There's Always Something.... LEGO Studio VLOG

  • Today I head to the studio and find something I'm not too happy about... but luckily there is a quick solution. In addition to that, check out these awesome tables that we got for the basement! They're beauty! Plus the painting is all done down there and the review station is ready! I built the last of the Ikea furniture and shelves for the studio, now the storage closet is looking fresh, and I can finish building the set displays!

Love your studio Bricksie. With regards to the garage door, I have a similar door for my garage at home here in Scotland (not as big as that obviously) and I have what they call a stormgaurd glued to the floor where the rubber seal of the door meets the concrete floor to create a seal. Its just a rubber strip that has lip on it and stops any rain water getting in. Might be worth looking into.

I was in commercial real estate for 10years… This happens alll the time… I’d call a roofer and make hvac pay… if they don’t want to, just tell them to turn in their Insurnace… plus roofer will do it right.

    Hi Bricksie.
Sorry you had a drippy start to the day, but pleased you are getting it sorted. I think the store room looks great with the shelving and all the bits sorted.
I'm sure you will be overjoyed once your table building supplies are delivered, and you can start that phase of the work. Your progress thus far has been phenomenal. Congratulations on coming so far with your basement and the Studio.

Mrs. Bricksie is absolutely awesome. And now I want that tuxedo cat set. Hoping the dampness clears up soon and doesn't leave any unpleasant after-effects. It was also good to get those leaks taken care of before bringing over the wood for the tables; I had a minor flood due to a burst bathroom pipe in my previous place just before moving, and because of the location of the bathroom, I lost half a dozen cheap bookcases that just sucked up the water into their fiber-board structures and swelled up and split. I had already packed up all the books and put them into storage, so nothing but the bookcases was damaged... but over four years after moving, I still haven't replaced all the bookcases partly because of the pandemic, and partly because I can't find any bookcases that cheap anymore; I paid $20 Cdn each at a thrift store for them, and can't get anything for less than four times that anymore.

The LEGO studio is outstanding! You could use a Garadry seal for that big garage door. It creates a seal between the door and the ground and doesn’t let any water or debris in. I have one for my garage door and it’s superb. Just a heads up as you might find it useful in keeping that area dry.

We just had a pipe burst in our laundry room and the water leaked down to our basement (my LEGO room). I spent the whole night transporting all my LEGO to dry haven while also squeegeeing all the water to the floor drain. I had a surge protector too that got soaked
So free advice: save what you can, and water proof EVERYTHING!

I would remove the carpet away from the doors and just tile those areas. Basically keep the carpet away from the doors and install tile that can handle dirt and water. Awesome you found the leak before you started assembling your LEGO City.

Hey Jordan! I just saw this video this morning, for the carpet, at my old place of work, the cleaners would remove the wet carpet and put it up for it to dry while the floor was drying. The water was making it easy to remove and can redtick once dry. 😊
