@@mrkatopotato Yes, you can change the strap-- but, you have to be a little creative with these inexpensive Casios, sometimes... They aren't so-called "strap monsters" & the lug holes will wear out-- Although, the fact that these are drilled and they are 20mm (one of the "established" strap sizes of the watch industry) helps. For a lark, I trimmed down a "much more expensive than the watch" 20 mm strap for one of my F-91Ws... When i was a kid 10 years old, I found this in front of a kiosk I asked the owner if he lost a watch or somebody asked for it. He said nope, he told me too keep it. I put it on my wrist and was so happy. 30 sec later a guy came in asked for it he had lost it out of his bag . I returned it to him. It was the happiest moment when I had it on my wrist. After that I knew I had to get this watch someday. Now I got it 23 years later, brings me way back. 🤗 When I was almost 12 I told my dad I wanted this watch, then he came with the F-91W on my birthday. I loved it but still was dreaming about CA53.
The fact that this watch is so cheap today is really cool. It's starred in huge movies and has been in production since 1988. I knew I had to get one of these.
My big party trick back then was the ol' "Shell Oil" routine: add a couple of numbers together to equal 710.77345, along with some patter about oil producing countries going to war (punch line: "who wins?"), then flip the watch upside down to show the answer. I wasn't very popular at parties....
I was born in 1980. I am 43 years old. My very first watch was a calculator watch in 1990. Later, I remember I also had a Casio ca-53w watch. Now, at the age of 43, I ordered it again and wear it. This watch is like the car in the movie. I pick it up and it takes me back in time. To the happy and unforgettable late 80s and early 90s...
Because you were a nerd like me? lol. I spent like 10 minutes thinking of that menu. I spent THREE HOURS on the friggin intro! lol. I sometimes can words good.
Funny how, in the 80s, I avoided wearing a calculator watch-- while I was a pseudo-nerd (loved sci-fi, comics, and D & D) lol, I didn't want to to get pegged as a full-on geek... lol! Now, though? I have TOTALLY embraced my "nerd-dom" and absolutely love these inexpensive, Casio digitals! Lol! Thanks for this video! (Btw, +1 for making an F-91W video!) ☝😎
I fell in love with the CFX-200 about a year ago. It was pure luck, but in a year I managed to get two of them, both in nice condition. I may be wrong but as far as I know they came out in 1983.
My father had similar but with metalic buttons in early 80s. Anyway i remember him using it while diping his hands in oil kerosene water and during all that rough tough jobs..now in 2017 i gifted him exactly same 53w but he said hey no one uses watches now better get me a smartphone lol. Its on my wrist now and its cool.
I ordered one just now for nostalgic reasons, lost mine decades ago, probably due to childish carelessness. It's super cheap, a watch that I intend to keep around this time.
This watch bought back alot of memories of my childhood. Really nice to see you review it here. It's quite surprising that Casio didn't discontinue this watch especially when we have all the modern day tech right now. I remembered it was so cool n awesome back in the 80s to have a watch that also calculates.

I bought the Casio Calculator Watch model CA-53W on September 9th,2017,even though I’m sixteen years old,but this watch is still awesome. And I still wear it ever since. Just like Garth Algar from the movie Wayne’s World, who wore a Casio Calculator Watch model Ca-50,said,it’s like a new pair of underwear. At first,it’s constrictive, but after a while,it becomes a part of you. This watch really takes me back to the past. And I thank God for this watch, because if it weren’t for this watch, where would you tell time, and how would you get through the math problems, you know? Anyway,I love this watch. It’s the same watch that was worn by Marty McFly from Back to the Future, and Walter White from Breaking Bad. Even though it has no backlight and it’s an eight digit Calculator watch,it’s still a good watch.
There's a lot of people saying that it has no light, but if it's exactly the same as it was in the 80', it does have light. If I remember correctly it was the '7' key while in watch mode.
CA 50, the watch featured in first Back To The Future movie didn't have grooves and wasn't water resistant. I used to have such watch back in 1986, but sadly, the keyboard fell of after a year.

Yeah man these are cool, I have an F91W (black plastic), A158W (silver) and A178W (gold) and although I don't wear them all that much, they are super fun. Secret pro tip: girls seem to really like them ;)
Actually, when I showed my ladyfrand this calculator watch, she said "that watch is amazing". She hasn't said that about any other watch lol. I think the F91W is next...ugh why do people have to keep suggesting awesome classic Casios to me! Oh well, I'll get them ALL. Muahahaha!!

Here in New Zealand there is a big chain store (similar to Walmart in the states) that is still selling the CA-53, F91W and about 6 other vintage model Casio digitals. I actually just today bought a CA-53. Aside from being iconic in many movies, namely BTTF, it's functional, and very light and low-profile.....not bulky like G-Shock.
Nice video. Love Casio for years . I'm just wanted to know where did you get the car from back to the Future car ? Thanks for the Video. I'm A Nerd Also

If it all works and is in good condition, it's worth quite a bit. Not as much as the sentimental value, of course. Nice one!
