Pretty much the entire fandom wishes Taylor had done a long pond session for Evermore. If you get to go to the concert, some of your wishes will come true in terms of hearing songs live!
Cowboy like me is so SO SO underrated, i always skipped this song but when you get to know the story...OH MY. It is basically about two con artists/swindlers/ gold diggers that fall in love with each other and leave behind their practices to be together. It's so romantic, if not but a bit angsty as well. Like these are bad people but their story is soooo beautiful. I also think it has one of the best lyrics like "forever is the sweetest con" which means that even though forever isn't true (like till death do us apart) it is still sweet to believe in a lie iykwim. EVERMORE is Taylor's most poetic and deep album. Love your videos!!
@@jasonpaulkim Yet it's also somewhat hopeful, at least by the end. There's hope in "evermore" and "it's time to go" that there will be something better after the end. That's why I associate folklore with summer and autumn but evermore with winter and spring.
She has already sung Marjorie live! You can hear her grandmas vocals echoing throughout the stadium where she's performing. Evermore is my favorite, 100% a lyrical masterpieceeeeee
I really think Happiness is the most underrated song on Evermore. It's super sad and a lot of it comes from a place of bitterness, but it's also full of hope and deep reflection. One of the most realistic break-up songs ever made. Actually, it feels weird to call it just a breakup song, because it SCREAMS divorce. As a child of divorce, that might be why it resonates with me so much. I just think it's such a beautiful thing to say that 'I know I'm bitter and everything seems like a waste right now, but I also know it will all be better after letting go of my resentment and the past'
A lot of evermore is inspired by classic novels/writers! Taylor did A LOT of reading in quarantine (although she is just an avid reader in general) “Tolerate It” is inspired by the book “Rebecca”, “Right Where You Left Me” has a lot of similarities to a character from the book “Great Expectations” by Charles Dickens, and (this is the coolest imo): “Ivy” is inspired by Emily Dickinson and her historically-speculated romance with her friend Susan Gilbert. Taylor’s friend Hailee Steinfeld stars in a TV Show about Emily (it’s just called “Dickinson” 😂) and the love story between the two is a big focus of the show. “Ivy” even plays in the credits after an intimate scene. All of this made me love the song even more! It being about not only an affair, but one between two women in the 1800s, just gave it so many more layers!
I think that’s part of the reason I prefer it to folklore at well. Where songs on folklore feel like spoken stories or memories, evermore songs feel like complete novels. There’s so much world building in them that makes it so much more real. And I also love ivy for that precise reason.
evermore is extremely underappreciated and underrated. this album features her career best songwriting and allows us to appreciate her growth as an artist and as a person. it's very intricate and beautiful and daring. you do have to pay attention to actually understand and give it the praise that it deserves.
I personally am inclined more towards 'evermore' just because I remember falling in love with it instantly whereas with 'folklore' I had more than five attempts to just listen through it completely. But honestly, both these albums are too good… it’s illegal to put oneself in the position to choose between them!
same! i listened to folklore nonstop before she released evermore and i think i'd gotten more used to this type of songs (that were not on my radar before folklore). by the time evermore came out i was thirsty for some new songs like these
I think one of the things I've come to realize the longer these two 2020 albums sit with me is that her announcement for Evermore... made sense. Folklore set out with a specific sound and a design to tell stories. It's the visual of sharing those stories fireside at the edge of the forest. With Evermore, she talks about travelling further into the forest and wandering deeper into it. And that's... what we got out of it, both sonically and thematically. It's hard to find something to tie Evermore together because that's not... quite how it was made. It's a "lost in the woods" album, not an "out of the woods" album. And I think setting the expectation there, rather than expecting it to be what Folklore is, has helped me appreciate it a bit more? If I feel like meandering and getting a little lost, it works. I never know quite where I'm going, but my god, is what's in front of me a sight to behold.
Evermore is my favorite, and I feel like a lot of Swifties feel the same way. Even though Taylor is a mainstream artist, Evermore feels like a "only-swifies-know-the-lyrics" type of vibe. You feel as if only you know that song. I don't know how to explain it, but that's what it feels like. It feels like a secret that a couple of millions of people keep for themselves each and everytime a Evermore track plays.
evermore might honestly be my favorite ts album or really close. i think, on a techincal level, her pen game has never been better, but i kind of see a connecting message between these songs as well, an invisible string if you will, that may be a little less apparent than with folklore. also, i just feel personally connected to it, so that might be a big part of it. there's an interview with zane lowe in which she talks about evermore a lot so that might help you get a better perspective from what place she was writing it
im a rly late hardcore swiftie (autumn 2022) and evermore is my all time favourite of hers its just got her best lyrics in her whole discography- 'now my eyes leak acid rain on a pillow where you used to lay your head' 'now you hang from my lips like the gardens of babylon' 'do you miss the rogue who coaxed you into paradise and left you there' its just AHH so good
Loved the beginning with you out there trying to get the entire vibes, your humor and charisma are unmatched honestly. Unlike folklore, evermore got me since day one and a lot of the songs got stuck in my mind for several weeks. I love the winter/late autumn feeling that's all over the album, the lyrics and production were made more confidently like you said and overall the fact that is a collection of different stories is probably the best thing about it for me. I definitely agree that if it had come out before folklore it would be more popular nowadays. I could talk for hours about evermore, but my top 5 songs are willow, cowboy like me, coney island, long story short and ivy. Nice job man.
evermore is definitely one of my all time favorite albums...my three top tracks are (this was so hard): 1. champagne problems 2. happiness 3. tis the damn season I feel like evermore is like the sadder oldest sister and that's what makes it different from folklore. it's so lyrical and I love it
I love these videos so much, (I’m also commenting so you can see the tour) because as a swiftie I like to see an unbiased reaction to what Taylor really is. I love her so I’m always gonna love her stuff, but watching these spins my perspective and is really cool!
Wow how did you cough this video up so fast? You are feeding us! 👏 It's nice that you went out to get more evermore vibes during your listen, but I guess it just really hits harder when it's fall/winter. I am also still in the process of doing a deep dive for evermore. In the meantime, Red TV and folklore supremacy 👑
seeing you dive deeper into evermore made me appreciate it even more, and it's alr my favorite album by her. my top 3 have to be gold rush, tis the goshdarndiggitydang season, and evermore.
evermore is truly the best album of her career like Im loving your breakdown to every album let everytime I see a new vieo i checked lol but Im truly excited for speak now it my favorite love the videos !
The way I think about folklore and evermore is like if I wanna listen to a full album, I’ll chose folklore, but if I wanna listen to my favorite songs from the two albums there will be more evermore then folklore songs. Btw great video again! My theory with dorothea is that it’s about selena gomez, as ‘the tiny screen is the only place I see you now’ could refer to Taylor either facetiming her/ seeing her act on tv. Also ‘selling makeup and magazines’ is kinda what selena gomez has been doing the past few years with rare beauty. I like your theory to tho!
yea i guess that does make sense but feels like a bit of a reach lol like they didn't grow up together and tht song is written from the guys perspective so idk
I'm gonna like every Taylor swift video that u have made and watch each video atleast 2 or 3 times cuz I know how it feels like to not got to the eras tour :')
I just started getting into Taylor recently and now I’m watching all ur videos and I love them! And right where you left me is my favorite. Idk why but it’s just a banger.
obsessed with this series keep it uppp 😩 evermore is so good but i prefer the soft dreamy vibes on folklore, i'm a sucker for that jack antonoff production
Love this series, and you make great fuckin content man, as a fellow broke college student who has thought about getting into content creation (specifically on music) your definitely a pretty big inspiration, keep up the great stuff 😤
my top 3 in evermore is marjorie, dorothea and no body no crime. it's just an amazing album in lyrics, production.. everything in it is good and shows how taylor is a versatile artist in general. in the albums rank, i think it's in third place for me, behind midnights and folklore
Something to me that never made sense in Evermore reviews is how people say it didn’t need to exist and it was just “Folklore’s leftovers” but I see it as so much more. Folklore while a great album doesn’t feel complete without Evermore. I personally couldn’t imagine getting Midnights after Folklore but Evermore ties everything together. Like folklore doesn’t really have an ending it’s just sadness and originally left off at “Hoax” and does if you exclude the bonus track “The Lakes.” It’s very different from every other album that has a song that synopsizes the journey she was on in her life. The biggest example for me is Red ending in Begin Again on the standard non Taylor’s Version as she’s finally moving away from a toxic relationship and realizing there is better out there and she hasn’t met the end. 1989 closes with Clean a song about moving on while on an album about moving on. Hoax doesn’t really do that so the album feels incomplete. Evermore does that for Folklore even in the cover as it has her looking back at the woods showing she’s finally “Out of The Woods” and while Evermore isn’t NOT a sad album (cause it is) there is hope and an understanding that life isn’t always going to be happy and you lose people you once loved but it doesn’t mean you won’t find it again and that there was no happiness to begin with. I mean I personally find the contrast between “My Tears Ricochet” and “Happiness” that shows the emotionally growth and maturity that only comes with age and introspection. Damn sorry for the long ass rave… I really enjoyed the video. I genuinely get so excited when you post a new video they’re so fun to watch.
in the fandom, everyone speculates that dorothea is about selena gomez. taylors long time bestie. and basically the song is describing their relationship, like when she mentions makeup and magazines it could refer to selenas vogue shoots and her make up line rare beauty.
This is my favorite album by Taylor, It’s very depressing and heart wrenching which I love so much, Marjorie always manages to make my eyes leak acid rain on my pillow (iykyk) and Ivy definitely slaps, Aaron Dessner was not fooling around with this album.
i’m watching this when i just got back from the eras tour and it was INCREDIBLE like i really hope u get to go because it was SO WORTH IT AND IT IS SOMETHING THAT EVERY TAYLOR SWIFT FAN NEEDS TO EXPERIENCE
After thinking about it, you should listen to the album “egg in the backseat” by Em Beihold, It’s only 19 minutes long and 7 songs though, it’s still really good though, you could probably make a short about it and get more traction through shorts since those are doing so well
i think so many people think of evermore as the songs that didn't make it into folklore, but i love it and think evermore is just as good as folklore. taylor said in an interview that she thought of folklore as a summer/spring album, whereas evermore is a more wintery/fallish. i think it has just as much of a concept as folklore (because i don't think of folklore as being fully about the love triangle)
i like to think of folklore and evermore connected but vastly thematically different in the sense that folklore is about falling apart and evermore is about healing. there's sad songs on evermore, this is true, but they have an air of better things to come in them. personally I'm an evermore girlie ;)
Loving this series! I see Taylor live on 5/5 and this series is a nice review of her eras. Evermore hasn’t really ever been a favorite of mine I’m more a folklore person but it has some amazing songs and a couple eh songs and closure. Although when she surprised dropped evermore I was so shocked.
Taylor said in one of the interviews that she associates folklore with spring and summer, while evermore with fall and winter. Also, I like to think that folklore tracks deal with struggles and trying to work things out, in different complexities and areas of relationships - good or bad. Almost like an evaluation. Whereas, evermore deals with ending of those relationships, because things didn't work out between two people despite trying hard, with either a sad or a happy ending. Almost like a closure or a conclusion. My personal favourites from evermore: happiness, coney island, cowboy like me, 'tis the damn season, long story short. PS: Although both albums are masterpieces - individually and collectively, I would still, slightly, prefer folklore's sister - evermore - over her.
My friend and I used to be stans of folklore before i dive down to evermore. Shockingly, I love it more. I just used to think maybe it's because it's my vibe? Then I found that Taylor said Folklore is the Summer and Spring while evermore is Autumn and Winter. That alone sums up our personalities. He was bubbly and outgoing while I was laid back and reserved.
Truly and honestly, it depends on what mood I’m in! Sometimes I prefer to be in my feels and just really focus and listen to folklore, then other times I feel like belting out to no body, no crime or ‘tis the damn season, and just live in those sort of up-beat folky songs
ALSO aaron dessners band big red machine made a song with taylor in 2021 called renegade but its basically taylors song as shes the only one singing on it. Id really recommend checking it out its just like another folklore evermore song
Not sure if others have mentioned this already but the closest we got to a Long Pond for Evermore was her Apple Music interview with Zane I would really recommend checking it out!
Evermore is probably in my top 3 Taylor albums. I connect way more with the sound of it than folklore, and I feel like she feels more authentic because evermore is very mature and feels like each song is written by a woman, not a girl.
Great video 😊when you read her lyrics instead of singing/hearing her sing them, they magically have a deeper meaning and you start to appreciate them more. You have to dissect some of the words. Her diction is always intentional. For example in "right where you left me"; right-left. but it's not in the right order. She could have said you left me right there but right is on the left and elft is on the right of that sentence. The dust collecting on her hair can be literal dust because she's been waiting at the restaurant for so long, but also a metaphor for saying that in her head she is still at the restaurant but in reality she aged and her hair got white. Right after this song you have it's time to go (from right where she was left). I think that you have to listen to Taylor's song but you also have to read the lyrics as if they were a poem to better understand their true/other meaning. English Teacher KP does this the best. You should check her videos 😊
It’s one of my favorite albums of hers, with my favorite songs being no body no crime, long story short, it’s time to go and gold rush. Just a small “fun-fact”/speculation amongst fans: some believe that nbnc is about the best friend of the (now dead) former lover of Dorothea’s high school charm
Yay evermore! For me folklore was easy to fall in love with, an instant top album but when evermore came out I was still on a folklore high and couldn’t connect with evermore. That being said, evermore is now my favorite album because depression is a thing and therapy is expensive 🙃
Evermore is definitely in my top three if not my favourite album of hers. I think folklore is the better album but evermore has better songs. I am obsessed with tis the damn season, might be my favourite song of hers, so really happy you focused on and enjoyed that one
Great review! Tbh I do prefer folklore over evermore as well, but evermore has some of my all time fav Taylor songs such as tolerate it, champagne problems, ivy, cowboy like me, etc. Also evermore has always felt like a fall/winter album to me so maybe you might like it more during that time lol.

Damn sorry for the long ass rave… I really enjoyed the video. I genuinely get so excited when you post a new video they’re so fun to watch.
no body, no crime is BEAUTIFUL.
it slaps
in the fandom, everyone speculates that dorothea is about selena gomez. taylors long time bestie. and basically the song is describing their relationship, like when she mentions makeup and magazines it could refer to selenas vogue shoots and her make up line rare beauty.
This is my favorite album by Taylor, It’s very depressing and heart wrenching which I love so much, Marjorie always manages to make my eyes leak acid rain on my pillow (iykyk) and Ivy definitely slaps, Aaron Dessner was not fooling around with this album.
lmaooo
i’m watching this when i just got back from the eras tour and it was INCREDIBLE like i really hope u get to go because it was SO WORTH IT AND IT IS SOMETHING THAT EVERY TAYLOR SWIFT FAN NEEDS TO EXPERIENCE
damn luckkkyy lol
liking the vid to contribute to you experiencing live
Somehow those videos found their way into my recommendation page and then a way to my heart ❤️
haha im glad u like them :)
i love the outros at the end with him singing
thanks man
a lot of these songs grow on you overtime, like random melodies get so stuck in your head and you have to go back and listen again
tru I'm sure if i kept listening to the album more i'd enjoy more of the songs
I can’t wait for the speak now video
me toooo
After thinking about it, you should listen to the album “egg in the backseat” by Em Beihold, It’s only 19 minutes long and 7 songs though, it’s still really good though, you could probably make a short about it and get more traction through shorts since those are doing so well
i'll have to check it out :)
catching up with your new videos instead of studying (i have an exam tomorrow)
lmaoo nooo i can't have my vids be a bad influence
i really hope you get to see taylor live
Thank u
Haven't listened to evermore as much. Your verdict influenced me to listen to some of her songs from this albums.
-A baby swifitie
i think so many people think of evermore as the songs that didn't make it into folklore, but i love it and think evermore is just as good as folklore. taylor said in an interview that she thought of folklore as a summer/spring album, whereas evermore is a more wintery/fallish. i think it has just as much of a concept as folklore (because i don't think of folklore as being fully about the love triangle)
makes sense :)
love dorothea cuz i relateeee !! again u always have the best takes. keep it up !!!!!👍👍
word lmao and thank u
Last Friday??? You made a vid 2 days ago!!!!!! I respect ur grind bro. ❤😊
literally finished editing right at the buzzer lol
she plays marjorie on the eras tour!
now I HAVE to go
i like to think of folklore and evermore connected but vastly thematically different in the sense that folklore is about falling apart and evermore is about healing. there's sad songs on evermore, this is true, but they have an air of better things to come in them. personally I'm an evermore girlie ;)
great point :)
it started with "what is majoorie" to marjorie being number one ily
ily too :)
I really want you to get tickets to the eras tour... I hope you get tickets
thank u!!!!
SO GOOD MAN
Loving this series! I see Taylor live on 5/5 and this series is a nice review of her eras. Evermore hasn’t really ever been a favorite of mine I’m more a folklore person but it has some amazing songs and a couple eh songs and closure. Although when she surprised dropped evermore I was so shocked.
You and my best friend are seeing the same show
@@Havingfun268 omg slayyyy
yea two albums in one year is kinda crazy
Taylor said in one of the interviews that she associates folklore with spring and summer, while evermore with fall and winter.
Also, I like to think that folklore tracks deal with struggles and trying to work things out, in different complexities and areas of relationships - good or bad. Almost like an evaluation.
Whereas, evermore deals with ending of those relationships, because things didn't work out between two people despite trying hard, with either a sad or a happy ending. Almost like a closure or a conclusion.
My personal favourites from evermore: happiness, coney island, cowboy like me, 'tis the damn season, long story short.
PS: Although both albums are masterpieces - individually and collectively, I would still, slightly, prefer folklore's sister - evermore - over her.
ahh i see
Come on let’s get him to the eras tour!
woooooo thank u
I love these videos!! Evermore and folklore are clearly my 2 favs
they're so gooooood
give cowboy like me another chance!! i hated it on first listen but it grew on me and now its my fav on the album.
alright i guess i can
I really find myself more drawn towards the stories in Evermore. Right Where You Left Me and Champagne Problems…. OHHH MYYY! They def made me tear up
they slap 😪
I’m here to help you go to the concert king 💓💓
thank u :)
you should do a video reacting to her different tours!!!
YOU LEFTTTTTTTT MEEEEEEEEEEEEE YOU LEFT NO CHOICE BUT TO STAY HERE FOREEVERR
best song ever
it's good
Justice for right where you left me and ivy. By far the best Songs on evermore
Preach!!
to each their own :)
He was bubbly and outgoing while I was laid back and reserved.
yeah man tht make sense
Truly and honestly, it depends on what mood I’m in! Sometimes I prefer to be in my feels and just really focus and listen to folklore, then other times I feel like belting out to no body, no crime or ‘tis the damn season, and just live in those sort of up-beat folky songs
i get tht
its a pretty unanimous sentiment in the fandom that folklore is a better album, while evermore has better individual songs!
makes sense
ALSO aaron dessners band big red machine made a song with taylor in 2021 called renegade but its basically taylors song as shes the only one singing on it. Id really recommend checking it out its just like another folklore evermore song
oh word i'll check it out
The end got me dying💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Also I would die if you did red next week
I HOPE YOU GO TO THE ERAS TOUR !!!!
THANK U :)
Not sure if others have mentioned this already but the closest we got to a Long Pond for Evermore was her Apple Music interview with Zane I would really recommend checking it out!
yea i def will
Are you gonna do an episode on debut/taylor swift???
not a priority at the moment but i might
You should watch her Interview with Apple Music she said evermore theme is dealing with closure different types of closure
thanks for the rec :)
OMG SO SOON??
i had to
Evermore is probably in my top 3 Taylor albums. I connect way more with the sound of it than folklore, and I feel like she feels more authentic because evermore is very mature and feels like each song is written by a woman, not a girl.
yea i honeslty agree w tht
Good luck getting tickets!
thank u!
You should check her videos 😊
thank u! glad u enjoyed
will u revisit debut??
honestly at the bottom of my priorities but if we will see
It’s one of my favorite albums of hers, with my favorite songs being no body no crime, long story short, it’s time to go and gold rush.
Just a small “fun-fact”/speculation amongst fans: some believe that nbnc is about the best friend of the (now dead) former lover of Dorothea’s high school charm
wow thts a crazy connection lmao
we have same top 5!!!!!!! omg not same ranking but
i agree with majoorie but my 2nd is cp i want to see her live too(crying as an international fan)
lol hopefully u can soon!!
Yay evermore! For me folklore was easy to fall in love with, an instant top album but when evermore came out I was still on a folklore high and couldn’t connect with evermore. That being said, evermore is now my favorite album because depression is a thing and therapy is expensive 🙃
i see i see
Evermore is definitely in my top three if not my favourite album of hers. I think folklore is the better album but evermore has better songs. I am obsessed with tis the damn season, might be my favourite song of hers, so really happy you focused on and enjoyed that one
I feel like Evermore is so underrated I love it !
it's a solid album man
I think the link that ties evermore is this feeling of closure
makes sense
Great review! Tbh I do prefer folklore over evermore as well, but evermore has some of my all time fav Taylor songs such as tolerate it, champagne problems, ivy, cowboy like me, etc. Also evermore has always felt like a fall/winter album to me so maybe you might like it more during that time lol.
6:25 Well well well. Wish granted.
