Never wack an axle without the bolt on and also put up jack stands, more than one, very easy to drop the vehicle with just one floor jack. He is right, buy the right tools to make it easier. If you do not have an impact gun, to loosen the screw, take the center cap off the rim, and loosen the axle bolt while the tire and rim is on and you can access the axle bolt and use a breaker bar, do the sam to tighten it again later on.

2005 to 2012 except 5.6 L V8 has different VC axles.... also take the brake caliper off to avoid damaging the hose, also not the way I would use cotter pins bending both sides down

      1. Thought I had 4.0L in title, fixed.
      2. Hose was a bit stressed but fine, looked worse than it is. Touched based on that in the video. But if it makes you feel better to remove caliper, go for it…I’m not opposed! I’ve removed it in other videos on channel.
      3. Its a cotter pin bra. Relax. Thats exactly how it was bent from factory if you didn’t notice when I removed it. There is more than one way to bend a cotter pin. If you wanna make fancy ballon animal shapes out of it go for it, whatever works. The purpose of a cotter pin is to secure a bolt in place. Its going to retain the bolt whether I bent it the way i did, bent them opposite directions, or got extra fancy with it.

Always use jack stands going underneath the vehicles
