Great little cars, love mine! Cheap to run, fun to drive, bullet proof reliability and scope to tune them further. Harks back to the real era of hot hatches before everything got crazy power and stupid running costs and for those saying it’s too expensive, all cars have increased in price. There’s a good reason Volkswagen couldn’t keep up with demand in sales!
They're terrific cars to exploit all the performance in stock form but they're even better with a stage 1 remap ! 145bhp 230nm torque but doesn't effect drivability. What they should have left factory as.
I've got the mid spec Up!. Really nice little city car probably the best you can get especially with the equipment you can get in a small car. Big step up from my Peugeot 107. I do feel the GTI is overpriced though
Up owner here and agree fun little cars. Nice modding potential too with the amount of wheel options out there and body parts. Got a pre facelift Move up which I've now made a high up with all the extra features I've retrofitted in. Had it for 5 months now and almost the little project is finished and can drive it properly on the road
I have an UP GTI and paid 15k, this was after having 2 high spec non GTI UP’s previously. It is quite expensive for what it looks like on paper, however the car can only be understood if you drive one I think. And just for contrast I have the option to drive my BMW i8 and often prefer to jump in the UP. The only thing that lets the gti down a bit is the brakes, if you push the car hard the brakes will fade quite quickly so for me they will be getting upgraded. Other than the brakes it’s flawless!
That's the thing with these ups. Heard other people upgrade to a GTI from there lower model up. There's something about driving these cars that makes them fun. For braking why not upgrade the rear brakes to discs? Upgrade haus sells this kit.
Great fun cars but the price… you could have just as much fun in a Panda 100hp, Swift Sport or Twingo 133 for a fraction of the cost. Think of the cars you could buy for 15 grand instead of the Up!
Not underrated I really like them but I think the price puts alot of people off, can get into a good ST for that money which is another level above this, still a great car though
@@jamesr4899 Hiya, yeah had it about a year now, it's great fun. Bought it at 38k and just turned 50k last week. Got it MOTd couple weeks back and only one minor advisory. I fixed it an hour later. Really enjoying this car. You really should get one.
I love the up! and I also don't get why they are so underrated. The perfect city car for me. I trade my up! Tsi for a VW Polo and I kinda regret this decision, even if the Polo is bigger and more "polished" I'd say. This is a car that would benefit from the recent VW changes of making the aircon controller smaller...
Just sold my M4 CS and bought an Up GTi. I bought one in 2018 to see what the hype was about. In the end I got pissed off with the M4 CS as I dont have a racetrack in my garden. I dont care about a car that reflects my net worth so my cars are so random.
Can anyone tell me where the paint code is on this car , I've looked everywhere I can think of and places other people thought of all the places it says in manual ----- still cant find it??????
Had one in 2018, for over two years, really great but the ride was too harsh. Traded it in for a normal UP and didn't regret it at all. The UP was designed as a city car, a role it does nicely, but by making it a 'GTI', I believe VW when too far. I would have used the TSI 90, added some stripes and a spoiler and renamed it a GT.
Had mine for 3years this August and I love driving it everyday hard to describe unless u own and drive one it’s just bloody cute and fun and Nippy little pocket 🚀 & it’s Sexy looking esp in 3 doors. Don’t expect a smooth ride but that’s what makes it fun, it’s fun size 🚗😀
These are anything but underated, on every "top 10 hot hatches" lists. Much rather get a second hand ST or Abarth for the same money, or even get a Clio 197 for half the price
I drove one yesterday, tremendous amount of fun even managing to get pops out of the exhaust😂 my only gripe is the standard speakers are rubbish and the phone holder doesn't fit many models. Will definitely consider buying in a few months time

the up gti is no longer available, it's discounted since Dec. 31. 2022
For 15k? Not surprised they aren't looked at tbh
There's a used one at an Arnold Clark dealership a 21 plate with 10k miles for £17,998 the other cars you can buy for that money
For a new car though it's well worth the money.
Hardly expensive

Good little car. My wife has a 1.0 TSI beats edition 3 door in White and even that 89 BHP moves very well 👌
Stage 1 jbs map along with the tcs mod transforms it
Up! is a gem
Great car had mine 2 months one of the best driving cars I've had, agree with feeling like a much bigger car like being 17 again

Brilliant piece of kit 👍

Ive actually just bought a Yaris GR so sadly the Up is going, will be badly missed though @@zaink7037
Great little cars I've mine just coming a year love want to an exhaust and remap on it

What else can you buy brand new for the same money that will also hold its value?
The Twingo RS is very rare, hard to find a good one now. The UP GTI holds its value pretty well and the equipment is good.
Not underrated I really like them but I think the price puts alot of people off, can get into a good ST for that money which is another level above this, still a great car though
Replaced my Golf R with one of these, reminds me so much of my Mk1 GTI.
Owned one of the first gens and had to get rid. The ride was ridiculously firm for a daily. It also went through three steering racks from new...
great car, thank you ☺️
Perfect, will be worth fortune future
19 reg Tornado Red Up GTi coming this week. Ordered it Sunday. 39k on clock and got a good deal on it and good trade in price for my older car.
How are you enjoying the car mate, I'm looking at buying one.

What should I be looking to be paying for a 19 or 20 plate 3 door?
Its a great little car and will be a future classic. Have you tested a mk1 Fiat Panda 100hp yet?? because those are a proper blast.
You mean a Mk3 Panda? Mine has been test driven by Jamie a year or so ago 👍
I’ve just gone from a 354bhp Audi S5 to a Panda 100hp and don’t regret it one bit, one of the best/most fun cars I’ve ever owned
@Aivarus K that's a drastic change
Can anyone tell me where the paint code is on this car , I've looked everywhere I can think of and places other people thought of all the places it says in manual ----- still cant find it??????

U live by London m8? Got a mk3 st if interested

Seat use the same engine got one in a seat arona crazy how much power got for 1 litre and dsg box

I had an Abarth. They are ok but horribly flimsy. Mine was constantly needing parts
Underrated but overpriced sadly
Can have a go in mine...
I drove one yesterday, tremendous amount of fun even managing to get pops out of the exhaust😂 my only gripe is the standard speakers are rubbish and the phone holder doesn't fit many models. Will definitely consider buying in a few months time
I’ve an iPhone 14plus fits perfect and it’s a big phone the holder adjusts mate 👍
rest your fore arm on that cool metal windowsill in summer you'll soon regret the cool feature 😂
there underatted because how expensive they are you can get a golf r or a gti for the same price for what the up gti is worth
Yeah, a used one with 100k+ miles… not really the same thing is it.
Gem!
I guess that it tapped into the GTI legacy, which was ambitious.
What about the lupo GTI
They aren't underrated, they're just not the best car available for 15 grand
Electric battery cars are dangerous & sh1te they are expensive fire hazards with terrible range
Frankly because they’re massively over priced still
I think you’ll find there not underrated.
is it a hothatch?, i'd even go for a puegeot over that, sad to say it would last longer. VW are a joke for the last 20 years.
i don't no they seem comment af i see skoda and seats versions daily
The up gti and the up in general has excellent reliability and literally no major long term faults.
Ha. No one can comment first
I think its a good car, but the styling kills it for me.
The polo gti 6c is less than 15k and a way better car
The gti is supposed to be a cool looking motor with performance to match, not give the impression your borrowing nans runabout.
Trouble is it’s ugly
