- The transition face shield is a great way to leave the sunglasses at home and feel comfortable in your ability to see at dawn, dusk, and full sun. I wanted to have a shield that wasn't always just clear or always shaded. With a helmet that does not have a drop-down sun visor, I needed other options. The transition shield is the best option thus far.
Replacing a visor should be easy, right? Well, I'm here to test that theory. This is half how-to, half learning as I go.
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
Thanks 🙏🏾 I was just looking at this helmet on yesterday and I love it. Now I’m trying decide on a visor. I’m subscribed
As helmets go, I like the safety ratings and noise reduction on it. That said, it's one of only two I've owned, so I don't have experience with other helmets. The transition visors and other shaded visors are finally available again for this model, so you do have a few cool choices. Congrats on the helmet and safe riding!
Awesome! Thank you.
Looks like a really nice riding area, where is this ?
good thinking
just came across your video how do you ride your bike ?
hey, at first please excuse my horrible language. i’m from Germany. 😉
what an interesting video and a really good tip! i have a Shoei NXR2. also without sun protection. so great that you show how you wanted to change the shield at the beginning. 😆 it’s not easy. it would happen to me too.
i think i should buy this shield too. what is the exact name or type???
i’m looking forward to see more videos from you. maybe you will present your motorcycle or your equipment! Take care and thank you so much …
The face shield is called the SHOEI CWR-F2 Photochromatic Face Shield. As far as I know, it's only for the SHOE RF-1200 and 1400. I got it from Revzilla, and it's been great so far. It's usually out of stock, but if you sign up to be notified, you can snag one as soon as they're in stock again. Thanks for the suggestions on future videos; I would like to film the gear I wear if that will help inform others. Tschuss!

Hi Matthias, NXR2 is european name for RF-1400. I have ordered my visor on Louis and it calls there "SELBSTTÖNEND CWR-F2PN". Don't forget to order a pinlock for it ;)
UA-cam says this video is 6 months old. Can you do an update video for this as to how well it works, and how dark it gets? Appreciate it.
That's a good idea, I should make a follow-up to this video now that I've been using the visor for a while. Thanks for the suggestion! I will make a video on it this summer.
Are you considering this visor or have one already? I will say it's been a great visor and I can't imagine ever going back to a clear one.
I never saw a transition visor, I'll look into those. I use sunglasses, and also pop down the internal sun visor if its extra bright. I tried a few helmets, and the internal sun shields are never as good as real sunglasses. Its annoying at twilight or early morning when I need to put on or take off my sunglasses. I don't like pulling over to stop on the roadway to mess with sunglasses or my phone or anything. A few times I have done so, I've had people stop to ask if my bike was ok. I guess they thought my Rebel was a Harley 🤣
I'm a little jealous of your internal sun visor. My first helmet has the dropdown visor but it's a size too big so I can't wear it. So this transition lens has really helped. Especially with the sun setting earlier and earlier, it seems the sun is always in my eyes
Why did they complicate this from the 1200? Pain in the .....
Was the 1200 easier to deal with? I will say it took a couple tries for me to get the darned face shield off, but it worked out and seems to be holding up well.
@mostdefjeff_ I got it but definitely a pain in comparison. The helmet overall is an upgrade of course.

Just a suggestion. I use electrical tape on the top of the shield to create a sun block zone. 2 layers wide from top to ward the bottom. Good job doing the change.
Thanks for the suggestion! Putting tape on your visor doesn't block your view at all, does it? I think the only thing blocking my view at the moment is all the bugs I have yet to clean off 😂
@@mostdefjeff_electrical tape is 3/4" wide. Put the first strip at the very top of the visor. Then you can use a second strip below that for as much as you need to have a block zone without obstructing your view at all. It will just block the full sun in you eyes as needed. You just tilt your head up or down as needed while you ride. Works great riding into the sunrise or sunset situations. Try it, you'll like it!
Transition visor is $199 on Amazon!
Thats's great that they're more available now! I got mine from Revzilla and remember having to wait many months to get ahold of this item. It's definitely worth it though
Thanks...I took my visor off to clean and fog proof it and I could not get it back on!!
Excit
I know what you mean...it took me a few tries to pop the visor back into place. Were you ever able to get it back on? I really like using the visor, it makes me feel better driving in full sun.
Too much yapping, and you didn't even show the transition visor when you went outside. Just you riding
