I collect movies, video games, models cars, sports card ,music CD's, regular books, comic books, and baseball caps. The reason I collect is because it's things I'm interested in and I always wanted to have a collection.
I started collecting Fully in the year of 2012 when I found star wars the original trilogy on vhs and that's my first introduction to movie collecting. Since then I've acquired about 235 movies I might have collected more than that since then. I was inspired to collect movies by various movie collectors Like @Cinemasickness @Movie Bug
Now when it comes to video games the only systems I collect for currently are as follows: 1. Ps2 2. Xbox360 3. NES Nintendo 4. Soon to come ( PS4) 5. Soon to come (PS3) 6. Nintendo wii 7. Xbox one 8. Super Nintendo 9. Soon to come ( Nintendo DS)
My first 2 video games I got into was Super Mario bros on the Super Nintendo and Enter the Matrix on PS2. Since then I've been on the hunt for each system I currently have and all of the games within them.
The main difference is that a collector will treat their collectibles with R-E-S-P-E-C-T while a hoarder couldn't care less where or how their stuff is stacked up or what condition it ends up in as long as they have it somewhere...
I think collecting for me started out because of the nostalgia, but later on, moved over to an interest in video game history and the games and consoles I never got to play. And it's like you said Rick, it takes me back to a time of comfort.
For me, it’s the thrill of the hunt. I love finding a game or figure that I’ve been searching for to add to the collection. But also, I just enjoy being in my game room and thumbing through my games.
I think the difference between a hoarder and collector is the organization. When you have to trudge through your collection to live, then you have a problem. That and not being to let go of stuff in order to make room for newer stuff.
I was gonna say organization too, but you beat me. Rick, if you think you have to trudge through your collections, you've never seen a hoarder's domicile... It's terrifying.
This is the answer, lol. A collector will have things put away and curated. They are also almost always proud to show off and talk about their collections to others. They also can come to the realization that they may have to part with something that no longer has value to them as it once did to either get some money back or make way for something else that now has value. A hoarder gains a compulsion for collecting any and all things for the sake of having it. Once they lose themselves to their mania for collecting, their home simply becomes a storage facility for their "hoard," and basic life tasks (such as walking around in their home) becomes difficult as their home becomes more and more disorganized, if not dangerous. They also have an extreme difficulty for giving up and parting ways with things that have little or zero value to them. These types usually end up reaching a crisis point and selling off their collections usually down the line, at least in video games.
A lot of hoarders have very specific organization to how they store their junk. Like, you can ask them for a specific thing and they will go through a half mile of single-person lanes between towering towers of junk and hand you that specific thing.
I collect tabeltop game tarot cards, high end headphones, headphone amps and t-shirts. Now I am working on my personal tattoo collection. The reason is I have an addictive personality. I get really into something and I want to know all about it. Watching channels like this make me live vicariously through the hunt without having to buy and spend things like this. For most of my adult life I was used to living out of a suitcase, so I didn't have the luxury of collecting things. The differences between a collector and a hoarder are: 1. Collectors curate a collection and have ideas about what makes it complete. Hoarders collect with little or no discretion. 2. Collectors get rid of duplicate stock. Hoarder's don't. 3. Collectors are happy to talk about their collection. Hoarders generelly are more secretive for fear of coming across as being mentally ill. 4. Collectors will loan out items from their collection to the right people. Hoarders generally won't ever loan out for fear of losing it. 5. Collectors will set items in special places and spend time with presentation and storage. Hoarders often can be distracted and will store things but not for display. 6. When your collection negatively impact your life or mental well-being in a significant way, it's no longer collecting, it's hoarding. I think it comes down order and structure when collecting, and not being in a confused state when hoarding.
There really is no one cooler or more level headed about all of this collecting/reselling vintage gaming stuff than Rick. He seems like the most genuinely nice and friendly dude ever. Really enjoyed this conversation format.
The simple answer to why people collect is it's fun ...whereas other things in life are boring..paying taxes, paying rent, renewing your license, changing your oil ect..ect..I know because I'm a serious collector of toys, comics and trading cards (sport and non sport). Without collecting I don't think life would be too much fun honestly.
I've got 176 Aladdin VHS copies, and why you may ask? Something to do haha. Am I a hoarder? maybe? But they're all on a movie store display rack in my movie room! I also like to buy items that no one else would have in their house for example I have a Pepsi machine. It's all good conversational pieces. Enjoyed the video guys keep up the great work!
Basically I collect my past. Any games, movies, or toys that I have positive memories with. It's the appeal of owning something tangible and part of another time you can almost live in again. Nostalgia strikes that bittersweet chord for me. I try to keep it in check though, and not hoard lol
The joy of finding games or items you remember and getting them at a good price. Shows movies cartoons toys n games bring the calm of childhood memories no worries or adult duties.
I think the difference between hoarding and collecting tending to the stuff, if that makes sense? A collection is well taken care of (for the most part, sometimes things get away from us), it’s in some kind of order or condition. When I think of a hoarder I think of a messy pile of stuff. Great discussion fellas. Thanks for putting it together
Most collectors will at least have a dedicated area to tastefully showcase their collections. Hoarders on the other hand accumulate items and keep them anywhere and everywhere, which could never be visually pleasing lol... I just have a few tiny collections consisting of PS4 video game steelbooks, video game art books and comic book paperback trades 🤙🏽
Excellent topic. I collect retro games for the same reason you said as you go into your game room. You hit a comfort zone and being able to pick up a random game that you haven't touched in years is so satisfying. Especially with how crazy our world is now.
To me there is such an immense, true joy to found in the act of collecting. There is joy in learning all about that field youre interested in, joy in slowly building up an inventory of something, joy in going through all the stuff youre collecting, and so on. It gives me the drive to keep living
Judging by the length, or lack there of, of Tendo's beard I am guessing this was filmed during his and Hanna's recent visit. Great stuff! Would love more of this kind of content for sure.
was not looking at the screen when the video start then heard tendo voice and I was like... wait what!!! did he return there again, but then I check the screen I see the lack of beard and I'm like ok it's not recent lol.
There's so many reasons for this. Nostalgic is one of them. We like to have them around as a display because they're part of our childhood. We don't need to play them just having them around just remembering parts of our life. Same as video games most of them we don't play but having them physical in your gameroom is just better than digital because you own them and no internet need it. Pretty much what they called a hobby so if your family or partner support you what you love then that's awesome.
I think the number one line between hoarding and collecting is being able to know what you want to collect for certain reasons. If you collect something that is nostalgic to you and then finish it and find something else you used to like, thats collecting. If you constantly are finding "new" things to "collect".. when you have no reason, but you just find other "new" stuff to collect all the time, that is hoarding in my mind.
CD's - Vinyl - & Cassettes!! I love music especially the physical formats! I like to hold them, look at them, display them, hunt them out of prints down, listen to and experience them, and just know I own them for the rest of my days! I also love video games but I dont collect them anymore because my music hobby is too epensive alone. Great content guys!
I love videos like these on seeing other people’s reasons on why they love collecting. I love VHS collecting that’s what I’m collecting more of as of right now. But anything 80s and 90s VHS, toys, and games I collect I just love the nostalgia and emotion feeling I get from my childhood finding these things. Great video keep up the good work love your channel. 👍
Very Cool to see you both together...love both your channels. I collect for the nostalgia and good memories of growing up. Like you, I'll play for a little bit here and there to decompress and to share with my kids what I grew up with.
Interesting topic! I think that hoarding is also on the "eye of the beholder". Some of my friends and and relatives think I'm a hoarder bc I collect videogames and movies. They don't care that I have everything organized and nicely displayed. Whereas some think that it's the coolest thing they've ever seen and say that my collection and gameroom looks like a museum. Go figure 😅
I collect things that remind me of my childhood. Growing up, I had a big GI Joe collection. When I was 12, my parents decided that I didn't need them anymore. I collect GI Joe toys mainly. My video game collection is also a result in a way of my parents trying to make me grow up before I was ready to. I often tell my wife that the video games and toys I buy are far less harmful than other things I could be buying.
I love that you guys spoke about it openly and explain it so many can have a better understanding about collecting but more about myself i consider myself an Extreme collector and i mainly see it as pieces of my childhood that really bring me joy and it like you express its an escape from everyday life
Love your UA-cam channel and I started collecting my old video games 6 years ago love playing with my 2 boys and teaching them about old school games you guys are amazing!!!!
I collect things that I like plain and simple be it vinyl, games, movies, or skateboards. I believe that the point of collecting vinyl, video games, and movies is to maintain and protect these pieces of art in my eyes.
I feel wierd sometimes but when I sit down and chill in my man cave with all my legend of Zelda statue and games I smile makes me feel super good. To me a hoarder is someone that can’t let go of anything that they collect and collect a bunch of items that they don’t even care about and has no value in your life.
@@MovieGuy0896 I would start by Ocarina of time or a link to the past, the good part of Zelda games you can play witch ever at anytime because they all have there own story to tell in a unique way.
I collect Star Wars Black Series Figures. I have 278 currently, and I started in October 2023, and my spreadsheet says I have spent $10,489 on them (Freight not included). I am running out of shelf room, so I will stop at 300 which will pretty much mean no more room, so I will have to stop! ha ha ha! cheers for the video guys!
I love your channel. I collect retro games, 80's and 90's WWF VHS and Colorado sports teams memorabilia. I like collecting because I like playing video games and just like to have stuff to display.
Love hearing yells thoughts on collecting. It's great to see tendo and hannah back in Arkansas again hope they find some great things to pick up while here.
Nostalgia is definitely one of the biggest reasons I collect. I collect Video Games, Toy Figurines and action figures, Model and RC cars. I have 3 kids and to be able to bring out a game or a toy I played with when I was a kid and play with them that's one of the greatest feelings ever. I would love to have a full collection of Pontiac Firebird Trans Ams, not toy models the real things, one of every generation and model variant, but that would get expensive and I don't have the garage space for it. I do however own two Trans Ams now one is the "wife's" but its really mine also.
When you walk into my house you’re transported to the 50s/60s. The majority of furniture, paintings, decorations is vintage Mid Century Modern. I just love the aesthetics and built quality so I’m always on the look out for it. Then there’s my game/toy room and it’s my childhood from the 80s and 90s.
The pure excitment in your voice is why we all collect things. 90s cartoons and comics are what im all about. Use to like records and old antquics ingeneral but since i had a kid i narrowed what i collect down to a lot of what retro rick here likes for the most part, im not into video games. Thats my wifes thing ha.
I legitimately just got back into collecting 1:24 NASCAR diecast cars. NASCAR was super present in my childhood and I've gotten back into it during COVID. It just feels good owning memorabilia associated with my favorite driver (Jeff Gordon) and driver I currently support (Matt Dibenedetto).
I am a huge "Battle of the Planets" fan. I loved that show as a kid. Small collection but selling on ebay to grow it. I'm a ripe young 52 and I love the content on your channel.
I think as a Toy channel, I look at it like it’s part of my income nowadays. But before it was definitely about the nostalgia & just posing figures around Is so fun to me.
Retro Rick I came across your channel by UA-cam recommendation and I must say I relate to what you said 5:10-5:50 I have a few things from 90s and like you said you take me back to great simple times I been collecting 90s hot wheels and some of my favorite vhs movies from 80s & 90s and just thing’s I like from the past I love nostalgia things.
life can be hard, I completely agree with collecting being a release from the daily stressors. That really goes for any hobby, it’s meant to bring you joy and be somewhat therapeutic. I enjoy a variety of things and always try new things sometimes I make up new hobbies😂
Rick, thank you! I found your channel in August and immidiately started my game collection. My first go at a thrift store I found a NEAR mint copy of Mario 64 and Yoshi’s Island for $1 and a silver slim PS2 for $5. I then set aside about $300 instead of $10, which completely strained our budget and left us in fear for bills... But your guidance is proven true!!! I did the same thing you did but I hit those bigger bundles on Craigslist and Facebook. Our first 5 eBay sales made $550!! And there are $1000s of value left in consoles, games, and peripherals that are just for sale now! And now that $300 is just freakin’ snowballing to more value with each new purchase I make. I am using a 3:7 ratio to determine return on each item, IE: If I buy at $3, it must have value of AT LEAST $10, but obviously buy for less if you can. Big bundles blows this ratio out of the water!!! Aside from making money, I am keeping things I want. I now have PS1-4, Xbox original to One, EVERY Nintendo from NES to Switch, an awesome Intellivision collection, Sega Genesis and tons of CIB games for all of it! I don't even have room for all of this stuff! Today I found a SEALED Mario Kart Wii for $2 at Goodwill. Rick, seriously, thank you!
I collect makeup, nail polish and a particular brand of pottery and even though the objects are very different from yours, everything you said was right on! The feelings and drive behind it for me are essentially the exact same. Also, there is nothing better than organizing and reorganizing, cleaning and dusting things off, etc. lol
If you run out of room for your collection, and things start piling up on the floor, and there is no room to move or walk without causing possible injury, and it keeps getting worse, then you have a hoarding problem.
I collect knives, 1:64 diecast muscle cars, architecture & art books, photography stuff, mechanical pencils, caps, and other nostalgic items from my childhood.
Your collection and this UA-cam SLAP my dude. The nostalgia feelings I get from your channel are just the best. Also, from a different perspective, you're a historian of sorts if you really think about it.
I grew up going to garage sales almost every weekend of the summer with my dad, so I think a lot of my collecting is a combo of that “thrill of the hunt” but also childhood memories of doing the same w/ my dad. I mostly collect Pokémon cards, video games, and artwork but I still love picking up random cool stuff that I think looks interesting. A few weeks ago I got a ceramic dish with the Hershey’s Kissables logo on it: they were mini candy-coated Hershey’s kisses that I feel like almost no one remembers but me because they were only around for a few years in the early 2000’s. But I loved them as well as the design of their logo so I had to have it.
Definitely nostalgia! My memories of my past are hazy at best but my memories of playing video games back in the day stick out. It was a simpler time and I miss it, especially the 90s.
I collected comic books for 30+ years until recently. 1 have collected baseball cards, coins and stamps over the years. Eventually I sold a good part of the collections for financial reasons. I'm still collecting but my focus shifted to books and movies. For me it was the artwork that drew me in. When you have a limited budget and space you have to decide what stays and what goes
I collect consoles, video games (Nintendo, Playstation, some XBOX and soon Dreamcast), plushies (Pokémon, video game characters, Japanese mascot characters and Anime characters), anime movies, and anime figures. I collect because it brings me joy and I love to arrange things in a certain fashion. Video games are a big hobby of mine as well as art, so I see some piece of my collection as art pieces. One day, I’d like to have a big game room I can go to at the end of a long day to unwind and bring me comfort.
I collect what I love I have games I grew up playing back in the day there's games and consoles that I've discovered and missed out on I'm a huge Mario fan I collect anything and everything Mario related trying to get every single game I have a majority of them so far
I collect mostly videogames , but i have other collection ( Pokemon Cards , Action Figures , Comics , Vinyl Records ) i'm almost 53 years old , and collect because these things relive my immagination , when i play , i return as a child , when dayreaming to be the hero of my games. I don't have a game room because my house is small , but i don't bother. I not like labeling people for their behavior , i and others collect because we want to. Is not the object iitself , is the motivation behind. Collect and don't mind to seems strange or weird for other people , this is my mantra in the past and the future. 😁😁😁
I’m collecting video games ps2 ,PS4 & Nintendo Ds and I do get excited about video games etc thanks for sharing your video with me & it’s very interested question it’s bring my back to me ,my childhood life and thanks Retro Rick & Tendo 🙏🙏❤️❤️🔥🔥
Heh, we collect so, so much stuff. We often remark that it's not hoarding as long as it all has a place--meaning so long as it's on a shelf... lol It's pretty cool to see a Mythbuster collecting stuff.
Man I wish I had your collection Rick!! I'm 45 and remember starting with Atari then going to nintendo and I sold all my games about 9 years ago and I had some Rare games like megaman x3 and others and I just unloaded the whole lot.... Now i'm wishing I had not sold any of me stuff after watching your channel!!!
When my grandad died he left a rented storage unit, 2 houses, and 7 sheds full of stuff. We lit a bonfire and it burned for a week as we sorted through it all. At one point the fire got too big and took out the fence. We live in a throw away culture where all our hard efforts end up in the dump. I have saved good money not being so quick to throw things away, but when I die I aim to have saved more treasure rather than trash. Having said that I'm going for a complete set on the Milton Bradley Microvision.
This video messed me up. I was confused for a minute, "wait, tendo didn't leave the state again yet." Lol then a realized the face hair was missing again. I think hoarding is when you stop organizing and admiring your things, that's when it stops being a collection and starts being a hoard.
I consider my self a hot wheels, vinyl records, and music memorabilia collector. I started back in 2010. Now I have realized that some of the things I collect are collecting dust. Why? Because I have to many. So as of last year I’ve toned it down. Covid helped haha but I still purchase the items I really will enjoy on a daily/weekly basis.
I used to collect stuff too, and then I realized it wasn't making me happy and was taking time and focus away from things that actually did make me happy. I was doing it because to chase nostalgia, but that's unhealthy in the long run since it doesn't actually lead to happiness, it just leads to chasing more nostalgia every time the effect wears off. I think many collectors are doing the same thing or trying to satisfy some compulsion for having a complete collection of something. And I see some people who just want to collect something, as if having the collection isn't important, it's the act of collecting that brings them joy. And that's probably the short rush of finding something to add to the collection, which I has experienced many times. That rush isn't much better than chasing likes on social media. You may as well just be hooked to a machine that injects dopamine right into your brain because that's all it is. Collecting lead me to realize some stuff about myself. I realized that I needed something deeper to satisfy me. That ended up being writing music and programming. So instead of working towards some sort of collection, my efforts go towards honing my own skills and knowledge. My efforts make me better, not my collection. And they even make me a lot of money, way more than owning rare video games ever could. Consider this, if your house burns down and your collection is completely destroyed, what have you really gained from collecting for all these years? You'd be right back to square one and view those years as having been wasted. Maybe you would rationalize it somehow, but it's hard to lie to yourself.
At 2k games I am sitting near the crazy collector status. I like to have my collection for playing. I want anyone to walk in and be able to find that memory they want to relive. My gameroom is my chill out room and I love it. I collect because I love looking at the past and seeing what I remember and what I missed. It is a great hobby and I enjoy the hunt. There is nothing that can stop me.
I collect video games and OG Thundercats figures.I collect games to catch up on what I missed growing up as my family wasn't bought video games.I went from Atari to N64 when I purchased said 64 myself.Nostalgia and thrill of the hunt are indeed reasons.Catalogging is definitely fun especially watching the changing of values
I enjoy the hunt more than anything. I have so many games I'll probably never play but it's fun to find games. Some of it is the nostalgia too. I never really could buy the systems and games I wanted when I was a kid. So, now as an adult, I just enjoy buying some of those things.
Going for a complete licensed nes cart manual box us collection minus stadium events. After some trades, I'll be needing around 120/160/230 cart/manual/box. Out of 680 of each, so thats not too far away...
I collect vhs and games mainly, but certain toys that I like I'll pick up and add to the collection. Also collect fishing equipment. I'm a outdoorsman nerd.
It comes down to, its every kids dream to have a room full of games and consoles, so when we reach adulthood and start having excess to adult money, we go make that dream come true that you had as a kid and go mad buying everything and anything we wanted but couldn't have as kids.
You could say we were poor back then as we were kids and new toys or games were super rare (birthday and christmas, everything else was totally out of question) On top of that my mom forbid everything that was to fighting-related in her eyes. As a young adult i saw some of the stuff i really really wanted as a kid but never got. I realised nobody could stop me and now i could afford it. Thats how it started. So for me its a mix of nostalgia and trying to catch up on my childhood. Now that sounds sad, but it wasnt that bad ;-)
Trying to cut down on collecting, especially during this recession. As I get older, and not having any kids, I get sad that my collection will get donated or tossed when I am gone. That's why I do try to sell some now for some needed cash.
To me, the difference between a hoarder and a collector is being able to understand when things are out of control being willing to make a change if it’s necessary
I'm a collector of anything related to the Miami Dolphins. There my favorite football team. The history, logo, and colors, is why I'm a Dolphins fan. Collecting feels very nostalgic and younger. The overall passion of collecting and attchment.
I always go to stores like Savers or Consigment, and try to narrate in my head (to my subscriber of ONE) the way Rick does. I love this stuff, and being introduced to so many other cool guys that appreciate the same is awesome. I get nothing out of this, but I'll also add --- JOIN PATREON, Rick is my actual 1st and only that I do so with, and love it!!!!
My late Mother got me into collecting coins. Now that I am way, way, way order it’s refreshing to see adults like collect toys, games etc. I enjoy collecting stuff with my Son.
Oh man. I love your place. I would never leave! So much nostalgia 💙 I collect games, Masters of the Universe and various other 80's toys. I also consider myself a high functioning horder. It does get to a point where you need to have the space you have and swap out stuff.
You should both have a list of games that you're still looking for, if you haven't already. Make it public and see if you can find the missing games etc.
The difference between a hoarder and a collector is that a hoarder will not sell off any extra games or extra systems. I am running that fine line between them. I have multiples of numerous systems and need to sell some. lol. I collect mostly video games. I have a couple thousand games. Also, I am 10 shy from a full Wii U collection.
I was into Marvel universe comic cards as a kid, Have a good job and had the opportunity to pick up factory sealed boxes of the first 4 series of them. Now the 1st series box goes for about 1500+. Its emotional to me too.
I collect video games because it’s one of the few interactive collections. I’m only at about 80 games so far but each game can provide hours of fun so it’s not just to make the shelves look nice. Also it would be so cool to pass onto my future kids one day, every kids dream is to have a basement that looks like a gamestop lol.
I have to keep myself focused on video games. Inevitably, I end up extending myself and buying books or DVDs or action figures, but I'm not serious enough about it so they end up sitting and I have to get rid of them. Gotta manage my space. Now the only toys I pick up are like Mario Happy Meal toys or things like that because it goes with the video games.
I collect video games and comics, but I'm steering towards only ones based on franchises I like, but mostly I'm an action figure collector. I'm in my 30s and my decompress is usually sitting around and posing toys, if I have something kicking my butt that I gotta walk away from, I'll pose naruto fighting carnage of something, take a pic or two and put it on instagram, and one of my best friends is the same way. Good video, I def am a bit of a hoarder as I have some tubs stored that I pull out only when changing the shelves or trading/selling stuff off.
My main focus is tmnt, anything I find is a belowed item to my collection. I also loved since I was younger collecting my favorite movies, the joy of loving a film and having it to play anytime gives me a sense of satisfaction. Taking me back to when I was younger. I will say I collect a lot, over collecting Star trek items all the way to dolls and happy meal toys, I like seeing my space filled with stuff I love. But I will set my limits, I try to collect almost everything I find of tmnt for example, but I know I will never have everything so I have to think to myself, does this fulfill me over having the item just to have it. I have a lot of respect for people like you and whoever is reading this. Its not easy and it can get dangerous, lets not fall in the rabbit hole of hoarding and set limits to what we actually want in life. Will they just collect dust or are you cleaning the dust away?
I agree we collect for nostalgia, it is our connection to our past and it is a solid memory we can go back to in the present and it is enjoyable. That's why I keep all my games. Its no where near a great collection like you and tendos but it is still part of my past and I love going back and playing them. It's like re-living your past. For a collection other then games I love Harry Potter and I do have a lot of collectable items for that. Collectors can see the floor for a start and know where it begins and ends. A hoarder will have a vast collection that becomes overwhelming that will effect them and their daily life, where it is unhealthy.
Like many viewers of yours, I mainly collect video games, but also enjoy having a bunch of cds, records, and movies. At the end of the day, I think everyone is made happy by different things, and what may be extreme to one person might seem tame to another. However, I would say that collecting starts to cross over into hoarding when it begins to impact other areas of your life. If you're going into debt to accumulate things, damaging your relationships, or making your living space uninhabitable, then that is when you should begin to really think about the impact the things you have are having on your life.
Let us know what you guys collect down below!
I collect movies, video games, models cars, sports card ,music CD's, regular books, comic books, and baseball caps. The reason I collect is because it's things I'm interested in and I always wanted to have a collection.

1. Ps2
2. Xbox360
3. NES Nintendo
4. Soon to come ( PS4)
5. Soon to come (PS3)
6. Nintendo wii
7. Xbox one
8. Super Nintendo
9. Soon to come ( Nintendo DS)
My first 2 video games I got into was Super Mario bros on the Super Nintendo and Enter the Matrix on PS2. Since then I've been on the hunt for each system I currently have and all of the games within them.
Video games, Magic cards, sports cards, firearms, books, too much actually.
I believe the main difference between a hoarder and a collector is a collector will set limits to want they want.
that is a good point
The main difference is that a collector will treat their collectibles with R-E-S-P-E-C-T while a hoarder couldn't care less where or how their stuff is stacked up or what condition it ends up in as long as they have it somewhere...
I’ll collect almost anything. I might have a problem. Thanks for having me!
Subbed too u tendo :)
You do seem to have an abundance of collections. But, it that's what you like, I say go for it.
I was not expecting to see you pop up on the screen 😂😂
had a blast my friend!
@@AngelGarcia-wz8mt glad you did...he has a great channel

the thrill of the hunt is my favorite part!
I collect so many things. Video games, Lego, Funko Pops, Lilo and stitch merchandise, Clothing, Trainers

Uh oh, I have to trudge through mine hahaha
The differences between a collector and a hoarder are:
Really enjoyed this conversation format.
oh man, what a compliment...i really appreciate it!
Heck yes, I love that!
Very true, I am boarding hoarder 😂
I think people collect for nostalgia or just because it brings them joy and they like what they collect
i agree with you Alex!
Ha definitely , we filmed a few together
was not looking at the screen when the video start then heard tendo voice and I was like... wait what!!! did he return there again, but then I check the screen I see the lack of beard and I'm like ok it's not recent lol.
I was thinking the same thing
There's so many reasons for this. Nostalgic is one of them. We like to have them around as a display because they're part of our childhood. We don't need to play them just having them around just remembering parts of our life. Same as video games most of them we don't play but having them physical in your gameroom is just better than digital because you own them and no internet need it. Pretty much what they called a hobby so if your family or partner support you what you love then that's awesome.
Completely agree, my wife puts up with my collecting hahaha
Go figure 😅
I like collecting video games as well, but I also like to collect robot model kits like Gundam's and certain toys.
I completely understand how you feel Rick!! You get such strong feelings with things you grow up with! That’s why I do it!
I believe that the point of collecting vinyl, video games, and movies is to maintain and protect these pieces of art in my eyes.
i get it, collect what you love!
I feel wierd sometimes but when I sit down and chill in my man cave with all my legend of Zelda statue and games I smile makes me feel super good. To me a hoarder is someone that can’t let go of anything that they collect and collect a bunch of items that they don’t even care about and has no value in your life.
I haven't gotten into any zelda stuff yet or even the games where should I start?
I tend to agree with you
The wii games are pretty affordable
Or a link to the past on SNES
@@MovieGuy0896 I would start by Ocarina of time or a link to the past, the good part of Zelda games you can play witch ever at anytime because they all have there own story to tell in a unique way.
Great video! Loved the dialogue between you and Tendo. Thanks.
For sure! This was actually shot a while back when they visited last
Nostalgia is definitely one of the biggest reasons I collect.
Great video and great topic. I'm loving these mid week videos rick, keep it up (:
Thanks brother! They are fun to make!
I totally agree! Thanks for checking out the vid!
Awesome video!! Glad I found this channel!
Thank you so much for stopping by!
life can be hard, I completely agree with collecting being a release from the daily stressors.
The big reason I collect is to have more of what I love man, I work like you so much but I truly love video games so old,new I collect them all
Very cool, I can relate!
It was a simpler time and I miss it, especially the 90s.
ha i get it...and then you see that one piece that brings you straight back!
I collected comic books for 30+ years until recently. 1 have collected baseball cards, coins and stamps over the years. Eventually I sold a good part of the collections for financial reasons. I'm still collecting but my focus shifted to books and movies. For me it was the artwork that drew me in. When you have a limited budget and space you have to decide what stays and what goes
i kind of always wished i got into comic book collecting
@@retrorick it's fun but the only issue I had was all of the crossovers and related issues/books. They add up quickly...
I’m glad I found this channel. Great job.
Great answer Rickey! Collect what you love
Ha well said my friend!
@@retrorick 👍👍👍
I’m collecting video games ps2 ,PS4 & Nintendo Ds and I do get excited about video games etc thanks for sharing your video with me & it’s very interested question it’s bring my back to me ,my childhood life and thanks Retro Rick & Tendo 🙏🙏❤️❤️🔥🔥
🥳🥳🥳 appreciate the cameo! Collecting is so much fun. I’m a completionist at heart. But I have to set boundaries and rules
For me its about preservation. I love knowing that if for some reason a game becomes impossible to find, that I have a copy of my own
Heh, we collect so, so much stuff. We often remark that it's not hoarding as long as it all has a place--meaning so long as it's on a shelf... lol
It's pretty cool to see a Mythbuster collecting stuff.
Ha yeah we shot a few of these while he was here! Well said also
I consider my self a hot wheels, vinyl records, and music memorabilia collector.
There is nothing that can stop me.
i tend to think the same way!
I'm a outdoorsman nerd.
oh nice! I have friends that have a fishing youtube channel!
It comes down to, its every kids dream to have a room full of games and consoles, so when we reach adulthood and start having excess to adult money, we go make that dream come true that you had as a kid and go mad buying everything and anything we wanted but couldn't have as kids.
I started collecting filled one shelf like in half a year
ha it can happen pretty quick
@@retrorick yeah it really could
You could say we were poor back then as we were kids and new toys or games were super rare (birthday and christmas, everything else was totally out of question) On top of that my mom forbid everything that was to fighting-related in her eyes.
I don't collect anything but I wouldn't be weirded out by it (unless it's something really bizarre) and your collection looks good.
To me, the difference between a hoarder and a collector is being able to understand when things are out of control being willing to make a change if it’s necessary
Cool. I follow both of you guys on the Tube. I’m totally an 80’s 90’s fanatic. 👍🏾
Thank you so much for tuning in Rance!
Awesome video as always!
Thank you my friend!
Love seeing you two together. Please keep these going! ❤️🙏
I'm a collector of anything related to the Miami Dolphins. There my favorite football team. The history, logo, and colors, is why I'm a Dolphins fan. Collecting feels very nostalgic and younger. The overall passion of collecting and attchment.
Whats that game playing in the back round?i had that game as a kid but forgot the name
Love the video! I love to collect video games the most. But i also collect manga, anime dvds, anime figures and some funko pop figures.
very cool....collect what you love!
Great idea my friend!
Lol that’s one magical beard Tendo!
He is the man!
Wow ! I Collect A Lot. CD's, VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray, Sports / Non Sports Cards, Video Games, Coins, Shot Glasses, Stamps, Comic Books, Marbles etc....
When are we getting a community discord channel?
i really need to...my problem is always time
I have to keep myself focused on video games.
If you're going into debt to accumulate things, damaging your relationships, or making your living space uninhabitable, then that is when you should begin to really think about the impact the things you have are having on your life.
well said joseph....i tend to only buy things for my collection by selling other pieces i dont need for my collection or arent attached to
