DISCO REDUX (BeeGees movement)

I used this song (along with one by Lady Gaga) as the last ballet (DISCO REDUX), I made for the Baltimore School for the Arts, for their annual Spring fundraising gala dinner several years ago. The young student dancers were too young for the Disco era…but I wasn’t…and I still love this infectious music. When I choreograph for schools or universities I always try to use as many dancers as I can. It’s good for them to got some stage experience, as well as being a challenge for me. Always fun to hear a young, unsophisticated audience, break out in applause in the middle of a number, and not just for tricks like fouettés, or other banal cliches. Here they’re clearly responding to the humor of my choreography. Nothing beats that. #disco #beegees
