked. I recalled a chinese copy by Mtech , model 151. Found it on Amazon, surprise! for 27.00 door to door. after a few hours with various grit sandpaper the black epoxy is off the blade and the blade is blinding in the sun! Will continue to polish because I CAN! 440 some grade of steel. The Rockwell hardness must be amazing because youtubers have been literally beating on this knife for years! I am unaware of anyone actually breaking it! I am going to keep working on the edge. Paul Block sharpener not used yet, taking my time improving the edge geometry. Monotonous or therapeutic, I sway to therapeutic and relaxing. Mindless repetition.

That was a serious comment Ed! I can only respond with, of all the fixed blades that i own currently, this one will be the one and only. I will have to show you the bowie I made from a file in a future vid, I would love to see your bowie!

The day looked spectacular! The blade performed as I expected. I almost ordered one but opted for the Bark River Bravo 3 in 3V steel. Have a great weekend and thanks for the wicked awesome video.

I got this knife too...love it, even though I think my Falkniven Tor is perfect..even though it has slightly inferior VG10 steel. COS sharpness last longer..much longer..hence the MB gets the knod for performance and the Tor for the beauty of it's handle.

That was a bunch of "super fantastic" awesomeness. I've never seen the curl straightener feature in action. I bet it glows when orcs are near too. Thanks for taking us along on another enjoyable trip to the woods.

One thing people don't know and might find intresting about these handles is that they are almost indestructable. Check out Joe X, he cant destroy it shoting at it with pistol bullets.

I hear great things about this knife, but that price tag....sheeeesh.

For me as a knife guy, its a must have. On the other hand, this along with perhaps a small "do it all" fixed blade could be enough for some. For many, its beyond the price point.

@@JohnnyJuke I hear it's replicated from Cold Steels "Trail Master", which is half the price. not sure how they match on quality though. Theres just no way I could justify six or seven hundred dollars on a piece of steel.

      @@ShellShock11C it's all about priorities.
People that pay $600 for this knife know what they are buying and why.
You might just want to travel or follow stocks. It simply just come down to preferences.

That is one awesome looking and well performing knife.
But the cost (~610€), when compared to the very ugly but also well performing Terävä Skrama 240 (88€), is approximately 7 times higher.
Oh well, I need to lose weight anyway ....
