Listen to more Ariel Pink's songs here bit.ly/2vHKcMs
I found out recently that the bass was Ariel's first instrument - no wonder the basslines in all his songs have been incredible, even as far back as the songs from the Doldrums.
I Wait for Kait is ones of the absolute most bizzare and labrynthian bass structures ever. Dude is a hugely underrated bassist.
I feel like he was fucking destroying it on the bass since thrash & burn
Among dreams
Love your music..Hang in there..
Glad someone else enjoys the bass line
With or without shrooms or LSD....this is a timeless classic. My heart is full.
I'm addicted to that Summer surfing feel of the song
+takk78 That happened to me, but I got into rehab and now I'm okay
ClueSign hahahah
Look up I Follow You by Melodys Echo Chamber.
Goes great on a playlist with this, as a mellow balancer with the same instrumental vibe
One of the best songs ever! Play it LOUD!!
"Bright lit blue skies, you're so full of lies". Do you ever feel when you're down the weather is laughing at you? I think this sums that feeling up perfectly.
He’s talking about the leftists
@@jonnystiztv Nah its unlikey bcause himself is a leftist too. the song is actually about federal whaling regulations of Alaska in 1879
I always thought he said "young foolish pride." I'm an idiot.
The b-side to the original song follows on this concept "Mr. Wind"
"Mr. Wind don't laugh or I'll begin to cry!"
Put this album on a play list with MGMT's Congratulations and hear the sound of God's beach vacation music.
Damn people actually had good music taste 10 years ago
@@nitemarehippygirl510 I still listen to both of those albums all the time :)
@@superstimulatedminotaur3681 same!
Funnily enough, he helped produce some of MGMTs stuff on their recent album...and then they snuffed him when talking about the writing of them.
@@WaffleStomper69 many such cases
Ahhhhh my high school senior days listening to this song!
same.
What a great sound! It's actually music.
Lovin' this California psychedelic/stoner surf rock!
Beautiful harmonies.
We got your back Ariel!
Hey you might like a band a called The Doublejumps if you like this style of music

You might like a band called The Doublejumps if you like listening to Ariel Pink
I didn’t realize this was first done in the 60s. They do the original version justice.

60s underground Garage Rock has lots of awesome stuff. This is a good example of the surf rock inspired stuff, but there were also bands that had a lot heavier sound and were considered the beginning of punk rock and metal. But that stuff remianed underground until like '68. This song is more a '66 vibe.
@@RoninAvenger care to give some examples :)? cheers
edit: oh, i will check your playlists
SO GOOD, freaking catchy as hell
Still sounds fresh.
Hands down one of my all time fav cds!
that bass line e e e e
There was only one bass line and that was E....

This is such a kickass song! I play it all of the time at loud volume and it rocks hard every time! This is my friends is magic!!! The video is wonderful! It is in my head. Such great charm.
I can't believe it has been ten years already...
How did I forget about this song? Think it was the first Ariel Pink song I heard. Love his stuff. This feels like The Who

@@MassiveFish-hp4pm I'll check them out!
The bass kick ass
Great to hear music like this being made! Hooray!
For me this track reminds me of bouncing around the city with my Boombox, climbing trees chasing girls and trying to find the weirdest person to have a conversation with
i wish this song were longer or something. i can jam to this tune for much longer than 2and a half minutes.
fucking addicted to this
What a fucking awesome song lmao
Just barely found the Rising Storm version. Both versions are Sooooo good! 🐊 🐊 🐊
Best band I've heard in a decade! Can't wait for a new album
Are you still waiting?
The Rockin’ Ramrods…

absolutely stunning.
⛓⛓💓💓⛓⛓
Can’t believe this album is a decade old 😔
Same. I despise the speed at which time passes...
😢
Would you believe this song is about 50-60 years old?

Great video for a great song
took me a while to listen to AP, but I'm glad I gave it a try. I'm fascinated with this music, something is just so wonderfully off about it. Very hard to put a finger on. I guess thats why I keep listening...what an awesome sound!

Your my favorite trip artist
This is a cover of a song from the 60's.
GREAT!!!!
Magic!
Fantastic!

Single of the year. Anyone who can mentally transport me from Kings Cross on a dismal November afternoon to west LA at the height of summertime has to be on to something. The video is a hoot too - like watching an episode of "Beverley Hills 90210" on acid.
80's music is the best .
Curiously, it is a cover of a song written in the 1960s.
What is this thing
I call my mind
I look for the things I can't find
Why am i so far from the ground ?
My voice is quiet but my
Thoughts are loud
Bright Lit blue skies
You're full of lies
Lies
My tired thoughts are
Just like chalk
Rub it across your mind
Just like a clock
2:45 and 8pm
I'm sorry but you won't
See me again
Bright Lit blue skies
You're full of lies
Lies
Bright Lit blue skies
You're full of lies
Lies, Lies, Lies
You're full of lies
Love the homage to Nazz's "Open My Eyes" video. I think this confirms my belief that Ariel Pink has a musical-spiritual connection with Todd Rundgren...whether he realizes it or not.
Love @ 1:06 when they pull up in the Trojan horse and he's covered in badges, so official! "We're here to fix the plumbing" lol
yay !!!
i must make video memories with this song.
Música top gostei 🇧🇷
brilliant
bright blue sky with weed and this song get to you.......love it
I LOVE THIS FUCKING SONG!! EVER
this soothes my soul and excites my mind :)
Saw them two days ago, touring with the Flaming Lips. Best. Concert. Ever.
All-in-all, a bit of a lost classic...whoever recorded it and when...if you're here, just enjoy it...life is short!
I like this

I love this song so much. I love leaving comments so much.
Cool🍁✌️👽
I LISTEN TO THIS EVERY MORNING WHEN I BRUSH MY GRILLZ
Is that Tall Paul playing the cop!? I'd recognize that mustache anywhere! This song is rad and reminds me of a hybrid of all the songs off side one of Love's "Da Capo."
que weones más felices!
what a bunch of happy pals!
yes
Ari your comb over is SHAGGALIOUS
this is so fucking awesome, YEAAAHHH!!
I'm 15 and its 2011.. When ever i think "A decade ago" i still think the 90's.. We're gettin old! );
Lmao, how do you feel now in 2021?
❤
Good driving beat and rhythm. Self-confident Millennial Generation musicians. Playful in a non-silly, non-violent, non-aggressive Beatles style!
Very very nice
Ariel Pink is 35 years old. I don't think that makes him a "millenial". He's older than that generation. But that's probably why he is actually good, because millenials are the reason that popular music has been dog shit for 10 years running.
subsamadhi You're right subsamdhi, Ariel Pink is pre-Millennial by about 4 years (35 vs. 10 - 31). And I don't like recent musica either (especially Rap, Gansta Rap, Hip Hop. I can't believe that music actually lasted for 20 years!????). Ariel Pink is a little like Gin Blossoms maybe!??
He draws from all kinds of sources. I hear some Beach Boys, some 90's music, he even throws in some 60's and 70's pastel pop. I love Sonic Youth 90s noise rock, and I see a lot of that influence in his stuff too. If you hear Gin Blossoms who are good, you are probably right also.
lol, thanks for your thoughtful description Anthony Barondess.
Omg this is beautiful (well the song at least)
OmgGgGgGg~~
Rockin Ramrods did the original, both are awesome :)
