FINALLY!! I couldn't find a video that demonstrated REMOVING the shield on the RF 1400. The owner's manual only shows how to INSTALL the shield. I was having the same problem and decided to try the other side like you did and it came off exactly like it should. Great review! Those shields are out of stock everywhere but as soon as I can, I will be getting one.
Appreciate the review bro I'm about to start riding. I take my MSF in October and I decided on an RF 1400 bike and everyone talks about the photochromatic visor so looks like this is the way to go. Thank you again for the review!!! ride safe brother
I had to order a knock off version because Shoei has been out of stock. I like it 70% of the time during the day but man it's just not as dark as my stand-alone dark visor in dark gray. Sounds like you're happy with how dark this one gets during the day. When I'm driving when the sun is coming through trees or if the sun is head on in the later afternoon, this knock off version just doesn't make me happy. I'm considering whether the Shoei actually gets darker.
I had turned off of getting the RF-1400 in white but the contrast with the blacked out transition shield looks fantastic. I got a Bell Vortex in 2011 and got the Transition shield then and couldn't believe that most helmets didn't even have this available. Then I got my RF-SR at the beginning of 2019 and got the transition shield right away - totally worth it. My RF-SR is pretty beat to hell now so I'm shopping.
I love the RF1400. It’s light but compared to my RFSR it’s quieter and the air flow is better. I agree all helmets should have transition shields. Thank you for watching.
@@StevyFaux Thanks to your video I went out and bought the white with the transition shield this morning! Just wrapped up about 90 minutes on it. It's a pretty awesome helmet.
Damn. It. I just got the light smoke silver visor for my NXR2 (RF1400) at my local free PFS event. It looks great and I didn't want it too dark. As long as I don't need to squint during bright sunny days I'm good. I should have gotten this transition visor instead even though it was double the price. Insanely cool. Not just that, but highly useful!
Once you have one. You find yourself only shopping for helmets that offer one. Bell, sedici, Shoei, and Ruroc are the only ones that I know of that offer it.
Love the shield on my RFSR. Wasted money on a bell with similar visor prior. Shoei was a vastly superior product for my needs. Looking forward to the suspension video. Legends rears go on my bike soon, curious to know how much difference the fronts make
Out of stock for nearly a year. Supply chain madness. Revzilla had in stock only briefly and I happened to snag one. A week later and Revzilla is out of stock once again. So this must be a solid purchase. Should get this bad boy at the door very soon. Thanks for the review. Peace
Your welcome. It is absolutely insane how everything is on back order now days. I would think Shoei would see the demand and make a ton of them. They sell out within hours, the demand is there. They obviously sell everyone they make.
Thanks for a great review 👍 This is the 2nd video on the RF-1400 I've seen, I like your gopro attachment, I've seen a video on that. How hard was it to set or hook up your Sena? Did you do a video on that? Again great review, thanks 👍 Ride Safe Be Safe
Thank you for watching! The Sena is so simple. You just put the speakers in clamp the Sena to the side put your microphone close to your mouth and tuck the wires under the liner. Blockhead has a great video installing Sena’s. But if you need any help let me know. Also if you buy a sena at a Cycle Gear store they will install it for free.
It vents with direct wind hitting it. With a windshield or a fairing your not going to notice it as much. The neotec 2 will vent the best with a windshield cause I’m of it’s big top vent.
The attachment mechanisms on the 1400 is ridiculous ! I can't hardly get the clear one off, or on. I had to send the aftermarket dark one back after messing with trying to get it on without seeing the pins !!
I hear ya. It definitely isn’t as easy as my RFSR was. I have learned that after you pull down on the release of you pull the visor forward towards the front of the helmet it comes right off.
Ok got mine from revzilla.com. If you go to their site and search for the shield if they don’t have it you can put your email in and they will email you when they get more in stock.
I use the sticky mount positioned right above the red impact pad on the side, then ran the wires in between the red pad and the cheek pad. In the video I was still using the clamp mount but it made the helmet opening tighter.
Man I love it. It takes the guess work out. So many times I’ve gotten ready to go on a ride a though “I don’t need my clear shield” and almost every time I’m riding home in the dark with a tinted shield. Now it changes and I don’t even realized that it changed. It is worth every penny if you find yourself riding at nigh a lot.
@@StevyFaux Thats awesome, glad to hear it! I keep missing the small restock windows. I'm rolling with a clear shield right now, but I have a dark smoke on order to hold me over. I have also saved my original pin lock insert for when I purchase the transitions shield.
@@robscherer I got mine through cycle gear. You can either sign up to be emailed when they come in or you can buy one before they come in and you will have first dibs on the restock.
@@StevyFaux Awesome, just saw this and snagged one! I was able to cancel my dark tint visor from amazon at the same time too! Hopefully I don't get an email from RevZilla saying they made a stocking mistake haha. The picture still says out of stock, but you can put them in your cart and check out! I just missed a window on sportbiketrackgear over the weekend too. What's weird is I emailed Shoei directly last week and they had no idea when they were coming back in stock. Maybe the online retailers get a preference. Thanks again man!!!!
So I am new like new new at all this motorcycle gear and everyone telling me to get Shoei RF1400 but I didn’t want to bc it doesn’t have a second dark visor but this would fix the problem, Now the question is where do I get it from ?
@@StevyFaux sorry for my ignorance but how do I look for it ? Do I just type Shoei Rf1400 shield that changes with light … I am sorry but I am so new at this I am actually picking up my bike tomorrow and start lessons tomorrow 😬😬 sorry once again for my ignorance
@@ivanherrera7171 no problem. That’s why we are here. If you go to the website for cycle gear or Revzilla search for cwrf2 photocromatic or transition shield and it will come up. Is you walk into a cycle gear just ask them and they will know what your looking for. Or you can Google cwrf2 transition shield and you can hopefully find somewhere that has one.
@@StevyFaux I am very grateful for all this info , I found it online and it’s sold out but with my luck I went to exchange jacket that I bought last week and I asked them and they have 2 so I bought one , it says it was $209 and they have it for $189 .. I thank you for all your help
They still are if you read the directions which I have done now after I made this. You pull the lever on the side, pull the visor towards the front of the helmet and the visor comes, RIGHT OFF! My struggles in this video are my own fault.
@@StevyFaux agree reading the instructions help, especially take note of Diagram 2 and the positioning of fingers and force, though it's not intuitive and when the previous RFs were much easier when replacing a clear from the early morning to a tinted on the roadside as the sun heats up. The only advantage with the RF1400 visor is when it locks in, it is in, the earlier RFs you needed to be certain it was fully clicked in both sides.
@@StevyFaux I’m still trying to figure out if it’s worth it for me. I’m sure it’s better than bringing 2 visors but I love how dark the dark smoke is I can’t decide lol

Cool. I have a transition visor on my Bell Helmet. Live that feature

Yes it is. No more carrying two visors around. Takes the guess work out of it completely.
Just got the transition shield. It’s fantastic. Was worried it wouldn’t get dark enough. But it does. And the rf 1400 is hands down genius.
