Ariel is amazing at making catchy, addictive pop music. But I think more than that, there's a great depth to these lyrics that just makes it beautiful. The guys in this video are desperate, too scared to look at themselves or what they're offering to anyone else, but still looking out for love. Anyone that seeks out finding love in other people (and either the anticipation / rejection that comes from it) can relate to these lyrics.
I work with people with developmental disabilities and can say this video is freaking awesome. We take these people on mall walks all the time and aside from the crazy outfits this is kind of what it feels like. You're just hanging out with this person who was born into shitty circumstances and just trying to have a good time with them and give them a great day. I love the fact that Ariel has it so the wheelchair bound dude is the one with the phone trying to get numbers. Awesome video.

man, this song grows on you. Ariel Pink is a mastermind when it comes to capturing that nostalgic feeling.

makes sense that it was filmed at the eagle rock mall. I lived on Ave 56 and Monte Vista in nearby highland park for many years and I’d always see Ariel Pink on the block when I’d walk my kids around the neighborhood.
I love that this song and the video might go over be people's heads and be taken too literally. This is one of the reason's why Ariel Pink is one of my favorite singers nowadays - other than the Madonna incident - he makes the perverse lyrical. He reminds me of the director of Happiness in that way. Does it all have to be sugarcoated for us? When it isn't it is so much sweeter.
This song plays at my work (I work at Express) and I always get so stoked when this song comes on. Love it.

This is pretty nice, it sounds good and touches on some subjects that most musicians would never dare approach, especially if you include the video in that.

This song and video repeatedly brings joy to me; there is humour and levity, brought to a potentially difficult subject. Imagine being put in charge of a wheelchair bound person for a day with no training or experience. We need more outside the box thinking like this. I say, Brilliant execution and well done to this artist. And of course, the dress sense is sublime, Ariel. Bravo!

See for some reason I thought Ariel was a bigger deal than he is because to me, he is THE greatest musician of my time. He is doing shit no one else can I think. Genius is an understatement but the fact that this amazing pop song has only 2 million views is wild. When this came out I heard it in Sheetz and I was so ecstatic cause I thought he was going to blow up. But I think that was wishful thinking cause the rest of the album is a hard listen if you’re not musically inclined. But it is a genius album like all of his other albums nonetheless.

I just realized it's one of the only songs I know where the chorus comes after just 30 seconds. I think it's part of the charm, it kind of races between segments.

This video certainly makes me feel creepy but it was great fun annoying people in the Eagle Rock mall from my techno goth wheelchair with my union war surplus Bane mask. Consider my character as the brother of Bane who had no aspirations for exercise and was wheelchair bound. Things not shown in the video are: Me throwing food from BolliHut (JolliHut?) at cranky children passing by; Me shouting at Ariel to have more wheelies and spin arounds in my wheelchair; Me almost vomiting (dry heaving) after attempting to eat Jollihut fries; me scaring a small kid and almost making him cry by pointing at him and then myself; me falling asleep in my wheelchair; attempting to get into the small Hurricane Machine in a wheelchair....If you thought I was dreadful then watch some of my videos on youtube and keep in mind that I am in a wheelchair but only in spirit at the Eagle Rock mall the land of forgotten retail outlets.

This is what I like about Ariel. He is a defender of the underdog. (I don't understand the trump thing but eh). Put a number in my phone. So simple but so difficult if you are disabled, ugly, old, fat or inadequate. No body likes you but you still have the same longing for love and affection. Friendship is there for some but it's not enough. Then you humiliate yourself to people that are beautiful but shallow and they don't love you. Then you play some games, drink forget about it. They will never understand your inner beautiful world but you would trade that rich inner world for outer shallow beauty if that would give you a glimpse of being loved.
Damn... I understand the Trump thing, if anything I’m just glad you’re not discrediting his genius because of this. You definitely summed up the song perfectly though, well thought out on what he was trying to express.
At the very least, his videos are highly provocative. The tone is upbeat and hopeful, yet incredibly depressing and melancholy filled at the same time-like The worst case of let down and lost hope ever. The last video I watched sounded like an upbeat Beach Boys song mixed with a severe case of depression. The videos tell a real and sad story without saying anything.
