    Glad you have had good experiences with those splice connectors, I have not! They are almost outlawed with anyone I know, but the rear tail lamps have actual solder tabs at the back for adding wiring without harming the original loom. I know its solder but its handy enough, food for thought, love your content, keep it up

    So I worked on my GX470 this weekend tryng to figure out why the rear wiper washer wasn't working. It turns out that I had a Sony unit installed a few years ago for my daughter and he installed a similar if not the same camera. What i found when I traced the issue for the wiper washer was that the connection got pulled apart very likely when he installed the camera and went through the rear door wiring gromets. You can see at about 20:35 in your video, the nipple for the washer connection is not connected. You can see it right beside your finger pointing at about 10PM direction. This is the same view I had of mine when I went looking for where it connected. I pulled the grommet of wires out like you did and I noticed the nipple connection wasn't connected and I had to take the left rear quarter inside panel off similar to what you did to hide the wire and run it to the front. Then I was able to see the other end of the tubing connection for the wiper washer. It was a real pain to get the two pieces of tubing to connect back given the very limited space back there. But I was able to and now have functional rear washer again. Just a heads up if your rear washer is not working and you didn't notice or have found this yet. You'll have wiper fluid all over the rear passenger carpet and floor. Assuming you ever use the rear wiper washer. Most people use it very little if any, so might never notice it. Lastly I'll say that I suppose if you pull that bundle of wires out like you did, I don't think the tube it connects to on the other end will pull with it, so once you pull that bundle of wires a bit through the panel, it'll likely just disconnect. Be careful because then if you ever use the washer, it will send fluid down inside the passenger rear quarter. I had to dry mine out with a fan blowing on it most of the day. I suspect this happened to my installer as well and either he didn't notice it, most likely, or did and didn't take the time to fix it.
    Regarding the video for this install, great work and explanations. Keep up the good videos you do.

      Thank you for the feedback Steve! Yes, the washer fluid hose did come disconnected on me and I had to go reconnect after realizing what happened. Thankfully I caught it early and didnt have a wet carpet, but it could have been bad. Glad to hear you got things connected up and working!

    Thank you!!
    This video is going to wrap up a few different issues for me(stripped license plate fastener, rear sub speaker, backup camera fix). After that, I can FINALLY button up the trim pieces around my PX6.
    I put in the 6x9 front speakers & 6.5 in. rear door speakers this morning. Had to stop cause my son had a soccer tournament. Glad I did cause I'd hate to get it done then have to pull off the rear trim pieces that cover the sub again.
    Ordering the backup camera & extra stuff tonight!
    Thanks again for putting this video out. Much appreciated!!

      @@Awesomoto, I got the backup camera installed.
      Hooked it all up(getting the yellow RCA jack w/trigger wire through that door grommet was a PITA! LoL. Ended up using electrical tape & attached it to a straight piece of a metal hanger, then spraying it with WD-40).
      Got done & temporarily ran the wire over the seats & to the HU. Put the car in reverse and...nothing. went into the settings & made a few adjustments. Still nothing. Decided to re-check all my connections. Ended up finding that the splicer clip didn't cut fully through the coating of the wire. Just needed to go back into the settings and find the proper video resolution setting to get a picture.

      Hey HOLTSIMAGES,
      Thanks for reaching out with your question. The description of your problem indicates that your trigger wire might not be connected or the splice in it was bad. You can check the connection at the rear door and at the unit. Also, measuring with a volt meter, it should measure 12v when car is in reverse. Let me know if you have any other issues or questions. • @Awesomoto
      @Awesomoto  3 роки тому

      Hey ItchyNissan!
      Thanks for reaching out. A good way to troubleshoot this is with a multimeter set to the volts setting. Measure that you have 12v on the trigger signal and video at the head unit. If not, check those connections at the rear door where you spliced in. I’m assuming the 12v to the camera or the trigger line came undone. Let me know if you get it fixed with this approach.
