Keep them on their toes. We don’t want retrospective excuses, bumbling and costly B.S.

NZer here - go you Aussies! Go the Aussie Navy!
My father was in the RNZN during WWII and I think he would have loved to see Australia get some nuclear-powered subs!

What are the security upgrades being implemented for garden island? Standard ADF and contracted sec controls are lacklustre compared to overseas naval ports that service and port these boats.

The notion of nuclear powered submarines being based at Garden Island is a bad strategic move.
Because of.the fact Perth is a highly populated area. Whereby Exmouth is a far more suitable position.

This AUKUS deal is an absolute joke, if it wasn’t so dangerous. Australia had good relations with China, until the Americans told us to cool that relationship for American and Britains geopolitical ambitions. Of course the majority of Europe is also subservient to this war machine through NATO. I don’t think that we have ever been a truly independent nation, free from foreign interference, especially from our own “Allies “, after all, they control virtually everything in our country. Foreign policy, finance and banking and of course, our mineral resources, which they obtain at bargain prices, and then sell them on in foreign markets at way better prices than what we received .

Reality is we will never build these subs here (they won't even build nuclear Power Stations) the Perth site will be used for US/UK nuclear subs, they will have AUS sailors on board for training, Australians will never fully crew these subs, the Osborne site will never be used for sub building but only to build small warships our nuclear sub program will never happen, we cant afford their huge price tag let alone servicing, maintaining and running costs, and we don't have enough submariners to crew these babies , the government knows this but keeps spinning BS to us

if youre serious about this them go back to your colleagues and ask why 5 liberal Ministers actively deferred or delayed all efforts to deal with subs from 1998 onwards I spent 10 years as a contractor and over 10 years in defence where Ive watched them clusterf the capability. The americans first flagged nuke subs at a UDFT Conference I attended in Hawai'i in 2004. Since then (let alone from Pre Plan Blue) Ministers were openly either hostile or kept on deferring which meant degrading the capability. In my time we witnessed the govt of the day irritiating and destroying trust with the swedes, the germans, the dutch, the japanese, the french and now this evolving clusterf with the americans and brits. Hans Christian Anderson couldnt make up a better fairy story ot incompetence from Govt. Ministers want to get the dog and pony show of getting photographed with kit or expensive items, but they also usually have no idea that these things need solid committed forward planning. Successive govts of the day have absolutely poisoned the well of those we need to deal with and all because of hubris and incompetence. Blaming the uniforms as plan a and then the suits as plan b when there is a complete failure to look aty the direct contribution that Ministers and sometimes their COS have played in degrading our ability is gob smacking. Heres a free tip, lets have a Royal Commission to investigate how Ministers degrade and destroy our capability from those who have direct and relevant first hand knowledge, and bring in whistleblower protection so that there is no ability to gild the lilly to protect the Ministers involved. We need to step away from Ministers and their staffers as pandas (ie a protected species). Take some ownership for how your lot have absolutely stuffed our forward planning and readiness.. Its fun to blame the senior sirs, CASG, CDG, CIOG snt command etc.... but lets get to the nub of this and do it in public
I can think of at least 6 projects in the last 15 years where Ministers dislocated the selection process and where those programs were cancelled, delayed, deferred or the capability removed, All of them cost over $1/2 billion minimum each in exhausted funds with literally either no capability to show for it or required a new funding model to bring in capability that was originally selected but was rejected by the Minister via "Ministerial discretion" - often for electoral area issues, not capability reasons.

‘… head of nuclear submarine capability…’. He’s already the title without us having the submarines. 🐂💩
Oh my goodness, bureaucracy gone mad.
At least they can answer questions for a change.
Crazy thought. Relocated the sub base to Exmouth. Right on the continental shelf. Minimal adverse community impact. Big airport. US military facility already there?????

    • @stuka101
      @stuka101 5 місяців тому

relocate to exmouth? what a logistical nightmare - one road to get into town that can be flooded/trapped by fire (ye it has a big runway , but supporting infrastructure isnt there). Lack of industry...US base there is bare, not what you think it is.
Also the shelf isn't far off Rottnest anyway so that point isnt valid.

With a possibility of Trump who doesn't support NATO what sort of hope dose Australia have to guarantee supply of N sub equipment and support.
Tieing our Australia to an unreliable partner.

We don"t want your nuclear submarines in W.A. Senator Fawcett, coming from S,A,he should base his submarines in S,A, or better still he should relocate to the U,S,A, so he can be with his fellow warmongers

The subs will be at sea, along with the rest of the fleet, when the threat level rises. Waste of a nuke on Stirling.
