    I'm just a weekend hacker in my woodshop. love working with wood. but no way consider myself a woodworker. Its a hobby. but I fell in love with the artistry of violin making these past months and am in awe but also aware of The Art of Plagiarism over time. but in a good way, it's that , That has kept the traditions alive and eager minds to adapt to the ways of the past Luthiers. thanks for sharing with this humble fan.ECF

    I am lucky to have been left a Leonardo Bisiach modelled on a 1719 Strad. Then a Serafin Venice 1735. Beautiful instruments to see play and hear.

    The violin maker i knew and he was like they said one of the top in the USA was Luiz Bellini I had seen the proses how he started and gave the violin almost the same look and sound of the original.He made both two copies Guarneri and Stradivari four instruments about each year I played some of those.

    My curiosity: Why is the sound post inside a violin only one and not two so as to transmit the vibrations from both contact points of the bridge...? There would be symmetry if there were two sound posts instead of just one.

    • @aurynaichi7030
      @aurynaichi7030 2 роки тому +3

      I doubt two posts would be useful and its positioning appears to be largely convenience because it has to be inserted and positioned from the outside. I'm sure other ways have been tried but the effects virtually undetectable. Placement appears to be case of taste, but it also appears to act as a support under the high pressure area under the bridge. There will be a sweet spot and although I've read about it being too tightly or too loosely wedged, being overly tight likely interferes with the front plate's acoustics. Two posts or a larger wider post would likely take away from the instrument and its required tone.

      Mechanical symetry is not the goal. Areas of strength and mass move weaker areas, the grain of the wood acting as a lever. Imbalance causes more vibration making the wood "breath" more than if everything inside was balanced out.

    • @flrn84791
      @flrn84791 Рік тому

      Because on the other side there is the bass bar that makes the whole top and back vibrate as one. You don't need 2 sound posts, one is enough to convey the sound to the back. Placement is not "case of taste", it's very precisely near the foot of the bridge near the E string.

      Because the second would interfere with the first.

    Just to think. In 1710 Australia hadn’t be settled by white guys and Stradivarius had already finished his career and Italy had brought to perfection the art of violin making.

    Second comment. I was plagued by over 10 advertisements during this video way too many. it might stop me from watcing them if this kind of abuse continues. two or three is exceptable. 8-10 no!

      So just use an ad blocker like Ublock Origin in your browser... in a video that long no wonder you had so many ads... It's in no way the fault of the channel or video maker.
