Looking forward to the diagnosis on this one, I’m from the UK and have some mechanical experience and have followed your channel for a long time, take no notice of the UK keyboard warriors, I have to add you both come across as kind and thoughtful people in regards to the family who has experienced the failure. Thank you for the continued quality content 🇬🇧
@@billtomo An indian company sticking the badge of a dead british company on thier products doesn't make them british my man. You're the kind of guy who buys a BMW 1 series because it has union jack brakelights right?
I am going to guess this is a timing belt failure. Pay no attention to those Facebook people. Your channel is fantastic and like others have said there is much admiration for the compassion you have demonstrated towards the family who owned this vehicle.
A timing belt failure isn't going to lock the crank up like that. Also there apparently was no noise when the engine stopped. Pistons hitting valves at nearly 80 mph is going to make a hell of a lot of noise!
Yes indeed pay no attention of the Facebook crowd, I'm surprised they can use their phones to make a comment, the humour has gone over Thier tiny bresix brains.😀
@@samrodian919 I experienced once a timing belt failure in a VW Sharan TDI shortly after a service on the highway and the engine just died without making any noise at all. Result: total write off.
Hi, Vera and Christian, so embarrassed to be British, having heard your comments. I quietly believe you have become the most foremost Discovery expert, on the net, we love your content, it is so entertaining and funny, keep up the great work. Best wishes from Wales
Why are you embarrassed by a few idiots on Facebook? Do they represent British ideals or even British opinion? No. You really have no right to denigrate a whole people by calling us 'embarrassing' (by inference). I am not even sure he accused the Brits of anything. It was people on Facebook and they could from anywhere.
Hi Christian & Vera, as a UK resident I am very sorry to hear that a few people from over here choose to be abusive towards you. All of us genuine viewers really enjoy your channel and all the effort you put in to creating content. Keep doing what you are doing and don’t respond to the negative comments from bored armchair warriors who have nothing better to do with their lives. I’m really looking forward to this new project you have taken on and look forward to all the future content.
Most of our viewers on UA-cam are out of the UK (60%). We only receive bad comments in Facebook groups and stopped communication there. We only post our video once per week in the LR Owner group. Christian
Hello C & V! Reflecting on Landrover, LR design and its commercial self interest, we, the public are persuaded by “gloss” and psychological subtlety to purchase LR products. LR products are overwhelmed by electronic dross, almost all of it superfluous, which guarantee’s huge and costly maintenance bills for most. Why the hell are so many attracted to it? I do admire your technical skills, fault analysis, instrumentation to assist, workshop homemade test kit, real time fault analysis, accurate measurement. Science, engineering and bloody determination. Clearly you have taken a career route with Utube, I enjoy it!
This car is no longer a Mall Crawler. It was initiated in a minor flood yesterday. It drives perfectly, better than any other Disco I have driven, and I've driven a few. The kick in the back at 2500rpm is bigger than on my aged 211hp TDV6 D4.
You are a very good engineer, mechanic and LR Discovery troubleshooter. Ignore the negative comments in FB. I would say that you are one of the worlds most knowledgeable LR Discovery experts. Keep up the good work.
This channel is slowly turning into a "who dunnit" detective series for Land Rovers. Huge respect for empathy displayed towards the previous owner. Philip makes a great camera man with his religious observations, of course not as good as mum !! Enjoyed every minute of this episode. Please disregard comments from uk channel, they are obviously not engineers.
You guys are genius! I have a mall crawler 2012, but bunged some offroad wheels and tyres etc on to it. but the whole thing hangs on whether the oil level sensor is still operating correctly. I wonder if anyone has done a dip-stick conversion? Mine runs just fine so far with 121000m. If I had found your channel before I bought it though, I probably would have tried to find an LR3...Thanks to you, I now use 5w dumbass (40) in it. I look forward to each sunday episode, live in the uk and think your channel is just brilliant. Anybody calling Christian an idiot is probably just describing themselves and wouldn't recognise an engineer if one fell on him with a spanner in each hand!.
I'm going with a seized alternator or other pulley driven by the serpentine belt, we once had a Discovery with a supposedly seized engine, I removed the belt (with a Stanley knife) and it started straight away. The alternator had seized and the engine would not move as in your video. Big respect for offering the car back if it's a minor issue, my neighbour once offered me a car for free that wouldn't turn over or start and a helpful mechanic told them the cam belt had broken. All it needed was a new starter, one hour and it was fixed and happy neighbour again
The spare wheel cover is a quick way of checking if a Disco 4 is Euro 5 (no cover), or Euro 6 which has the wheel flipped over with the ad-blue tank in the void left by the centre of the flipped wheel.
I’m from the U.K. and think you both do great content on your channel. Enjoy your humour and always feel your pain as it reminds me of working on my Land Rover. Keep up the good work and watching this with interest as my initial thoughts are there is more than one issue with this engine.
I am from the UK and love your logs. I even get up early to watch them on a Sunday morning. Please ignore the pathetic facebook keyboard terrorists who think it is OK to rubbish people who are trying ( and succeeding ) to entertain and inform their viewers. It makes me angry.... Why don't they simply not watch and turn their attention to watching cartoons. Keep up the great work. By the way I have little to no technical knowledge but enjoy my landrovers. I am in awe of your technical skills, humour and your ability to present in English. In the past 30 years I have owned 2 FF range rovers ( v8 3.5 petrol and my current 4.4 diesel). 3 Discoveries ( 2 TD5's and a LR 3 for 15 years and 160K miles). I use a non franchised LR specialist for both servicing and repairs as I have little skills but really enjoy watching the fixes and the humour. Keep going please. Colin
Colin, I agree, as Thumper in the Bambi film was told by his dad, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say nothing at all” . (I will excuse his grammar) . Those people in question should be made to write out one hundred times,”I must not be rude”. I think this programme about discos and the various trials and tribulations encountered from day to day is great. I don’t have or ever had a Land Rover.
I'm SOOOOoo sorry that my " countrymen " feel the need to throw insults at you Christian, presumably finding the time in between making their own content, ay ;-) ? Glad you can take it on the chin. Great new series coming up and bless you for being reasonable if the issue is minor. Keep up the great output. I enjoy it here in Malaysia.
This is a win win situation for everyone. You guys get a project car , we all get to see it getting fixed and the guy buys back the car from you. Everyone happy. 😊😊😊. Love you guys.
Your videos are informative and entertaining and your humorous banter an absolute delight. Anybody criticising your content is to be ignored. Keep up the great work.
Yeah are by far one of the best LR channels on the Tube!! You both have great hearts ❤️ and incredible knowledge of engineering, big big respect ✊ so rare to meet such a wonderful couple that work together, enough of that, bring on the fix and banter , Sundays I always look forward to your posts.
Hi Christian and Vera. My guess is low oil pressure due to the use of 5W -30 (Dumb ass) leading to failure of the main and big end bearings. I'm looking forward to this series very much. "See you next Sunday"
30 Thousand for a new engine ,! O my God!!! I'm going out to my Toyota Land cruiser and giving it a big hug,,,, I feel for that family,, what a pain,,,, I'm sure you'll sort it,,,, no smoke,, no bang,, no oil everywhere,, Timing belt jumped a few teeth or broke,,, 🍺🔨👍👍
My uneducated guess is a faulty oil level sensor showed correct oil level when in fact the oil level was low. 120km/h for an extended period lead to oil starvation which in turn ceased the engine. 😊 I too feel bad for the original owners, it looks like they have looked after it. I guarantee that you have way more positive comments and love for your content than the haters could even imagine! My Sunday doesn’t even start until I have watched your latest episode ❤
offering the vehicle back if a simple fix shows how decent these folks are. Many youtubers/folks like to gloat over their great scores. You have got a subscription from me. Love the charm, chemistry and knowledge in your content.
Hi to you both, I really enjoy your content and look forward to Sunday mornings. I am a long time Landrover owner and agree with you about the dealer workshops I think they are over priced and poor quality diagnostics. I am looking forward to the next few weeks to see how you get on with repairing this vehicle. Thank you to you both for brightening my Sunday mornings.
Apologies that you have had negative comments from the U.K. Christian, I have been fixing motorbikes, cars, bulldozers, trucks Etc for 50 years, I’m impressed with the quality of your work (and Vera!) 🙌🏻 keep on “Spannering”
I'm in the UK and I think you are a first class brilliant engineer. I have a 2.7 tdvi jaguar XJ and have it booked in for an oil pump upgrade after seeing your video's and 05/40 oil at the same time, would do it myself but no garage and at 69 too old to do it with out a lift. Thank you so much for your help.
Hej you two, "screw" those critics, we all know you are brilliant, mechanically competent and kind-hearted people,,,,can't wait to see what comes of this project...👍😀
I too am in the uk. And a Toyota owner, and i always look forward to this channel. Now let’s get to the important issue here, what’s wrong with the car? As a Toyota man in clearly know nothing about LR, So my diagnostics is, wait for it, this car is broken. I can’t wait to win and get my prize. Great vid guys.
I'm involved with a lot of online marketing & content creation. Love your show. There's a saying - if you haven't received 'hate' before 12 in the day you're not marketing hard enough. You obviously are doing a great job! Ignore them and keep at it! 🙌
Quality content by quality people. I wish I knew as much about cars as Christian does. I love the way Vera allowed Christian to buy it. We always need the backing of a good woman. I sense there will be a lot of ''Oh my God'' in this series. I'm guessing the locked-up engine was caused by oil starvation caused by the oil pump failing. Thank you for sharing and keep safe.
My guess is that it is a Toyota secret services sabotage act and that you’ll find a tiny Toyota emblem next to the 13 mm spanner lodged between piston 3 and 4 in the crankcase. Happened in Switzerland as there is no extradition treaty there…. Keep up the awesome work guys!
Please ignore ignorant comments on social media. Your work and the results speak for themselves so i don't know why people are complaining. I look forwards to seeing process of putting the Disco back on the road.
Intrigued! and kudos to you both for offering to give the car back if it is an easy repair. As always, already looking forward to next week's instalment...
Never mind what the armchair engineers on Facebook have to say. They will never have got down and dirty with an engine! I have seen a lot of your work and your ATD is way beyond what most people would bring to a project but still very basic engineering principles - Its either right or not. As an ex Scania Master Technician you have my utmost respect.
Great content as always with more to come. Please disregard the troll comments, I love the interaction between you both. I have my Sunday's booked for the months ahead. Paul UK
I think the crankshaft snapped as whilst on the motorway, it passed a broken down Toyota, so had to snap to regain the balance in the world. No idea what is going on in facebook, but this channel is the best. Great mix of humour and technical content.
Love these Sunday morning videos, your both great people ignore the haters they are not worth the time of day, can’t wait to see the outcome on this one.
Christian & Vera, you are really taking and teaching Toyota owners the fine art of masochism at the next level by buying this Disco. Cannot wait to follow you with other current and past LR owners with our masochistic tendencies in rebuilding this project 👍
Even before I finish watching this video, I have had to pause it to make this comment. I just heard on the video that there are apparently forums on Facebook etc that say you do not know what you are doing and that you are a clown Christian and a child! I am from the UK and I am appalled by this, this is completely incorrect, I was trained as a mechanic (many years ago) when everything was done by hand and not computers, I am in awe of the work you do and only wish I was physically able to repeat it on my own LR4. Keep up the excellent work as you provide excellent entertainment to a huge amount of people who appreciate you.❤
Great new project and really excited to see what you discover is the cause. My guess is that the timing belt failed resulting in immediate valve closure hence inability to turn crankshaft.
I am a bit behind with your videos but I am totally hooked. Love your content, humour and teamwork. Been looking at a 3 or 4 for a while but still undecided. Keep up the great work.
Snapped crank is my guess with the complete seizure, Facebook is something I don’t miss after seeing the comments 😂 keep at it Vera and Christian the confidence you guys give me to attack my discovery 3 myself is amazing ❤
The fact you cared so much about the previous owners feelings , this shows how good people you both are the same with offering to return the car if minor , great channel and people
That's not anxiety your feeling, more like misplaced excitement. Which is why I love my 3, the best driving trucks out there with the thrill of arriving home with no bings or bongs or dash lights lighting off like a Xmas display.
Hello you two, one thing in advance, the owner of the D4 could not have found a better team for this task. My tip: The low mileage tells us that the vehicle has stood still a lot. For the D4, standing still means that oil is running into the oil pan. With every start there is a risk that the crankshaft bearings will run dry until enough pressure has built up (we know the problem). My conclusion, due to long down times and perhaps low-speed driving, crankshaft bearing damage, despite low overall mileage. Greetings from Schleswig Holstein, Heinz
Hi C & V, thank you so much for this and indeed all your content. So many examples around with engine/crank failure in the U.K…….A very recent sad loss is the excellent you tube channel “2planks in a Landy”….. good luck with this and commiserations to the previous owner. I may be following your lead on this and purchase a broken one as a project. I look forward to the updates………..Thank you and best wishes to you both. 😊
I’m Spartacus! How many others are now going to ask you to buy and fix their cars? This is a sad story for the previous owners. But, well done for taking this project on. The crank being locked in both directions does not bode well for something simple to fix. However, at least a dumb-ass dealer hasn’t tried to turn it, making the situation much worse as they did with Fabien’s engine. As for the British Facebook comments about you, this is why we call it Face-ache! Maybe it should be further renamed Ball-ache. Can’t wait for the next few videos. Keep up the good work.
Hi Vera and Christian. LR time, what can I say. Excellent work thankyou. My theory about the engine failure is a little complicated but I will explain. I am certain that in Swizterland the mall crawler was contaminated by mice. Probably quite a few , more than 10. Once inside, being bored with a working landrover they took it on themselves to reek havoc. Once this decision was made all they required was a 36inch stillson, and waiting for the correct moment ( 120kph on the Mway). they lobbed it into the path of the rotating crank. I am quite certain that the mice have scarpered but you will find the stillson. I am prepared to wait for the autopsy, so you can send me a sticker. All the best.✌
Hi Vera / Christian. I'm struggling to figure out why you are getting so many negative posts from people I personally think that your doing a great job/service on the repair of such a complex vehicle and explaining it in the way that many DIYers can understand. Keep up the good Videos The engine failure issue I would guess is a locked up rear main crank journal - spin in the cap oil starvation #.
Your definitely not a dumbass, I’ve been a mechanic for 35 years and I learn good pointers on your channel. The poor previous owner must have been heartbroken.
Hello, you are both excellent at working on the Land Rovers and have such a high skill levels. All those saying your don't are jealous or want to charge huge amounts of cash for simple fixes. Sadly these people always are quick to sad bad things, I hope you ignore them. My guess would be a broken crank causing a con rod to buckle jamming things together.
I have a 2008 Toyota Prado (stock) in Australia with 250,000km on it. Non service parts replaced: 1 water pump, 1 alternator sprag clutch, 1 fuel filler rubber hose. That’s it. Used off road about 5% of its life.
Oh Christian, how foolish can they be to be derogatory towards you and your knowledge of cars. It is not what you know when you start, it is what you know after you have put your mind to it that counts. I will not be looking for those clowns on Facebook groups. I am happy to tune in on Sunday and see what you are up to. Much better to listen to those that do instead of those that talk about it.
Ignore the negative comments, you two do more on a Land Rover than most people. Keep the great content coming. keep looking at Disco 3 as a potential project to run alongside the defender 110. Would never consider it without your channel for advise. Do what you do see you on the trail sometime. huge respect for offering the return if it is a simple fix. Good Luck
Er, exactly same scenario for my niece - stranded with kids in the family's beloved 2017 (75k miles) D4... snapped crank. Final cost from Bournemouth LR specialist was £5k labour and £5k for an LR-sourced engine (2yr guarantee). LR made a gesture of 25% after a hard fight. The 3rd party warranty (it had been bought 6 months earlier) paid another 25%..... Vera, no, MY D3 is the most reliable one on the planet!!! Seriously, when they get lots of love and attention they can be great cars (tho you can still get unlucky). As Christian says, you need to know what's what, be realistic, resourceful, patient, have a diag tool (and lots of other tools) + a backup vehicle.....keep up the Brilliant channel, WE love what you do anyway
interesting project, I think it may be the crankshaft sensor, can you imagine? Hopefully the crankshaft lock will release when getting power from the charged battery. but that twist lock I have the intuition that the timing belt or the camshaft chains could have broken. I think that in this project we will see a body lift. Good luck, I can't wait to see the next videos. Greetings from Seville
A very low oil pressure and an engine running too hot? Don't worry about the facebook comments, it's a weird platform. This channel is great and its the reason I'm leaning towards buying an LR3.
G’day Christian and Vera, love your channel, is it possible the previous owners wife filled it with petrol rather than diesel? Motor overload and just stopped, look forward to you finding the outcome, I reckon your a legend Christian, you know your stuff backwards. Kind regards from Melbourne!!
Hi there, top score for an excellent channel. It is one of the highlights on a Sunday to watch a new video from you guys, well done. I am in South Africa, owning a "Mall Crawler" that I really enjoy driving. Your channel definitely helped me to take the step which I don't regret. With regards to your new project, my guess is spun main bearings due to oil quality issues, possibly as a result of extended oil services or low oil level. Can't wait to here the detail about this one!
Easily one of the finest UA-cam channels there is. Only discovered you guys a few weeks ago, but what marvelous content. I need binge watch the last 12 months!! Compliments from Derby, England.
You absolute nutters! I am not brave enough to even buy one LR3/LR4 and here you are. I'm calling it you are going to open up your own little LR specialist auto repairs garage from your workshop :)
Christian…Being an Englishman I can only apologise profusely for the behaviour of theses idiots calling you names on the internet. I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and what comes across is you’re an extremely competent and intelligent man. And as a D3 owner of 13 years I find your advice extremely useful. Thank you.
Another Toyota driver, following channel. As I only have knowledge on how to make a nice tasting cafe latte or espresso, I can't really guess what went wrong with this engine. I suspect spun big end bearings due to lubrication related failure. All I have in my toolbox is a big hammer so I shall watch with great interest as this repair job will be beyond the tools that I have.
Hello from the UK. Too many "experts" on facebook I'm afraid. I admit I know very little about Land Rovers but am learning from your videos. Love the channel, keep up the good work.
Hello BigAde, looks like you won our patch and sticker. We got the engine appart and it is a "simple snapped crank". Can you contact us outside of UA-cam? You find my email address if you go to our Channel description. We will show the details in the video on Sunnday. The word "snapped" is very accurate because it happened instandly, within on revolution. We did not find a single chip or bearing wear. The word "broken crankshaft" as in other comments does not describe the issue as good as it covers a broader range of issues. Hope to get an email from you. Christian
I just cant believe people from the UK have the temerity to suggest you both don't know what your talking about. So, carry on your both amazing and so knowledgeable.
Your channel just gets better and better. Now we have a quiz (with a most valuable prize!) which will test if we’ve been paying attention or just counting omg’s. Ok, so I believe the new mall crawler has a broken crank with the immediate failure mode (the one where Martin & Steve, Manchester United supporters, were chatting about their team’s performance rather than concentrating on heat treatment and fillet rolling) and the crank has snapped due to a manufacturing defect. The broken crank has wedged in the block which is why you can get no movement on the crank bolt in either direction. Also this would lead to an immediate stall of the engine. The engine is too new to have lubrication related failure, even using 5W-dumbass. Were this case here is a likelihood chips would be visible in the filter (you found none) and it is possible impending failure would be shown with an oil light on the dash (together with a ‘boing’ ??) Watching with interest to discover the reason for failure. Ignore the FB comments, they are just bitter and twisted and upset they’re not the ones with thousands of followers. I promote your channel whenever I can especially when there’s a post “I’ve bought a D3/4 what do I need next” (this is not an attempt to influence your judging decision, honest) Keep up the good work, it’s pure gold. Stuart (President of the Artic Frost D3 owners club)
How many of the critics that have put the bad comments on your channel would even think about doing a main bearing line bore in their home workshop, just about zero! I just do not understand how they can say the things they do. It’s easy to sit there and criticise while hiding behind a keyboard. The research you do and the expert way you carry out the repairs and modifications plus your manufacture of special tooling proves you are a proper engineer. And yes I am a Toyota owner defending you! Carry on the good work, can’t wait to see what’s causing the seized engine. Just towing across the road into your driveway didn’t really qualify as a full Matts Off Road Recovery. Maybe a few rocks strewn around, or a major ravine to tow it through, even a bit of snow and ice might have done it.
My guess is seized engine due to oil pump failure also using 10w dumbass oil I am from the uk and I always look forward to Sundays because two of the most entertaining and competent Land Rover experts post there videos on Sundays Never fail to make me smile and always amaze me with Christian’s home manufactured land rover special tools oh my God love you guys 😁😁😁😎
I can't give you a clear explanation of what LR4's problem is, but eventually you will find and solve this problem. Because of this, we will all be happy with your good intentions with a joyful heart. Looking forward to the next episode....From Seoul, Korea.
Just what we all needed besides the old owner and you 2 for having to do the work on it but I’m sure your gunna love it as much as we all will watching 🤙🏻
I have been watching you guys for just over a year now and I must say you are the best and regardless of what others may say from the UK and how you fix the LR, ignore them, you're doing an outstanding job and your English is excellent, you guys are so funny when repairing one of the LR's.👍👍😂😂
Hi Christian and Vera, sorry to hear about those comments but you know what they say, “Haters gonna hate”. Just let these comment side off like water off a duck! You are both generous people with the deal you have made on the vehicle, I think it is outstanding that if it is a quick fix, you are giving the vehicle back. Also shows much empathy to the owners in acknowledging there loss of the vehicle due to the breakdown and where it occurred. Well done to you both. Lastly, my guess. Hydrostatic lock caused by timing belt failure on an interference engine. Stay well you two.
No idea of facebook comments, I don't go there, but the truth is you have tons of respect and admiration from off-roaders in the UK. I love the channel and find your exchanges so entertaining plus it's clear you really know what you're doing.
Possibly the starter motor has engaged with the flywheel whilst the engine was already running and has seized up in position which is preventing the flywheel from turning.
great for us viewers as now you will have more content for the channel!! sorry for the previous owner. i believe the problem is a failed timing belt, as the car just stalled with no noises and the engine is totaly blocked , so there will be no snapped crankshaft, there will be bent valves and broken pistons probably bent connecting rods as at that speed there will be major damage on the moving parts as they stopped instantly.
Sorry about the adverse comments you have received. Ignore them; you have great knowledge, a super channel and I love watching you and Vera. LR and RR fan, live in France, wish I could find a decent used lr to use on my property as a RR sport and lr 5 have to stay on the road not fields! Watching this latest journey with great interest!
I agree, take no notice of Facebook criticism - I have a 2005 ( 210k M ) LR3 and love you channel. You are informative and entertaining - Keep it up V & C xx
Hopefully not too late to comment. Please ignore those that sit on the sofa and comment on stuff. They do not understand, and are too scared to do for themselves. I watch what you do and I work on my own car and I appreciate the content you put out. Spinning a bearing another “the main bearing I thought was a classic problem with a 2.7 engine not a 3 L I don’t think it is a cam belt, as I think he would still get a little bit of movement in the crank, so my guess would be that oil pump or pick up has failed leading to a seized up engine, but hence why, without oil circulating, there is no debris in the filter. Good luck with this one. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses. Best wishes from a discovery. Three owner, Phil
The fact you’re are willing to sell it back to the original owner shows that you’re decent people and please just ignore the idiots with nothing better to do with their time
Mad respect for offering the deal of returning car if a simple fix. That's why we love LR Time.
Yeah that was awesome.
Honest good people.very hard to find nowadays.
Incredible
Very decent couple and fun

Absolutely, well put 👍

That's a good guess!
The spare wheel cover is a quick way of checking if a Disco 4 is Euro 5 (no cover), or Euro 6 which has the wheel flipped over with the ad-blue tank in the void left by the centre of the flipped wheel.
Or open the fuel filler flap and look for the adblue filler.
I’m from the U.K. and think you both do great content on your channel.
Enjoy your humour and always feel your pain as it reminds me of working on my Land Rover. Keep up the good work and watching this with interest as my initial thoughts are there is more than one issue with this engine.
I also feel sorry for the poor guy that owned this car but sadly this is life and you two have been very fair and are taking a huge risk.
Love the reference to Matt’s Off-road recovery!
Looking forward to seeing the rest of this series.
I'm from uk and I think you guys are the best . Facebook bullies are just jealous of your abilities. I Pity the fools.
Ex Mechanic from the UK here, keep up the good work both of you 🙂
Your videos are informative and entertaining and your humorous banter an absolute delight. Anybody criticising your content is to be ignored. Keep up the great work.
I love Phillip's commentary.
@@AndyK.1 I believe he said "1st divorce this year".
And the fun begins!
I too feel bad for the original owners, it looks like they have looked after it.
I guarantee that you have way more positive comments and love for your content than the haters could even imagine! My Sunday doesn’t even start until I have watched your latest episode ❤
Oh to have a dip stick !!! and a proper hand brake.
I like your guess... lets hope not!
This was also my view on the seizure!!
offering the vehicle back if a simple fix shows how decent these folks are.
Complimenti per i tuoi video...
Io credo che il motore non sia più in fase...
Scusami ma non parlo inglese
As a Toyota man in clearly know nothing about LR,
So my diagnostics is, wait for it, this car is broken.
Thank you for letting us watch you working
Thank you so much Steve 😀🙏🙋♀️Vera
for me Vera it was emotional
*you're* (you are) 🖒
Don’t listen to the idiots your channel is excellent
Christian & Vera, you are really taking and teaching Toyota owners the fine art of masochism at the next level by buying this Disco. Cannot wait to follow you with other current and past LR owners with our masochistic tendencies in rebuilding this project 👍
Ditto. Too right, we're all behind you, us Brits, Christian and Vera 110%
Why did it drive limp mode?
The fact you cared so much about the previous owners feelings , this shows how good people you both are the same with offering to return the car if minor , great channel and people
Changed to 5w-40 Magna tech last week - much quieter starting & running but the major improvement is crankshaft anxiety levels now at all time low.
I was running 5w50 crank still snapped 2009
Love the colour of the new mall crawler. I think you have seized pistons.
This viewer from the UK doesn't think you're a fool and I love your videos 👍
Keep up the good Videos
The engine failure issue I would guess is a locked up rear main crank journal - spin in the cap oil starvation #.
You guys are amazing! Really looking forward to watching you repair this.
Good Luck
I think it must be the crankshaft that snapped, preventing it from turning as its locked up inside the motor.
Thanks a ton for all the great videos
yep - i think so too
Common fault apparently
I think the crankshaft is broken between second main bearing and third conrod bearing. Reparing cost about €4000.
😅🙋♀️
You absolute nutters! I am not brave enough to even buy one LR3/LR4 and here you are. I'm calling it you are going to open up your own little LR specialist auto repairs garage from your workshop :)
Christian…Being an Englishman I can only apologise profusely for the behaviour of theses idiots calling you names on the internet.
I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and what comes across is you’re an extremely competent and intelligent man. And as a D3 owner of 13 years I find your advice extremely useful.
Thank you.
👍🙏🙋♀️
Another Toyota driver, following channel. As I only have knowledge on how to make a nice tasting cafe latte or espresso, I can't really guess what went wrong with this engine. I suspect spun big end bearings due to lubrication related failure. All I have in my toolbox is a big hammer so I shall watch with great interest as this repair job will be beyond the tools that I have.
Hello from the UK. Too many "experts" on facebook I'm afraid. I admit I know very little about Land Rovers but am learning from your videos. Love the channel, keep up the good work.
Thanks!
Snapped crankshaft....I hope not though...love the content👊
Were this case here is a likelihood chips would be visible in the filter (you found none) and it is possible impending failure would be shown with an oil light on the dash (together with a ‘boing’ ??)
Watching with interest to discover the reason for failure. Ignore the FB comments, they are just bitter and twisted and upset they’re not the ones with thousands of followers. I promote your channel whenever I can especially when there’s a post “I’ve bought a D3/4 what do I need next” (this is not an attempt to influence your judging decision, honest)
Keep up the good work, it’s pure gold.
Stuart (President of the Artic Frost D3 owners club)
UK viewer here and look forward to your videos and expertise. Ignore the embarrassing negative comments, your skills are next level
You guys are really nice. Such empathy for the previous owning family. Their costs and shattered dreams. Bless you both 🙏
My guess is seized engine due to oil pump failure also using 10w dumbass oil
I am from the uk and I always look forward to Sundays because two of the most entertaining and competent Land Rover experts post there videos on Sundays
Never fail to make me smile and always amaze me with Christian’s home manufactured land rover special tools oh my God love you guys 😁😁😁😎
I can't give you a clear explanation of what LR4's problem is, but eventually you will find and solve this problem. Because of this, we will all be happy with your good intentions with a joyful heart. Looking forward to the next episode....From Seoul, Korea.
As far as the Facebook comments go, do what I did and ditch FB, my life has been a lot happier since.
The fact you’re are willing to sell it back to the original owner shows that you’re decent people and please just ignore the idiots with nothing better to do with their time
I love you guys. Don’t you worry about the trolls and their Facebook comments. Keep doing what you do. 👍🏻
