  • War Alert: China intercepts submarine detector dropped from U.S. aircraft in South China Sea.
A video posted on Wednesday by Yuyuantantian, a social media account affiliated with China Media Group, said that China had learned about the deployment of a submarine detector on a U.S. military aircraft in the South China Sea. In a recent patrol, the China Coast Guard or CCG saw an American military plane circling the South China Sea and dropping mysterious objects many times. Shortly after, CCG recovered and examined these unknown electrical objects. Near Ren'ai Jiao, sometimes called Ren'ai Reef, the device was dropped by the U.S. military. The U.S. plans to build digital ocean maps for military purposes and analyze information related to Chinese submarines.
Meanwhile, Last week's clash between Chinese and Philippine forces in the South China Sea left several injured, raising the specter of a future scenario that could trigger the U.S.-Philippine Mutual Defense Treaty or MDT and spark a great power conflict.
