I switched from Adobe to DaVinci two weeks ago and man, it's like a breath of fresh air. The reliability and layout makes me want to edit. Never had that experience with Adobe.

Yeah I think Davinci is really useful for early editor to experience the editing process... And if we're ready,we can start editing using Adobe.. But I prefer Davinci Resolve..

I switched a few years ago from Vegas pro, I had used Adobe but soon discovered it requires a very steep learning curve if you want to be adventurous or creative, in the 2 or 3 years I've been using resolve it only crashed twice, Vegas would crash that amount in an hour, and the added bonus resolve is by far the fastest at rendering, still can't believe what it costs in terms of value for money for the studio version.....Love it...

Nah bro resolve crashes on me everytime more like premier. To me there's literally no difference both softwares crashes alot. My system spec, i7 7th gen,4 cores 8 threads. With 16gb ram and 2gb nvidia 940mx at 2.90ghz.

Billy, you are the Davinci Master. But for someone like me (NOT a genius like you), rather than just telling me to click here or there, a much more appreciated tutorial would be to tell me WHY I am clicking on any particular control. For instance, WHY do I click on the spline? What IS a spline and what does it do? Sure, you know why, but I, as the audience, do not know why. Same goes for all the other clicks.
I could certainly click on everything you did and would end up with the same result. But after I was done, I would have no idea why it worked because I don't understand how all the parts work together.
Finally, just a little enhancement of this particular video would be an animated airplane that travels on the line. That would be pretty cool. Thanks.

Though it would make the video longer, a little more explanation would be helpful. The author states it will be easy to animate, but then it takes 10 minutes of unintelligible steps to perform. Reminds me of this: ua-cam.com/video/Lzw81didQ48/v-deo.html

Thank you very much for this tutorial. It is clear and well explained. I am switching from Premiere Pro to DaVinci and man, everything is so much cleaner and to me looks even easier. I am beginning to understand how nodes work, and man, working with nodes looks way better than working with layers in After Effects. Everything is visible and easily adjustable. 3D space looks brutal. I got lost multiple times in AE but in DaVinci I have full control by watching 3D space in one screen and end result in another. Color page and Fairlight are also very, very interesting.

When I add the initial drop shadow and link it between background1 and merge1, the line animation disappears when I play it from start to finish of this clip. The animation of the ellipses and pin remains though. When I delete the drop shadow, the line reappears and the full animation works. I'm using the free version of DaVinci 18.5 on a Mac desktop. What could be the possible problem?

HI mate, I'm newb at Fusion so this video was really helpfull. I went throught this process about 20 times untill I has really happy with the end results.
A few things that stumped me along the way: When looking at the keyframes for the elipses after copy/pasting to make them activate later in the timeline. Sometimes that colour horizontal keyframe graph with the white vertical keyframe lines was there, and sometimes it wasnt, it has to be a setting I had wrong but could not figure it out. I just kept starting a new project until it worked. The other issue was adding stuff in fusion like The Drop shadow. On your video it looked like you were just placing it on a string and it auto snapped to it, whilst I could not get that to replicate. I couldnt see anything on the internet specifically about it, so I had to figure out how to do it manualy, which i have, but it would be great to see how you do it..
    Thanks again for your video.
