I have a shoe box full of old demo's on cassette from my 4 track recording days. I've never encountered this phenomena with them. I'm curious if this is because they're made using different chemicals, their smaller size or if I was just lucky.

What year are the tapes from? If they weren't HQ grandmaster type of tapes I doubt you'll have issues.
