THANK YOU, simply for showing and bringing me through properly losing the air box for performance. I just moved to a small city in Colorado, and I’ve been fixing scooters , doing bore kits, but I haven’t found a proper showing of exactly how this is done.. you just helped me make more money in these crazy times!

the PCV valve is used to scavenge oil fumes, and blow-by gasses from engine combustion into the intake to be burned, as an emissions consideration...however it has a secondary, and far more practical use, which is to create negative pressure in the crankcase, because this helps prevent oil seal leaks, and oil consumption. Routing it to the gas tank will not at all help, and sadly, will likely somewhat contaminate the fuel, as when the engine is cold, condensation is a major consideration until the engine achieves operating temperature. I don't believe i'd route it to the gas tank. I would instead "T" it into the main vacuum port (after the PCV valve --which is the black plastic item in-line between the valve cover vent and the gas tank in your video). Since the connection on the gas tank is also meant to route fuel fumes to the intake, a "T" there would possibly be appropriate, although, it's better to just use a short piece of vacuum line and a fuel filter (to allow it to breathe without allowing debris in) because the fuel tank can't be counted on to be airtight, and thus vacuum tight..which would create a vacuum leak. In summary: I would route the pcv to the intake, and route the gas tank vent to a short piece of line with a fuel filter on the end, for maximum benefit.

Thanks! Any good videos or info you can share about all these lines, filters and so forth? Confusing as hell for me since I am not a mechanic. Just got a new carb, hoses, filters and manifold. The manifold I bought is like the OEM manifold and does not have a way to put a hose into it.

If you add just a fuel filter like this person says,,,, when you fill your tank to the bottom of the filler neck gas will leak out and continue to leak out until you lose enough gas that when your bike is on the side stand it won't leak anymore,,,,,,, the tank vent solinoid goes where it supposed to go, to the canister or you will suck in oil and condensation to your gas and your spark plug will let you know about it as it becomes fouled.😮

My SYM carburetor scooter over half year that engine does not working in Taiwan!
Due to my fuel tank located within under SYM scooter pedal, and I try to push scooter start motor switch and then I got some situations as below: (1) engine cylinder pressure is 126psi (2) spark plug has flash (3) fuel tank is not pushing gasoline through the fuel filter out? It seems my scooter fuel line system has block issue, could you offer some suggestions to help me fix my breakdown scooter here, thanks!

I'm not a mechanic and don't want to always be messing with carbs and their parts.....seems some guys get new carbs, get the scooter running and then something goes wrong away from home and it can be carb adjustments, jets and whatever else. And this is with brand new carbs if you go and see the comments at Amazon.

That fuel line looks a little short i would make it a bit longer so your suspension can travel and not rip it off . That black and red thing is a petcock and that hose connects to bottom of the the tank or . That hose off the manifold should be plugged off because that NCY carb has no Air cutoff valve and that is a vent on the side of the carb that should be left open , The case ventilation hose should be left open in that case and mounted high so you get some drain back ,that one way valve will work but it is so cheap i would not trust it . And running that crank case vent line back to your carb is sort of useless with a open element air cleaner it can be done but why ! Nice manifold and carb set up

You've got the shut-off valve several inches away from the gas tank outlet with only fuel hose between the valve and the tank. If the hose splits, falls off, or worse yet burns through, the entire fuel tank will empty unrestricted through the open tank outlet. This could cause an instant fire literally under your ass. The previous commenter is also right...that fuel line is way too short. Zip tie it to the frame and cross over to the carburetor at a right angle. You don't want the fuel hose to be flexing with every movement of the rear suspension.

@@JQUICK21 Leave the OEM vacuum operated petcock and gas hoses as they came from the factory! Sometimes when the carburetor bowl is empty, the starter can't spin the engine fast enough to generate enough vacuum to open the petcock. Gas never flows from the tank to the carburetor and the scooter won't start. The solution is really simple. If you apply vacuum from a pump (best) or from your mouth (if you don't have a pump) to the vacuum hose that leads from the carburetor to the petcock, you're doing what the engine would do if could spin fast enough. If you apply any vacuum source to the petcock, it will open and gas will flow and fill the carburetor bowl. The scooter should now start normally.

@@steverandall5814 Thank You Steve very much! However I just bought a petcock replacement that has an on/off switch and nothing on it for any vacuum lines. I am going straight from the tank, to the filter and to the carb. i saw this in another video. So I just need to know which vacuum lines can be done away with and which I need to have hooked up. I"m sorry for some many questions here.....

@@JQUICK21 I strongly advise NOT to use a pet cock that requires a hose between the tank and the petcock. If the hose between the tank and petcock fails, the entire contents of the tank will drain out. If your scooter is parked in the garage, the gasoline fumes could be ignited by the hot water heater or furnace.

No because the problem is, the valve cover pressure release line tends to run to the air box, which when running is sucking that pressure out every 4 rotations, causing a negative airspace within the cam valve cover, which then helps the other functions of the piston system as it surges through high and low pressures constantly. The issue with upgrading to a new air filter is that it doesn't accommodate for these lines and so you have to find a new way to make the pressure flow properly. Truth is, there is no right way to do this, as long as it runs and air flows properly. However the feel like will not run fuel through unless there is a negative pressure running through the vaccine line that activates throughout the intake cycle of the piston. It's hard to explain but basically that line is to help with negative pressure. My best bet would be to run that to it's own one way valve, and run it into exhaust to help with suction, or run it straight out into air. The one way valve should help with holding the negative pressure

If it doesn't have a vent the fuel will not come out it will eventually vacuum lock, it must have some type of vent, in a system like this I'd use a large tee with reducers to fit the lines, connect the fuel tank vent and crank case vent to the tee, then drill a hole in the end of the air cleaner, with Barb fitting then run a line from the airfilter, to a fuel filter as then to the tee with the other lines connected, it should work fine!

Besides the vacuum and fuel lines that you explained, there are two
other thicker black hoses on my Evo 150cc Taotao scooter. They start off at the
right-hand side of the scooter. One of those hoses goes to the front of the
scooter's where it is connected to the engine. The other thicker black hose is
connected to what looks like a black canister at the right-hand side of the
scooter's frame. It is located on the frame between the fuel tank and the
ignition high-performance coil box. However, at its end, this thicker black
hose (about double the size of the other vacuum lines) is not connected to
anything on my scooter and is just hanging by itself. I am suspecting that it
is the reason why the scooter is not starting. Also, on the left-hand side of
the scooter's frame, there is what looks like another black canister which has
two hose connections, one small another one bigger, but then there are no hoses
connected to it. I suspect that the lose thicker black hose that is dangling in
the middle of the scooter fell off from that. May that be the case? However, I
don't want to connect that hose to the black canister on the left side of the
scooter because I am not sure that it is supposed to be connected there. So
far, I have searched in vain and have not found a UA-cam video with an
explanation of the purpose for those thicker black hoses on the scooter. Are
they part of the scooter 's vacuum system? Please advise. I look forward to
hearing from you. Your explanation will be highly appreciated.

The ccv vents exhaust!! Godd$^&^! Youre putting exhaust gas thick with carbon, back into your fuel. Carbon robs the oil of lubricity.... so get it outta there!

The tube he's pointing to at 1:52 is split open on my bike. My bike is not starting. Is this directly related? I don't quite understand the function of this tube.
