As a swifty I feel its my duty to mention that she doesn't make money from the old songs. Which is why as l as a switfty in support of my girl I refuse to listen to anything she doesn't own the rights to as much as i love them.
The thing about most Taylor Swift songs is that they get a little bit better every time you listen. Once you figure out that there's a love triangle in Folklore or that a certain song (Marjorie) is about her grandma who was an opera singer etc. the lyrics take on a new life 😁 ... plus, there's all of the Easter eggs that you could speculate about. I'm not usually someone who becomes a big fan of stars but Taylor is VERY interesting tbh
i relate to every word in this comment. I literally am the definition of repeating the same action and expecting different results with her songs. When I first heard "all you had to do was stay" I thought, eh this is some poppy song, and then a few times later I was like-this is deep. And I had the same thing with Midnight Rain last night. I was just blown away by how every lyric suddenly was part of one puzzle whereas before I thought it was good, but I didn't see its profundity.
Also Epiphany which parallels her grandfather's expierence as a soldier in one of the bloodiest battles of WW2 iirc and the war against COVID lead by doctors. Knowing that the line "and there's some things you just can't speak about" it just hits different (pun intended)
Yes, most new listeners listen to the production of her music rather than the stories she tells. She is more of a storyteller, even though she makes many hits and bops lmao . But listening to her high school years in her first album. Then her dreamy fearless era. Then listening to her growing up in speak now and getting more popular and then listening to her first significant heartbreak in Red. Then hearing the after-effects of red in 1989 and how she started over in New York and shoved her broken heart in a drawer in the opening track. Then ending, the 1989 album with New Romantics saying to continue being you no matter how many bricks are thrown at her. Then reputation starts showing the downfall of her famous 1989 era. Rep starts finding this handsome man, but she can't officially have him since she already has a boyfriend. So she cheats on her boyfriend in So it goes... Then she breaks up with her boyfriend in a getaway car, so she can have the man she describes in Gorgeous. The album ends with her telling us to call it what you want, but I'll have someone to help clean up bottles with on New Year's day. THEN, the lover starts exploring the story between the two after reputation. Lover ends with daylight, and she references back to Red with "I once believed Love would be burning red." Then, that was the first chapter of her career. Then folklore and evermore give us incredible stories she made up, and then midnights gave us old references to the first chapter of her music. Midnights ends with dear reader, which is her giving us a message. So yeah, new listeners mostly listen to beat before the story and there is nothing wrong with that, but it's just the truth. Most people will call her shit before they realize her true talent in storytelling she has. Overall I enjoyed this video, and I'm sorry for the long paragraph. I just had to say this 😭
wowww. i actually read the entire thing lol and super insightful! the fact u could track her growth in each album is insaneeee! totally makes sense too!
I don’t think she cheated on her boyfriend in Rep. She is talking about it in Gorgeous and says I’ll stumble on home to my cats, alone, unless you wanna come along… But then she does a little frustrated noise like ah I know this is wrong I’m not gonna. And as of the beginning of the song she clearly states she’s still in a relationship
@@Jellybeansatdusk the original lyrics to gorgeous were "i've got a bf [...] i haven't seen him in a couple of months" so it seems the relationship was already fading/ close to the end. or the actual lyric about not knowing what he's doing at the club speaks volumes about there being no interest anymore tbh
There's a lot more easter eggs Taylor hides in her music, her song titles, etc. that just make it so much funner and entertaining to listen to. Again, the connection that she makes and has with her fans is just unbelievable.
My favorite lyric has to be the red and daylight parallel: “Loving him was was red, burning red.” “I once believed love would be burning red, but it’s golden like daylight.” I know some people have said it’s a little too on the nose, but if you think about it, it’s really not. She’s only ever used the term “golden” to describe Joe, her current boyfriend. She started using it during reputation when she met him, but she didn’t make that song parallel until lover. If it had been in reputation, I could see where people are coming from, but the fact that she matures and realizes that true love isn’t all burning hot passion and is instead a cool golden glow is what makes it so beautiful. It’s like she referred to Joe as golden because calling their love red didn’t feel right, and then she realized it’s because she now knows what true love - a healthy, appreciated and reciprocated love - feels like. And the fact that there’s an album between her first use of red and her first use of golden and 2 whole albums between the lyric parallel? Growth. I’m obsessed. Also, don’t worry, you’ll be a swiftie in no time. My husband was like you where he just enjoyed her music but didn’t feel like a “swiftie” but I got him into the lore and now he’s had to come to the realization that he’s a swiftie after all. Lol
Omg, I loved that parallel too, especially because I listened to each album when I was living the situations she describes in both of them and those lines just feel so real. Realizing that when you first experience love and heartbreak everything feels so intense, as if it's burning red. And then finding true love, where you feel warms and protected by a golden glow, it doesn't feel like burning anymore, it feels like home. I just love Daylight so much ❤ New romantics is a total bop, but Daylight is my favorite last track
I've noticed the first mistake folks often make when diving into Taylor's discography is they miss the trees for the forest-sometimes the tabloid context can actually hurt their ability to build an unvarnished impression. They get caught up in the "mood" or the "dramatic backstory" or w.e. So they miss the details. But the details with Taylor are everything.
Just give him time to really connect with the music, then I know he will be a swiftie for life. It always happens. Without realizing it little by little you are crying in your room with her music and you think, Wow Taylor writes everything I feel
Thank you for giving her another listen, Taylor is the best rabbit hole you can fall down to. Next when you check out her tours, just be reminded that she is not a big vocalist and she knows it, but Taylor is a goddess of a performer and she'll slay the stage down to the earth's core
Loved these two videos!! Don’t know if anyone mentioned this yet but Taylor Swift wrote Speak Now solo (no other authors credited) because critics were doubting whether she was actually carrying any weight in writing sessions! And she has written/co-written every song she’s ever put out, which I think is super rare in the industry these days!! I love her songwriting roots; it’s what elevates her work. Even when it’s a pop hit, you knows it’s going to be clever and well-written. 😍
The Taylor swift universe would be insane for you to dive in. The Easter eggs, the alleged secret album that never was released. As a starter it's good to see the rollout that she did for midnight's because everything is linked together. Some fans made some really good videos that describe the topic and even though midnight's was released this year, the video analyses more than that
@@jasonpaulkim you thought you were down the rabbit hole already 😂 wait you'll see there's no real end to that By the way you're doing an amazing job and I'm glad that your video popped up in my recommendation 🥰
I absolutely loved this and the other video, there are many bars she dropped which made my jaw drop but one of the few is "Falling feels like flying till the bone crush" and "I bury hatchets but I keep maps of where I put them, Reputation precedes me" (which holy hell maybe I am clowning as we all often do in this goddamn fandom BUT Reputation precedes ME!). If you want any further suggestions about her, I'd recommend a hilarious fan's secret treasure called "Thug Story" with T-Pain which they did as a parody of "Love Story"
The Marjorie song on evermore is about her grandmother and its one of my favourite so emotional and hit home for me ... also her grandmother was an opera singer and line where she says "I'd think you were singing to me now" they added in her grandmother vocals in the background .... I'm pretty much balling my eyes out by that part!!
Literally, I became a swiftie literally less then a week ago, and I watched ur video as I was going down the rabbit hole. Seriously, my entire UA-cam history is Taylor swift videos, reacting to her albums, deep dive analysis into her career, and everything. I have also gone back and listed to almost three albums in full (evermore, folklore, and reputation, oh and lover) which I’m glad about. Originally, I only knew like some of the most famous songs off red and reputation (only LWYMMD) but now I have a whole list of my favs. And my friend is super happy abt it because she has been trying to get me to be a swiftie for like 2 years (I see where she is coming from now). Anyway, I’m still deep into the rabbit whole and I’m so happy I divided in. Also I literally can’t wait to get my folklore vinyl record for Christmas like ahhhhhh. Thank u for listening to my Ted Talk👍
Loved this video! Two lines that stand out to me: "I've never heard silence quite this loud" and totally agree with you on " you kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath". She has so many great lyrics though! Story of Us was out at a time where I was going through a very difficult breakup so I could really identify with all the lyrics.
I think the reason a lot of Taylor’s songs makes me cry is because she coordinated the albums with my hearts getting broken for different reasons though the years, so I remember how sad I was when she released dose songs, and how I listened non stop until I wasn’t sad anymore
What's so funny to me is that the general consensus is that Red is the quintessential Taylor Swift and her best album. By critics, fans etc. however it's one of the albums that did not win a grammy. Back then people called it too "all over the place". My opinion is that the people at the academy were scared to or too stuck up
A big aspect to my Taylor swift fanaticism is history. I’m currently 18, almost 19, and I’ve been a swiftie since I was 7. Over half of my life I have been jamming out or crying to her music. In a way, her eras are my eras. Even though I listen to all the albums all the time, they still remind me of who I was and how I felt when I first listened to them. There’s a lot of nostalgia, but also a great appreciation for how I’ve grown when I listen to her music. Idk if this makes any sense haha. Also, I’m seeing her in concert for the first time ever next year!!! I’m so excited!!!
Love this series! Are you gonna do this with other artists cause god I would love to hear you perspective on some of them. Especially Carly Rae Jepsen, Charli XCX, and Lorde! I think my favorite bar from her is probably the entire bridge of Champagne Problem. It such heartbreaking song despite her and her boyfriend writing it.
i think i might explore other artists depending on if i feel invested enough to do them. at the end of the day, if my heart isn't really in it i think it will result in a worse video. like i was so passionate abt these taylor ones lol. but that's not to say i won't i'm just not rlly thinking abt it right now lol one series at a time :)
Love this , would love to see more Taylor content from you cuz seeing the process of you just getting more and more into her is amazing , keep it up :)
It’s funny how I started like you did a few months ago. I listened to every album, loved them and slowly got in the rabbit hole. Now I can’t really imagine my life without her music and the fandom. Soo maybe you’ll be there too soon
something i recommend is checking out the movie/show "Journey to Fearless". It's concert footage from her first tour as well as how she got her first break-through. its really cute, and gives you a new perspective on her especially at a younger age.
My favorite Taylor lyric( which is also my ringtone) is "You call me up agian just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel In the name of being honest. I'm a crumbled up piece of paper lying here cuz I remember it all too well." I'm not crying your crying.
I really feel like as a swiftie, I started out just like you with Taylor and probably a few months ago i wouldn't even consider me a fan, but as I got to know her (assuming she's not faking her whole entire personality) through interviews, music videos, and her music "lore", while time was passing, i really started connecting with her. I think I didn't even noticed it, but as I went through defining events in my life (exams at school, passing of relatives, love, heartbreak, and many other situations) all while listening to her music (because just like you I thought it was well-written and generally good) it kind of marked me. It's probably because of how personal most of her lyrics are, even if I took them out of context to apply to myself in some of those moments. Now most of her songs feel like a part of my past, and she herself feels like a friend that was with me through all of it (corny asf,i know but it feels right to say it). I cannot think of august without thinking of a past situationship i was in, or epiphany without thinking of my grandfather, or long live without thinking of my friends, and so many other songs. It's not like i'm devoted to her in some creepy way nor that I would pass out if I got the chance to meet her, but her entire discography became such an integral part of my life by mere coincidence that now she feels like an intimate friend of mine. I think that's how I became a fan and ultimately a swiftie.
Just a note on the hierarchy Jake should be at the bottom, then Kanye, Scott and scooter and John they are equally the worst depending on time.but currently Ticketmaster is on top.
You know what? I just realized how savage young taylor was when I listen to songs like "Better than revenge" from speak now to how much she matured on the midnights album! So much growth!
check out Journey to Fearless and her rap with T-Pain from 2009 🤣 some of my favorite lyrics (yes, I'm a simp) are, well, the entirety of marjorie, the bridge of Cruel Summer, and the second verse of Cold As You
this video is so good!!! it's so nostalgic cuz that's how most of us got so into taylor swift folklore long pond studio is very good (if you have disney+) she talks all about the production of the album and discusses a lot with her producers as well~ and easter egg analysis videos on youtube's is probably the next step down the rabbit hole but it does get everyone overanalysing everything
She is indeed a rabbit hole .... I love this update from the last video! 😂😍 And yes Sparks Fly is a bop and a half, i cannot wait to hear Taylor's Version of that song 💜 The dedication in this video, Like- wow. Incredible. Good job on your research and ability to invest in her and the Swifties in the comments 💜💜💜 Midnight Rain + Maroon + Would've Could've Should've are my top 3 from Midnights bc wow And one of my fav lyrics from that album is "and i wake with your memory over me, that's a big f*cking legacy to leave"
You’re so funny!!! I think I mentioned this in my last comment for your last video but I’ve been a Swifty since the beginning. Because I’ve loved her music from the beginning, I didn’t have anyone telling me about popular music and I could form my own opinion. I like recommendations but there’s nothing like forming your own opinion. I’m also not one of those Swifty‘s who freaks out on people if someone doesn’t like her. I love Taylor but I think people need to realize not every single person is going to like someone’s music. Individual tastes are OK.
one of my favorite taylor swift lyrics of all time has to be the tolerate it bridge. Like, boy, I have NO IDEA of what "gain the weight of you then lose it" means BUT IT HURTS
I'm kind of in the same position as you are, I like her music a lot and I'm fairly new to all of it (started listening to her when midnights came out). I've watched some stuff and gone down a bit of the rabbithole (not all the way I still haven't listened to everything she put out) but I don't feel as committed to her as other fans out there. I mean she seems like a nice person and shit but idk. It's a weird place to be in because you are kind of surrounded by all of these die-hards and you're like: yeah I like it too.. anyway favorite bars rn are: her repeating are we out of the woods yet, I thought the plane was going down how'd you turn it right around and the whole bridge of marjorie
yeah lol but of course there isn't anyone saying u have to be die hard to like her stuff. she's one of my fav artists atm but i'm not obsessed obsessed...at least that's what i tell myself
THAT line in would’ve could’ve should’ve had jumped to the absolute top for me… The bridge of Illicit Affairs slaps soooooo damn hard. You come away with a great little story of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you. The outro to Other Side of the Door 😅 Literally every single line in peace bc it’s my favorite
i feel like so many people focus on the genius of Red that 1989'S lyrical potential is overlooked. Was Red a telltale sign of what was to come story-telling wise in Taylor's career? Yes. For me 1989 does that as well. 1989 is so sonically pleasing that people forget to praise its writing. I mean Clean, Wonderland, All You Had to Do Was Stay, Out of The Woods all in one album! Yes, that is the Shake it Off album, but that song was never intended to be critically acclaimed, she's the messy drunk aunt that you only see a few times a year because she's a lot. But that doesn't mean she isn't fun!
I really love how this channel is getting more attention after the Taylor Swift video last week. Checked out more of your videos and honestly you deserve so many more subs and views.❤️
my favorite album is red. favorite song is i almost do. favorite lyric is either “you’re still all over me like a wine stained dress i can’t wear anymore” or “i made you my temple, my mural, my sky. now i’m begging for footnotes in the story of your life.”
When I watched the last video, you were at like 605 subscribers, now you're at 1.37k. Glad to see it. I think John Mayer moved up the list of the swiftie most hated list since Should've, Would've, Could've.
My favorite verse/lyrics: I want auroras and sad prose I want to watch wisteria grow right over my bare feet 'Cause I haven't moved in years And I want you right here A red rose grew up out of ice frozen ground With no one around to tweet it While I bathe in cliffside pools With my calamitous love and insurmountable grief
My favorite fun fact - Taylor has a banner up in Staples Center that Kobe himself presented to her during the 1989 tour for most sold out shows there, so she officially has more banners up than the Clippers lol
u need to watch the folklore secret sessions ull understand folklore way better also the way u edit ur videos is incredible its so entertaining im not left bored for a single second keep up the good work and soon ull be too deep into the rabbit hole u won't be able to come out 😈 love the long story short reference
I have a few lyrics I am obsessed with: Cruel Summer: "And I scream for whatever its worth, I love you ain't that the worst thing you ever heard? (He looks up grinning like a devil)" That whole thing is so descriptive and you can just imagine Joe looking up at her with a wide smirk after she just told him she loves him Would've Could've Should've: "Give me back my girlhood it was mine first" It's litterally so heartbreaking how she feels John Mayor took away her childhood 💔 The entire chorus of Maroon tbh Anti Hero: "I should not be left to my own devices, they come with prices, and vices, I end up in crisis (tale as old as time)" it's so relatable and I love the way she says it My Tears Ricochet: "And if I'm dead to you why are you at the wake? Cursing my name, wishing I stayed" it perfectly captures the feeling of not being appreciated until you're out of their lives The entire chorus of Haunted also 😂 And the last one I am going to list is, Tolerate It: "What if I break free and leave us in ruins? Took this dagger in me and removed it? Gained the wait of you then loose it? Believe me I could do it." It shows how at any moment she could leave and that she dosent need to force herself to live with this pain (the dagger) but at the end of the song she repeats the first line of the song showing how she stays anyway which only makes this bridge more impact full
Not to be a reputation apologist but I think it's often viewed as a good-girl-gone-bad kind of album when it's actually not, tho it's understandable because of the kimye drama of it all 🤷♂️ The first half of the album definitely feeds that concept of fighting back and becoming a different version of herself to address all the hate she's receiving, with the songs being accompanied by a heavier-sounding production. But as you get to the second half, it's very noticeable how the mood suddenly changes. There are more love songs and the "bad girl" persona starts to fade as the production becomes less aggressive. Then it closes with "New Year's Day", a piano ballad. The album is more about finding love and peace despite all the chaos and outside forces that are out to get you. Like, the whole world may hate you but that doesn't matter anymore because you finally found that one person who'll stay with you no matter what, and that's enough.
i love how you appreciate her craft but remain transparent at the same time, i can see how deep you are falling into taylors swifts rabbit hole cus once u fall, its hard to leave it 💕
I want this man to watch the reputation tour muajajaja🐍🖤 Some of my favorite lyrics of TS are: "And you call me up again just to break me like a promise. So casually cruel in the name of being honest". "My love was as cruel as the cities I lived in. Everyone looked worse in the light." "They told me all of my cages were mental. So I got wasted like all my potential." "You're not my homeland anymore So what am I defending now? You were my town Now I'm in exile, seein' you out." "Rain came pouring down When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe."
I love how their is a Taylor album for everyone. Yet all her albums are great, I know a couple people who I’m friends with stopped listening to her from reputation and lover but ended up loving her music again after folklore came out. You inspired me to make my own hierarchy. 1. Fearless - Midnights- Folklore (I would never be able to pick between them, they both bring something different to the table) 2. 3. 4. Red (Taylors Version, without Taylor’s version 1989 would be here) 5. 1989 6. Reputation 7. Lover 8. Evermore 9. Speak Now 10. Taylor Swift
I just started watching your Taylor Swift vids! I think you should do a review of the Netflix series The Summer I Turned Pretty as season 2 releases this summer, a series adaptation of Jenny Han’s book and lots of Taylor Swift songs and Taylor re-released This Love for season 1! I would definitely send you a thank you if you did!
if you have not heard the original version of all too well from 2012 you should listen to it, it sounds so much more vulnerable and you can really hear the heartbreak in her voice (it's not taylors version but I will never stop listening to it, I love it too much)
Honestly.....10min or TV doesn't give me the feels as the og does. Something about her voice. It's not refined and she sounds as if she just cried moments before so if add the feels.
i agrgee w the setting affecting the music bro omg. i listened to atw 10 min when it came out yk and i have the whole thing memorized and i love but bro. i listened to it to the other day when it was rainy out and i was like sitting looking at the rain on my window and that shit hits different fr like damnmnn
I have a feeling that when you start finding out all the easter eggs in her songs and videos, you will need to make a video just to talk about it cause it's genius. And we will be here for sure. Great video btw
I think I know what you feel about being a swiftie. I started listening to her in June and she's by far my favorite. I listened to every single album (movie tracks and featuring too), watched every single music video, learned like 30 of her songs (which is great since English is not my first language and it takes time to learn the lyrics), and watched the documentaries and the reputation, 1989 and fearless tour. What I mean is: even though I did all of this, I can't call myself a swiftie. It seems like I'm not enough of a fan, I don't know every lyric, I wasn't in the hell of 2016, I can't see the easter eggs, and there's that fans that kind of bullies the new ones. I don't know, I just can't call myself a swiftie.
i'm the laid back type of swiftie where i don't make the theories or do the deep dives i let other people do it and then watch their 1m explanation its very relaxed and nice, there are different levels lol
I commented on the last video about the folklore love triangle. I was just wondering if you listened to them again with that in mind and what you thought of it.
i remember!! i actually had already filmed this before seeing ur comment but when i do look back at it i will make sure i include my thoughts in a video!!
No one cares but I love the Great War so much. It's the song I got attached the most to in Midnights. And ofcourse there's also midnight rain BECAUSE U ALREADY KNOW WHY.
lol here's the correct list of those hated by swifties, from most to least: 1) john mayer 2) scooter braun 3) kanye west 4) jake ticketmaster's like above them all
My fav lyrics by Taylor of all time are from this part in Ivy: I wish to know The fatal flaw that makes you long to be Magnificently cursed It´s completly fine if you don´t like the twins as much as the other albums! I´m actually the complete opossite lmao. Fearless is my least listen to album and from Red I listen only to half of the songs (Sad Beautifil Tragic is my fav). But because I´m a huge Florence and the machine simp, Evermore and Folklore are much more the style I generally listen to on daily bases. Ivy is my favourite Taylor song (and I swear it´s not just because of the sapphic origin), Evermore, Happiness, Cony Island and oh gods, how nice does Willow sound??? And baby Taylor, the debute album - I think everyone agrees that it is the weakest album but we have such a soft spot for it in our hearts. If you haven´t watched the Rep Tour on Netflix, you def should! I get chills every time. I remeber standing in the stadium and while I´ve been to a lot of concerts, the fact that I´ve felt the same kind of intimacy there as at a Florence concerts still blows my mind.
I dont know what makes one a "swiftie" butbhaving grown up through all the 'eras' just a few years younger than her, every boy ive evey liked has his own dedicated taylor song. Listening to her music is like listening to my past. ❤
my favorite lyrics from taylor swift is literally the entire of Beautiful Ghosts, which is a song she wrote for the Cats movie soundtrack, the storyline she said that inspired her makes it so much more meaningful than it already is just from the lyrics alone! you should really look it up and listen to it in the middle of the night while looking at the sky
dude i love you this was great, loved your analysis and everything tbh when clicking on the video i thought it'd be negative but dude wow im a swiftie btw
Omggggggg my favorite Taylor “bar” is And you call me up again just to break me like a promise So causally cruel in the name of being honest Or And I was never good at telling jokes, but the punchline goes I’ll get older but your lovers stay my age -All Too Well 10 minute version(tv) Like those lines just hit so hard
Honestly, one of the main reasons why Taylor is so popular is because of her originality and ability to spontaneously try new sounds in her ‘eras’ especially when moving through genres. When you get to know her as well as her music, you need to know the backstory and the inspiration behind it. As said by many, Red (Taylor’s Version) is a masterpiece and the reason why is because all of the lyrics and stories within the songs came from the heart. Folklore and evermore where a complete 360 jump from her classic pop or county album vibe but it gained so much attention because of the storytelling and poetry. Lover seems chaotic on the surface but LOVE is chaotic. Love is FEARLESS and it doesn’t always make sense; I believe this is what makes the album appear messy to outsiders. Albums like Fearless (Taylor’s Version ) and Speak Now were albums created during a time in Taylor’s life where she was experiencing lots of heartache and a range of emotions as she transformed from being a young, “naive” girl into a woman who grows to be wise (hence Red). Those albums are very relatable to younger audiences and are appreciated because of the relatability no matter what age. In summary, it’s best to get the entire picture before anyone orders for Taylor’s music to be burned 😂
the people in your comments are probably not a very trustworthy sample because the ones who felt inclined to comment more are probably the ones who were enraged/upset with those albums being ranked last. I mean, yes, reputation is one of the albums with the highest number of stans, but everybody else (us, the sensible ones lol) agrees that it is not her greatest effort. Red is probably the most overall acclaimed, both in the fandom and by critics. Following Red would probably be folklore and 1989 (my personal favorites). Speak Now is actually an amazing album, but very underrated in the fandom as well. But it has it’s stans. Anyway, just to let you know, no points being made here. ((Except that folklore, 1989 and Red are Taylor Swift’s Magnum Opuses
Update us when you become a Swifties XD! Joking. What i think you are is a “Casual Swiftie” basically a down to earth non psycotic fan that digs her music.
oh and forgot i'd be posting this on wednesday so HAPPY THANKSGIVING LOSERS!!!!
Happy thanks giving haha
Happy thanksgiving lmao

I just had to say this 😭
@ Jason this is the one 😭🤌🏾
READING THIS MADE ME SO HAPPY
wowww. i actually read the entire thing lol and super insightful! the fact u could track her growth in each album is insaneeee! totally makes sense too!
I don’t think she cheated on her boyfriend in Rep. She is talking about it in Gorgeous and says I’ll stumble on home to my cats, alone, unless you wanna come along…
But then she does a little frustrated noise like ah I know this is wrong I’m not gonna.
Again, the connection that she makes and has with her fans is just unbelievable.
great insight!!! i should try to pay more attention to those for sure
My favorite lyric has to be the red and daylight parallel:
“Loving him was was red, burning red.”
“I once believed love would be burning red, but it’s golden like daylight.”
I know some people have said it’s a little too on the nose, but if you think about it, it’s really not.
Lol
great picks!! ur probably right i just need time lol
She uses blue and gold for him, all throughout every album he’s on
Omg, I loved that parallel too, especially because I listened to each album when I was living the situations she describes in both of them and those lines just feel so real.
Realizing that when you first experience love and heartbreak everything feels so intense, as if it's burning red. And then finding true love, where you feel warms and protected by a golden glow, it doesn't feel like burning anymore, it feels like home.
I just love Daylight so much ❤
New romantics is a total bop, but Daylight is my favorite last track
I've noticed the first mistake folks often make when diving into Taylor's discography is they miss the trees for the forest-sometimes the tabloid context can actually hurt their ability to build an unvarnished impression. They get caught up in the "mood" or the "dramatic backstory" or w.e. So they miss the details. But the details with Taylor are everything.
that's a great point!
Agree
Just give him time to really connect with the music, then I know he will be a swiftie for life. It always happens. Without realizing it little by little you are crying in your room with her music and you think, Wow Taylor writes everything I feel
lmaooooo the time will come
not to people with taste I can assure you
@@M95-t7c bruh let people have their things
@@M95-t7c Hey man, don't be a dick. Different people like different music. Intrinsic fact of life
Thank you for giving her another listen, Taylor is the best rabbit hole you can fall down to. Next when you check out her tours, just be reminded that she is not a big vocalist and she knows it, but Taylor is a goddess of a performer and she'll slay the stage down to the earth's core
haha wow can't wait to watch it
Loved these two videos!! 😍
yeah she's clearly a great writer
Nothing wrong with Pop hits
The Taylor swift universe would be insane for you to dive in. The Easter eggs, the alleged secret album that never was released.
As a starter it's good to see the rollout that she did for midnight's because everything is linked together. Some fans made some really good videos that describe the topic and even though midnight's was released this year, the video analyses more than that
dang a secret album??? that's wild
@@jasonpaulkim you thought you were down the rabbit hole already 😂 wait you'll see there's no real end to that
By the way you're doing an amazing job and I'm glad that your video popped up in my recommendation 🥰
@@jasonpaulkim midnights track 11.... research that...
Omg just finished the previous video! Perfect timing! Loving your content :)
hahahaha same
sammee as soon as I finished saw this one was just posted lol
haha glad u enjoyed
I absolutely loved this and the other video, there are many bars she dropped which made my jaw drop but one of the few is "Falling feels like flying till the bone crush" and "I bury hatchets but I keep maps of where I put them, Reputation precedes me" (which holy hell maybe I am clowning as we all often do in this goddamn fandom BUT Reputation precedes ME!). If you want any further suggestions about her, I'd recommend a hilarious fan's secret treasure called "Thug Story" with T-Pain which they did as a parody of "Love Story"
wow great picks!!! thanks for the rec lol
I just made caramel delites 😂
@@Jellybeansatdusk hahaha, I remember that line! They were both great in that video. She was so young but she handled it really well!
@@carolann500 I used to think the unnecessary censoring was the funniest shit I’d ever seen
The Marjorie song on evermore is about her grandmother and its one of my favourite so emotional and hit home for me ... also her grandmother was an opera singer and line where she says "I'd think you were singing to me now" they added in her grandmother vocals in the background .... I'm pretty much balling my eyes out by that part!!
haha wow that's great
Literally, I became a swiftie literally less then a week ago, and I watched ur video as I was going down the rabbit hole. Thank u for listening to my Ted Talk👍
ohhh the vinyl sounds sick i'm so excited for u.!!!
So happy that folklore got the representation it deserved! Loving the Taylor videos so much, keep posting your amazing content
glad u enjoyed them!!!
Loved this video! Two lines that stand out to me: "I've never heard silence quite this loud" and totally agree with you on " you kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath". She has so many great lyrics though! Story of Us was out at a time where I was going through a very difficult breakup so I could really identify with all the lyrics.
yeah she's a fantastic lyricist
My favourite Taylor lyric is from folklore “they told me all of cages were mental, so I got wasted like all my potential”
thas a barrrr!!
👍🏾👍🏾
I think the reason a lot of Taylor’s songs makes me cry is because she coordinated the albums with my hearts getting broken for different reasons though the years, so I remember how sad I was when she released dose songs, and how I listened non stop until I wasn’t sad anymore
totally get that! u can def see her growth when it comes to her love life throughout the albums
Love this! Don’t feel like you need to change your opinions or rankings based on what anyone else wants/thinks, they’re your own to have!!
exactly and i'll stand by them through thick and thin!!!...or until i listen to the albums again probably
What's so funny to me is that the general consensus is that Red is the quintessential Taylor Swift and her best album. By critics, fans etc. however it's one of the albums that did not win a grammy. Back then people called it too "all over the place". My opinion is that the people at the academy were scared to or too stuck up
don't even get me started on the grammys man...
dude i’m so obsessed with these videos. ive been binging your taylor videos over and over. it’s very interesting hearing your takes on this stuff.
haha thank u! so glad to hear ur enjoying them :)))
im so glad you like sparks fly so much! it's one of my top ten fav taylor songs and it deserves to be spoken about a lot :D
ITS A BANGERRRR
Hey Jason! I just wanted to pop to say that with the release of the Midnights 3am tracks, John Mayer scaled in the Hatred Hierarchy only below Kanye.
good to know! lol
I’m so excited!!!
congrats on getting tickets!!! i know a lot of people envy u lol
Love this series! Are you gonna do this with other artists cause god I would love to hear you perspective on some of them. Especially Carly Rae Jepsen, Charli XCX, and Lorde!
I think my favorite bar from her is probably the entire bridge of Champagne Problem. It such heartbreaking song despite her and her boyfriend writing it.
as well as Conan Gray and Melanie Martinez ‼️
i think i might explore other artists depending on if i feel invested enough to do them. at the end of the day, if my heart isn't really in it i think it will result in a worse video. like i was so passionate abt these taylor ones lol. but that's not to say i won't i'm just not rlly thinking abt it right now lol one series at a time :)
Love this , would love to see more Taylor content from you cuz seeing the process of you just getting more and more into her is amazing , keep it up :)
I agree.
glad u enjoyed!!! i'm def thinking abt doing another swift vid but also don't wanna force it so we will see
@@jasonpaulkim what did you get in the mail? I saw your post about receiving something? I’m assuming it’s Taylor related?
I'm living for the red album appreciation!! Red, Fearless, folklore and evermore are my favs
i agree with 50 percent of ur picks :)
It’s funny how I started like you did a few months ago. I listened to every album, loved them and slowly got in the rabbit hole.
Now I can’t really imagine my life without her music and the fandom. Soo maybe you’ll be there too soon
maybe some day :)))
something i recommend is checking out the movie/show "Journey to Fearless". It's concert footage from her first tour as well as how she got her first break-through. its really cute, and gives you a new perspective on her especially at a younger age.
thanks for the rec :) i'll check it out
My favorite Taylor lyric( which is also my ringtone) is "You call me up agian just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel In the name of being honest. I'm a crumbled up piece of paper lying here cuz I remember it all too well."
I'm not crying your crying.
i think that would just make me cry everytime i get a call...
@@jasonpaulkim technically it use to be my general ringtone now it's only if one specific person calls me.
If you wanna watch more TS music videos I recommend Wildest Dreams, Blank Space, Look what you made me do, You belong with me, Delicate
you belong w me is a CLASSIC i remember it from when it came out lmaooo but thanks for the other recs
I think that's how I became a fan and ultimately a swiftie.
yeah i can def see how her music could be so integral to your life!
This is such a good interpretation. I share a similar sentiment, as a newer fan who found evermore first and then folklore during the pandemic.
Just a note on the hierarchy Jake should be at the bottom, then Kanye, Scott and scooter and John they are equally the worst depending on time.but currently Ticketmaster is on top.
thanks for the insight! lol
I love your editing style! I'm surprised you dont have more subscribers. Keep up the great videos :)
thanks!! i'm glad u enjoyed!!
You know what? I just realized how savage young taylor was when I listen to songs like "Better than revenge" from speak now to how much she matured on the midnights album! So much growth!
lmao yeah for sure
That was a straight up dumpster fire. It was that messy....n I loved it.
check out Journey to Fearless and her rap with T-Pain from 2009 🤣
some of my favorite lyrics (yes, I'm a simp) are, well, the entirety of marjorie, the bridge of Cruel Summer, and the second verse of Cold As You
YES!!! “Like eight foot four blonde hair to the floor”
i'll def look into it thanks for the recs!!
this video is so good!!! it's so nostalgic cuz that's how most of us got so into taylor swift
folklore long pond studio is very good (if you have disney+) she talks all about the production of the album and discusses a lot with her producers as well~
and easter egg analysis videos on youtube's is probably the next step down the rabbit hole but it does get everyone overanalysing everything
haha thanks for the recs! so glad u enjoyed!!!
You did your homework! A++ Of course you're going to do another TS video! She is an evergreen topic.
maybe...i don't wanna force it tho lol if i can think of a good way to do it i def will
She is indeed a rabbit hole .... I love this update from the last video! 😂😍
And yes Sparks Fly is a bop and a half, i cannot wait to hear Taylor's Version of that song 💜
The dedication in this video, Like- wow. Incredible. Good job on your research and ability to invest in her and the Swifties in the comments 💜💜💜
Midnight Rain + Maroon + Would've Could've Should've are my top 3 from Midnights bc wow
And one of my fav lyrics from that album is "and i wake with your memory over me, that's a big f*cking legacy to leave"
great song picks!!! yeah man sparks fly hits diff! i'm glad u enjoyed the video!!
Individual tastes are OK.
completely agree. i went in with no expectations and i loved it!!
Your editing is *chefs kiss

one of my favorite taylor swift lyrics of all time has to be the tolerate it bridge. Like, boy, I have NO IDEA of what "gain the weight of you then lose it" means BUT IT HURTS
that's a bar tbh lol

THAT line in would’ve could’ve should’ve had jumped to the absolute top for me…
The bridge of Illicit Affairs slaps soooooo damn hard.
You come away with a great little story of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you.
The outro to Other Side of the Door 😅
Literally every single line in peace bc it’s my favorite
great picks!!!
i feel like so many people focus on the genius of Red that 1989'S lyrical potential is overlooked. But that doesn't mean she isn't fun!
haha wow well put
I really love how this channel is getting more attention after the Taylor Swift video last week. Checked out more of your videos and honestly you deserve so many more subs and views.❤️
appreciate it!!! ur too kind!
my favorite album is red. favorite song is i almost do. favorite lyric is either “you’re still all over me like a wine stained dress i can’t wear anymore” or “i made you my temple, my mural, my sky. now i’m begging for footnotes in the story of your life.”
damn solid picks!!!
When I watched the last video, you were at like 605 subscribers, now you're at 1.37k. Glad to see it. I think John Mayer moved up the list of the swiftie most hated list since Should've, Would've, Could've.
yeah for sure lol
My favorite verse/lyrics:
I want auroras and sad prose
I want to watch wisteria grow right over my bare feet
'Cause I haven't moved in years
And I want you right here
A red rose grew up out of ice frozen ground
With no one around to tweet it
While I bathe in cliffside pools
With my calamitous love and insurmountable grief
great choice!!!
My favorite fun fact - Taylor has a banner up in Staples Center that Kobe himself presented to her during the 1989 tour for most sold out shows there, so she officially has more banners up than the Clippers lol
wowwwww kobe the goat!! that's awesome
I loved this so much! your vocab from the last video to this is probably from listening to her, the words she puts in her music are so BIG.
lmaooooo i guess that would make sense...glad u enjoyed!!

def will check it out!! i'm telling u i'm dropping references left and right (def intentional)
So thorough and well-made-organization was great and ur a swifty now
thank u!!! and dang...i've succumb to the dark side lol
I have a few lyrics I am obsessed with:
Cruel Summer: "And I scream for whatever its worth, I love you ain't that the worst thing you ever heard? (He looks up grinning like a devil)" That whole thing is so descriptive and you can just imagine Joe looking up at her with a wide smirk after she just told him she loves him
Would've Could've Should've: "Give me back my girlhood it was mine first" It's litterally so heartbreaking how she feels John Mayor took away her childhood 💔
The entire chorus of Maroon tbh
Anti Hero: "I should not be left to my own devices, they come with prices, and vices, I end up in crisis (tale as old as time)" it's so relatable and I love the way she says it
My Tears Ricochet: "And if I'm dead to you why are you at the wake? Cursing my name, wishing I stayed" it perfectly captures the feeling of not being appreciated until you're out of their lives
The entire chorus of Haunted also 😂
And the last one I am going to list is, Tolerate It: "What if I break free and leave us in ruins? Took this dagger in me and removed it? Gained the wait of you then loose it? Believe me I could do it." It shows how at any moment she could leave and that she dosent need to force herself to live with this pain (the dagger) but at the end of the song she repeats the first line of the song showing how she stays anyway which only makes this bridge more impact full
great picks!!!!
Like, the whole world may hate you but that doesn't matter anymore because you finally found that one person who'll stay with you no matter what, and that's enough.
great insight!!!
i love how you appreciate her craft but remain transparent at the same time, i can see how deep you are falling into taylors swifts rabbit hole cus once u fall, its hard to leave it 💕
there's no going back lmao

"My love was as cruel as the cities I lived in. Everyone looked worse in the light."
"They told me all of my cages were mental. So I got wasted like all my potential."
"You're not my homeland anymore
So what am I defending now?
You were my town
Now I'm in exile, seein' you out."
"Rain came pouring down
When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe."

I have a feeling that when you start finding out all the easter eggs in her songs and videos, you will need to make a video just to talk about it cause it's genius. And we will be here for sure. Great video btw
well if i do, i'll def make another video about it :)

No one cares but I love the Great War so much. It's the song I got attached the most to in Midnights. And ofcourse there's also midnight rain BECAUSE U ALREADY KNOW WHY.
midnight rain is a slappppperrrrr
lol here's the correct list of those hated by swifties, from most to least:
1) john mayer
2) scooter braun
3) kanye west
4) jake
ticketmaster's like above them all
haha yeah their on a different level
I’m writing a song can I use the “stoke todays fires with yesterdays newspaper
as long as i get a songwriting credit lmao
Best believe it
My fav lyrics by Taylor of all time are from this part in Ivy:
I wish to know
The fatal flaw that makes you long to be
Magnificently cursed
It´s completly fine if you don´t like the twins as much as the other albums!
I remeber standing in the stadium and while I´ve been to a lot of concerts, the fact that I´ve felt the same kind of intimacy there as at a Florence concerts still blows my mind.
hey to each their own lol
You’d like her ‘making of a song’ series
*one of* my fave lyrics:
if the shoe fits, walk in it
till your high heels break
yeah i saw a few they were very cool and great pick!
I love watching people discovering my faves ♡
she so good!
I dont know what makes one a "swiftie" butbhaving grown up through all the 'eras' just a few years younger than her, every boy ive evey liked has his own dedicated taylor song. Listening to her music is like listening to my past. ❤
haha wow maybe i'll have tht connection with her music someday 🤧
TRY TO WATCH HER CONCERTS "REPUTATION STADIUM TOUR", "1989 World Tour" & "SPEAK NOW WORLD TOUR" these live eprformances of her made me become Swiftie
thanks for the suggestion!!
my favorite lyrics from taylor swift is literally the entire of Beautiful Ghosts, which is a song she wrote for the Cats movie soundtrack, the storyline she said that inspired her makes it so much more meaningful than it already is just from the lyrics alone! you should really look it up and listen to it in the middle of the night while looking at the sky
dang alright i'll def check it out i didn't even know she had a song in cats lmao
My fav lyric / bar (lol) is 'hell was the journey but it brought me heaven'

@@jasonpaulkim invisible string off folklore!

I would be interested in your opinion on the reputation stadium tour.
still have yet to see it lol maybe i'll make a vid on it at some point
Also watch I knew you were trouble but when she sings it on 1989 tour it is so goooddd
will do! thanks for the rec
Omggggggg my favorite Taylor “bar” is
And you call me up again just to break me like a promise
So causally cruel in the name of being honest
Or
And I was never good at telling jokes, but the punchline goes
I’ll get older but your lovers stay my age
-All Too Well 10 minute version(tv)
Like those lines just hit so hard
i couldn't agree more
Honestly, one of the main reasons why Taylor is so popular is because of her originality and ability to spontaneously try new sounds in her ‘eras’ especially when moving through genres.
In summary, it’s best to get the entire picture before anyone orders for Taylor’s music to be burned 😂
i think this is a great way of looking at it all
the people in your comments are probably not a very trustworthy sample because the ones who felt inclined to comment more are probably the ones who were enraged/upset with those albums being ranked last.
((Except that folklore, 1989 and Red are Taylor Swift’s Magnum Opuses
bold statements lmao
Update us when you become a Swifties XD! Joking. What i think you are is a “Casual Swiftie” basically a down to earth non psycotic fan that digs her music.
that's a great way of putting it lol
