As a fellow Warhammer player its fun to see you learn how to paint, I've been doing it for years now its so rewarding when it's done. Great video mate.
@@geekprint3416 If was to say anything always have the right tools I have a brush for each type of painting. One for my base layer, one for my dry brush and one for my highlights (make sure the highlight brush is super small makes life easier) . If you haven't heard of shade paints maybe look into those they are great for picking out areas that you may not see. It's a learning process but just have fun with it. Again really liking this channel.
another amazing vlog. so incredibly well put together and entertaining. i really want to see more vlog style content from you, no matter the topic. i can’t wait for the next video!
Obviously talking about food on the live streams isn't enough, now you must show us cooking of food too! And as someone involved in roller derby, I couldn't help notice the derby girl on the obligatory beer can. Another great video Jonti.
My husband has got me into warhammer, currently painting up a skink army which is super fun! I would suggest looking into wet palettes they keep the paint fresh up to a week without it drying up.
Just looked up Skinks and they look awesome! If you are a member of the Geekism Discord, we have a place to share stuff there, I’d love to see your progress! A wet palette was actually one of the MANY things I bought from the hobby store, you can see it briefly as I paint the figure towards the end of the video. It’s SUPER useful!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane - I spent my early teens obsessed by Warhammer - playing in friends lofts and spending hours painting the models. Loving the style of these vids, the pacing is spot on
Great video, enjoying something different as a Geekism subscriber! Good luck with the 3D modelling, as a game developer I use blender, (usually for low poly art assets, primarily a coder!)
Nothing wrong with having a gut, we work hard to get that Jonti 😆, or eat and drink hard 🤷♂️, also loving the vids, learning blender is one thing I want to try and get into, keep up the awesome work 🙂
Geek Print I know that feeling lol, even easier to keep as of late, also the beers have you tried any of the Cumbrian local brews, I know it might be hard to get a hold of at the moment but there’s a few good ones about 👍
Oh man this is awesome! The Game Chamber brought me here! My go to store. Heck, its like a second home really! Hope to meet you in person soon! Also subscribed to your channel. AR
Hey Abdul! Thanks so much for watching! I’m sure I’ll be down there again soon, so we’ll bump into each other! Once it’s safe to do so I’ll definitely be attending some events there too!
Nice vlog and you posted it in a sleepless summernight so i had something interesting to watch!!! It's going every episode more interesting and i love that you don't focus only printing but also introduce your daily events. Have a nice sunday with your lovely family
Very nice. There is definitely a feeling of satisfaction when making your own models, but don't let the desire/dissatisfaction of using someone else's models be a detractor. There are tons of models that have distinct styles and looks that you may look at and go "that's what's in my head" but it took them years to get to that style and design. You'll have your own, as will others. But don't worry so much about "uh, it's not something I made" and print it anyway while using it as motivation for continuing to learn. I struggle with organic, so I do Fusion 360 (practical prints), and my first actual useful model was... a tube with notches. It took me 3 days to get the way I needed it. I took every opportunity to say "we need something? Let me try and 3D print it", would research if something already existed, and if it didn't, Fusion 360 was opened. Now I believe I can do the same model in about 20 min tops. It's been a year (I did a double take as I didn't realize it's been a full year since I started modeling my own stuff), and I expect you'll get much better each week.
Oh totally. There’s some incredible stuff out there that I could never create, I’m happy to ‘subsidize’ my own stuff with others. It’s just... a lot of other 3D print channels will just find a file, print it, show it off and be done... and I’m like ‘Great, but what have you actually accomplished?’ yunno? Lol
@@geekprint3416 I get it. Though depending on the channel, they may just be showing off the same models because they need to use the same model for consistency. But it varies greatly.
I definitely need to send you my D&D character file from hero forge, haha. Love these vids, man. I'll be diving into the painting part of this hobby in the next few weeks, myself.
The clip with Xander at the end was so cute. I've been meaning to check out my local hobby store, I have not been to one in ages and this video gave me that push I needed.
(wanders over from the main channel) The husband came in while I was watching this and said you *can* get a completely shaved head on HeroForge by selecting hair, then de-selecting it. No peach fuzz option though.
Great vlog again! Can't wait to see the new features hero forge is adding with their new kickstater release. How tall did you end up making your hero forge character?
Just comming around to catch up on geek print videos. (Sorry Jonti, the last half of july and everything afterwards was just ... mental.) I really should watch this videos like taking medecine, because they relax me so much and I simply enjoy your narrating. Don't know what to think about the foodporn though, as it's currently 2.30 am here and now I'm starving because of your video. ;) And the glimpse of the hobby shop really made me want to play D&D again.
RIP Geekism the video game channel. All Hail Geekism the Miniature Hobby content maker. I bet I haven't played more than 10 games since I started getting into the minitature hobby full steam 3 years ago.
Talking about a shaved head when my first thought was "Wow, his hair has grown a lot already." When you mentioned hobby stores on the stream, I pictures something completely different. More like and arts and crafts store. Is Xander excited that you paint with him now? My technique would be more like his. I still have no idea how I'm able to paint my nails, but can't draw a straight line otherwise.
Yeah it’s grown super quick, I’m considering cutting it again tbh, just not a Mohawk! So yeah, we have big ‘hobby stores’ too, that sell arts, crafts and everything like that, the big chain here is ‘Micheals’. But I wasn’t too sure what else to call these smaller miniature/table top stores. Xander LOVES painting... he would do it all day if he could... the fridge is covered in his artwork lol
Great video! Just FYI, you can make a shaved head by just removing the hair the same way you can remove an item you've placed. Click on the currently selected hair style and it will be removed.
I'm really enjoying these!!
Thanks for watching!
These videos just keep getting better! 👍 Also, love Xander's painting technique! 🤣
Thanks! And yeah... he’s a modern Jackson Pollock!
Xander having some great fun making a mess there at the end 🤣.
Mess?! It was a masterpiece! :D

The small craft beer segment in this series is one of my favorite parts! I can't wait to get back to Toronto to try some of them!
