The "flip" is key, with these small logs. It sets the tone for the whole fire. Well executed, Wade. The F1X looks like a compact and functional knife & sheath combo. I have spent many days on trails in Sweden in the rain and damp. The trees in the wilder parts of Scandinavia tend to be birch and various conifers, so in that environment, corrosion resistance and decent toughness wins out over extreme toughness at the expense of corrosion resistance. So this is a knife that is designed for those conditions. Strong enough for surviving in the woods, but not meant for cutting through frying pans in UA-cam videos, and so forth. They do seem a bit overpriced, but on the other hand, Fällkniven's relationship with the Swedish military demonstrates a certain level of reliability. Boden, the town where the company is located, is way the heck up in northern Sweden, almost at the Arctic Circle, and maybe 250km from the Russian border. Boden is also about 250km north of Lycksele, where Casström knives are made, and probably 20 hours by car from Holmedal, Norway, where Helle knives are made. Road trip, anyone? Incidentally, when you cross into the Arctic by train, some Swede has painted the rocks white, and spread them out to look the the typical dashed line on maps. Swedes are helpful that way. But back to the main point, when you live in northern Scandinavia, you need a reliable multipurpose knife, so these folks deliver that. 🐻🔪☕
Nice comment my friend👊 When you think about it , everything about Fallkniven knives is pure function… and they function very well as you said so well. Take care buddy👍
Better fire stick than I could ever make...good looking pup amigo...if you know me, you know I love a four legged companion in the bush...I have not owned a fallkniven...some day perhaps...atb...woods
👊The 'dog people' must love you. Nice vid and nice knife. My buddy has an older F1 and lent it to me for a bit. A good knife but I agree it was slim in the hand. Perhaps not the best knife ever but it will get the job done.
Hey buddy, thanks for the comment. The original F1 is even thinner in the handle something that made me hesitate purchasing. I bought this knife on the used market for a great price👍
Thinking of getting the Elmax version myself. I am looking at $300+ though , where I live. Already have the new F1 Wolf ( Tungsten enriched VG7) , but this knife looks like a good choice also , as a good compact bush blade.
@@Woodswalker1965 Great video! I guess one of the reasons F1 and other knives in that series have a slim handle is because of the need to fit in a cockpit and not tangle up in anything id a need for catapulting.
Great video! Love the coffee and feather sticks. My Elsi (a shepherd as well) has the same fixation with chewing on sticks. Cold smoked bones. Where do you find yours? We have to watch constantly for splintering. Have liked the fallkniven knives for their utility. The most negative criticism about them is their price. Maybe someday….
Nice video thanks for sharing your experience with the Fallkniven F1X. I just purchased mine in Elmax and am waiting for it to arrive. I had to get it from Heinnie Haynes in the UK because not one reputable seller had them in stock here in the U.S.
Nice vid Wade, thanks for sharing, couldn’t get myself for buying a Fallkniven till this day although I know they mean quality, somehow they’re not a real pleasure to look at, it’s a matter of taste I guess 🤷🏻♂️😄
I totally agree Jurgen. It took me many years to buy one for the same reason. I just had to see what all the fuss was about I guess. Pure function, not pretty! 🍻
Do a review of Auroraborealisknives "Mountain man" when it comes out. I wana know how it compares to the "Kodiak". When i first look at it the mountain man it looks like its just a Kodiak with a fat gaping finger choil.wonder how the performance will differ between the two knives
Nice looking knife but like you say over priced. The Jaktkit knife does the same job if not better for half the price. I can't justify paying extra money just for the branding, Obviously each to their own. I do love my knives but the older I get the more I've come to realise that you don't have to pay a fortune for a good functional knife you can rely on in the field. I did enjoy your video as always and it's always interesting to see how these knives perform, so thanks for that. 😁👍🏻

Nova is a great dog! very attentive and playful.

Yes a great compact bush blade and a small sturdy (near indestructible) survival knife. I’m sure it will be quite nice in Elmax👍
@@Woodswalker1965 Thanks. It’s on my hit list because I like the F1 series lot. Looking at $330 for this in Can. Have a nice weekend!
I didn't know you get those coffee pots elsewhere (than here in Norway). 😊
Great pots, thanks for watching!😁☕️👍

@@TorArneHegna Yes that makes sense, the slim profile could strap to a vest and not get in the way at all. Great point!👍

Thanks for watching my friend, nothing better than a dog in the woods! The cold smoked bones were a gift from a friend, I usually feed raw bones.
Spent quite a bit of time eyeing a S1X...maybe pull the trigger one day...🙋♂
Hey Sean, I have the S1X as well. It’s a beast!💪😀
Best sort of review in my opinion. Doing what i do 95% of the time when out in the woods. Just sort of dicking around
Thanks, yes just wasting time in the woods. Good times! 👍

I enjoy my S1 but I think the the F1 being smaller would be a tad easier to use. They are bulletproof for sure
Ya I have the S1X as well. It’s a formidable knife but a bit on the large side for casual use.👍
what kind of axe is that one?, nice video.
Thanks very much, the axe is the Gransfors Outdoor Axe.
