- This video will cover set-up and hooking up a GMC Yukon XL to a Grand Design Imagine 2400 bunkhouse travel trailer using the Equalizer 4-point sway control hitch.
Great Video. I recently purchased a travel trailer but at the time I had a Nissan Titan XD pickup truck. The dealer leveled everything with my control hitch for the pickup at the dealership and I brought it home. A couple of weeks ago I traded in my truck for a 2016 Yukon XL (also black). Today when I started to lower the trailer onto my Yukon for the first time I heard a noise coming from under my left rear wheel and had no idea what was happening, so I stopped and raised my trailer again and separated the trailer from the Yukon and went inside to do some research. Apparently my XL (non Denali) also has the auto leveling shocks that I never knew and have zero experience with. That's when I came across your UA-cam video. It was very informative and felt like it made specifically for me, lol. Very informative and a big help. Thank you for recording it.
Great Video !!
I wanted to see it self level
Owners manual is written for a reason. If you have to tell someone to look at it they are heading for trouble.
I'm sorry, these guys have little to no knowledge of how to properly set up the truck/hitch to the trailer! When it comes to hauling this kind of weight there's no room for error. If it were me I'd have called a hault to the set up and demanded someone that was confident with the process. Furthermore, the first guy was completely dismissive to your questions which suggests he was uncomfortable with his knowledge or lack thereof.
This trailer technician is making it up as he goes...smh
Don't trust a dude that doesn't put the wrench on the nut before starting the air drill
Good information! We had an SUV when we first started as well. Lot more info about pickups out there. I believe The Denali XL is a 2500 and the largest SUV GMC makes.
We had a chevy 1500 truck pulling our TT. Was a bit weak and caused some white knuckle driving. We also have a equalizer hitch and really love the way it works, no sway with the 1500. Those guys who installed your hitch, no idea what they were doing. Improperly installed, period. I only experienced white knuckle due to lack of power not sway or weight issues. If yours had been properly installed I dont think it would have been an issue.
Never trust a mechanic who uses a crescent wrench w/ an impact 🤦🏻♂️
Did you make sure that you didn't go over 14,000 pounds total? Did you make sure you didn't go over 780 pounds tongue weight?
