Awesome little build and love the OEM style race look with the rear carpet install for the Sunday lunch. A mad little car. Look forward to seeing those rims and work on the engine.
I've got a Silver GTI myself. Absolute weapon. Amazing spec - Heated Leathers, A/C, Sunroof and the 6 speed box. Congrats on 100K! I look forward to this build!
LOL @ the 'exploded' clockspring 😂 Great choice on that OMP wheel. Looks like alcantara. The smaller diameter makes it feel so much better and quicker. The wheel and a weighted short shifter makes the car more fun to drive. A clutch stop can make your shifts even faster and they cost almost nothing. I use an elevator bolt with a jamb nut the tighten it down as soon as I get it adjusted perfectly. Those Speedlines are a CLASSIC rim, definitely a nice tasteful choice, and lightweight too, which is important in my book. Less unsprung weight is a good thing. Good solution to the sliders too. I used to have a couple sets of Recaro's, I believe 3 sets of Corbeau's and a set of Sparco's. I had fixed mounts in my e36 track car that I built, but when I had the set in an mk3 VR GTI I had a set of Corbeau sliders. I can't remember where I had got them but they were impeccable quality. The fit was perfect, and they were painted with a textured 'wrinkle' style black paint. I also religiously ran nothing but Schroth harnesses, (4 or 5- point,) regardless of just having a harness bar or a cage. If you use the OEM seat belt mounting points, you will be totally safe, as they are load tested to take A LOT of force. As long as the angle is correct, and you wear the harness correctly you will be safe as ever. Best part about a proper harness/ seat with bolsters is how well they hold you in place so you can focus on driving, and not hanging on for dear life. My track car had a 6-point cage I built with diff pickup points, gusseted corners with dimple dies wherever I could put them that would make it more rigid. I had X- bars on the door jambs as well. Personally I am not a fan of NASCAR style door bars. Just figured I'd share my experience with those seat mounts/ sliders, harnesses, seating options, etc. Thank you again for sharing this build. It's off to a great start! 👍👍😁✌️
Looks good Dan,to make use of that rear seat mount that you painted black you could do another rose jointed bar from that with a clamp the other end to go to the harness bar 🤔👌🏻
Great and Well Deserved 100k subs Dan,been from start quality set up every episode, keep it going as your well supported with great set ups that are only getting better.👌
Congratulations on the channel progression dude. Was into modding cars when I was younger so started to follow your channel to remind me of the good old days 😂
Congrats on the 100K subs milestone Dan very well deserved lets hope you soon reach the 200K mark👌 great video and the little Lupo is progressing well👏🙏👍
Congratz!!! Love the channel. Love to see more. Greets from the netherlands. Maybe put the old mk1 wheels (gold bbs look) under the lupo. I did have the same setup haha.
Love it, Dan.❤ As an OG viewer, so chuffed for you reaching the 100k subscribers.👏 It was always gonna happen, with the content and the way you present it…essential Sunday viewing! Looking at what you’re doing, love the rear seat delete and the usual attention to detail. I think the way this is going, it’s gonna be a streetable track beast and I also think you’ll want it looking it’s best…it’s what you do. So just thought I’d drop another little suggestion, which you may already know. Lupo ‘Cambridge’ rear lights. Had them on both my GTi’s and they are look wicked (they are a smoked version of the standard lights). OEM+😎😎
Thank you so much for watching and supporting Alex! I really appreciate it. It looks ok in there now doesn’t it! The outside is winding me up. I can see me spraying it pretty soon 😂 thanks for the heads up, I will see if I can find a set 👊
When you change the alternator on the Lupo….undo the engine mount on the drivers side and support and lower the engine, or you will NEVER get the lower bolt out of it 😂 ask me how i know 😂 a 5 minute job took me an hour!
Congrats on the 100K subs, like how you do most of the work yourself including the respray on the MK1 GTI, The Speedline wheels will look a lot better, got Speedlines (slightly different model but same color) on my Renault 19 16v hobby car too.
Good vid pal only just stumbled across your channel because of your caddy content but it’s a really good watch what steering wheel is it you have fitted to the lupo been looking at swapping mine Keep the content coming 👍
Congrats on the 100k Dan well deserved. Watched all the videos and like the content. Started watching you with the T5 as I was looking for inspiration with my T5. Is the Lupo steering wheel and airbag for sale if so what sort of condition are they in? As I’d like to change the one on my T5. Looking forward to many more videos both here and at home with Abi. Loads of luck for the future. Here’s to the next 100k🍺🍺🍺
Thank you so much for watching and supporting the channel! It wasn't in the best condition and we ended up plying and se the airbag off 😂 sorry. We really need to film an episode on the house as so much has changed!
At a guess I think about 30kg. I am going to get it back on the weighbridge and see this week. It weighed 980kg and hasn’t used much fuel so should be quite accurate.
Yo man idk if youll see this but seems like u know what your doing my dash isnt working properly it sometimes works sometimes doesnt and glitches out and ive checked fuses they are okay any clue or ideas to fix??
I love them vw lupo’s was trying to get one for my first car but there was nothing for miles and miles from my area 🤦♂️😂 has to get a Ford Fiesta instead 💩😂
Have a Lupo GTI myself and it's very similar (even have Speedline track wheels for it😆) , would definitely recommend a spacer or quick release on the wheel to bring it a little closer for a nicer driving position, clubsport mod looks neat, definitely on my list now to do, good luck with the project and you should definitely check out Clayton Jones' GTI, nicest one in the world IMO ua-cam.com/video/fW-3MGG6jdc/v-deo.html
I did think a spacer on the wheel may make it a little better, will get in and have a measure up! The clubsport tidies the rear end up and save a bit of weight. Rear seats would not be useable with the buckets so worth doing. Clayton’s is the reason I bought one 😂
Don’t forget to give yourself a pat on the back for your 100k goal. You are the one we are watching as well as the motors.
Thank you! Still blows my mind that people actually like watching me 😂
Happy to hear your getting the attention on youtube that you deserve, and excited to see the Lupo's progression ❤
Thank you so much bud! hopefully it continues!
Lots of spannery goodness got you to where you are. Well done dude. Not bad for playing with cars as your better half says
Thank you bud! Not done too bad so far have we!

Thank you for watching bud, Sounds like a cool motor! Hopefully we will do some more to the Lupo next year.
I had one of those seat mounts on my track day Mk2, worked perfectly fine with my cheap ass bucket seat.
Sweet bud, Seems like it will do what it needs to.
Lupo means Wolf. It's the Greatest car Ever period, collector's car.❤❤❤❤
Looks good Dan,to make use of that rear seat mount that you painted black you could do another rose jointed bar from that with a clamp the other end to go to the harness bar 🤔👌🏻

😂 yeah that one came up last week. May have just removed the engine 👀😂

Thank you so much Rob.
Should make the floor slightly raised so the bulky bit will be under hidden away
I did consider this but I used 9mm ply instead so wanted it to be supported by the floor of the car. I don't think it looks too bad as is.
@@DanChambersDAC no worries looks smart either way bud, love watching your builds and progress.
Congrats on the 100K subs, like how you do most of the work yourself including the respray on the MK1 GTI, The Speedline wheels will look a lot better, got Speedlines (slightly different model but same color) on my Renault 19 16v hobby car too.
Thank you! I wanted to show that anyone can get involved and give all aspects a go! They look so much better on the car!
Can't you can fab something out of the rear seat bracket to hold a spare alloy? I know it's extra weight but may look cool.
Not a bad shout, second comment to say the same 🤔
It's looking awesome. What about the wheels?
Thank you! They are coming in a future episode! Got to keep you all coming back!
Congrats on the subs. Why didn’t you just put the rear deck on blocks to lift it over the rear seat bracket?
Cheers bud. I wanted it to be as low as possible and supported by the metalwork of the car as I ended up using very thin plywood.
Good vid pal only just stumbled across your channel because of your caddy content but it’s a really good watch what steering wheel is it you have fitted to the lupo been looking at swapping mine

Thank you for watching bud! it's an OMP 300mm one bud, I just searched that on eBay and found one. feels much better than the big original one.

Whats going on with that steering wheel, is the quality VAG in the bin?
How much weight do you reckon you lost with stripping it? Looks really good already tbf
At a guess I think about 30kg. I am going to get it back on the weighbridge and see this week. It weighed 980kg and hasn’t used much fuel so should be quite accurate.
