      Way too fast for my taste! lol. I really can appreciate it though, it'd wear me out doing that all day. Only time I get this fast is when the bite is on and I know I've got the right bait.

    He does everything so fluently. Lands, unhooks and releases fish all in one motion, immediately gets another cast out. Nothing but pure experience. I hope to be half as good as him when im his age.

    • @antbanks7548
      @antbanks7548 9 років тому

      TheUnluckyFisherman His efficiency is unreal. I have friends that say I fish too fast sometimes, this gives me confirmation that I could fish even faster. That crankbait is humming along when he is the one casting.
      Like most things in life, fishing is a bit to do with math. He is probably making 20-40% more casts per opponent on average. That style would tire a lot of people and that leads to a tired mind as well.

    I like MLF's format - catch - weigh - release. Each angler gets updates when others catch fish. I guess they get a 2 minute penalty if the fish touches the boat

    Hours and Hours of fishing practice. Day after day. Month after month. Year after year. One time I seen him cast a KVD Smoke S3. Never put his thumb on the spool. It wouldn't backlash. It wouldn't backlash! So every one who hates on Quantum. Check that out. KVD is a Fishing Machine. My Father during the 70's. Work all night. Get home load a station wagon up. Put the boat on the hitch drive to Lake Monroe in Indiana. Fish from Sun up to well after dark. Load up. Drive 2 hrs. Unload the boat. Get clean up. Then go to work again. After casting a Black lew's reel and rod hundreds time's. Never complained about his wrist hurting. His biggest bass over 10 pounds. But a bunch of them 7,8 and 9 pounders. Oh, A 6 pound Smallie from the Tippecanoe River also. He was the best weekend Fishing Warrior. I ever saw. How do I know. I was the 12 year old with him. I can throw A baitcaster all day and into the night. If you love something like fishing it's the fun of it. That keeps me going back again and again. R.I.P. H.E.Beck.

  • @AlexSanchez-oz2du
    @AlexSanchez-oz2du 8 років тому +2

    Targeting specific pieces of cover within a long strech of structure. The impressive thing is the focus of every cast. At list three or four casts on the same angle to the same spot moving 180 degress of target....very consistent. It is obvious that the key cover is within the first few seconds after the crankbait lands....hits or impacts the cover and he fast cranks for the next casr. KVD has certainly master the correct reel gear ratio and the speed of his right hand...the rotation speed of that handle is identical on each cast. This style of power fishing is not for everyone....knowing that he has been doing this for a long time and at that pace....it is amaizing his right shoulder hasn't go yet. Anyhow.... no doubt that was very productive 21 minutes

    He could be more efficient if he learned to use a left handed baitcaster. Like most, he casts with his right, moves it to his left, and reels with his right -- which of course is inefficient. If the armless lady I saw in a documentary can open a can of tuna with her feet, I think any of us can learn to reel a baitcaster left-handed.

    • @Goshawk2317
      @Goshawk2317 9 років тому

      Steve Owens True, you might think that, because he's not losing time in the casts during the video, he's as efficient as he can be. But efficiency is more about energy expended/movements made to accomplish the same task.

      Goshawk2317 I heard something about cranking with your right hand so that you can speed up the bait easily.

      +Goshawk2317 He has his next casting spot picked out while reeling it back to the boat. I fish crankbaits in a similar manner. I'll change speeds and direction as he is doing. For my money, nothing beats a Strike King KVD model, while using my KVD Tour Edition baitcaster. Like The King says, "It's money in the bank"

    I wonder why Kevin doesn't move on to a better spot.

    • @PaBasser
      @PaBasser 9 років тому

      +mrBDeye He sticks with a spot until he's completely covered it. He's doing a little moving while in the same area. He'll try multiple casting angles as well. There is none better with a cranking rod in his hands.

      +PaBasser Did you watch all 21 minutes of this video? In many of his seminars Kevin tells us that he has a 10 minute rule. If he does't catch fish in 10 minutes he moves on to a different spot.

      +mrBDeye Sure did. I've been to 2 of his seminars. I have both of his books, one of which he autographed and personalized for my birthday last year. I use his crankbaits almost exclusively, as well as his editions of rods and reels. I use the same rule, except I might stretch it to 15 minutes before moving on. I've heard other anglers use the same type of time frame, when fishing an area or a spot.

      PaBasser You can own all his rods, reels, lures and books but that won't help you catch fish unless you cast your line into a well stocked tournament lake. That my friend is the secret of catching big fish.

      +mrBDeye Well, I've caught big fish not in well stocked tournament lakes
