On tonight’s program The stig drives starbug though deep space Lister tests the new rang of latest family spacecraft And I (cris Barry) organise my paper clips
Always was a massive Chris Barry fan, Arnold Rimmer was always my favourite character on the smash hit Britcom Red Dwarf. Despite his utter smeggyness as a character, it's the glimpses of a tragic figure who could be redeemed that made me fall in love with that persona. Just a phenominal actor and comedien, with a great amount of intelligence. I'd love to meet him. Smoke me a kipper, i'll be back for breakfast.
Hard to believe its still going after starting in 1988. But that's what winning comedies do. The Formula is great. I head Holly might be back in the next series.
From my previous experiences with GPS, I imagine it in the voice of Holly: "Make a right hand turn." *you turn right* "or was it a left hand turn? Yes, it should have been a left hand turn."
I love this show so much because its really like sitting in on a conversation, instead of the scripted, promotional chats on a chat show. Its like being one of their friends just along for the ride!
I was a huge fan of Spitting Image as a kid and Red Dwarf is my all-time favourite comedy! Chris Barrie is one of the best comedians out there, in my opinion. I always felt, personally, that Barrie brought the most to each of those shows (more than the other actors.) Much of what he does is subtle, but it's those little details in his acting that make him so interesting to watch. Just the way his eyes sharpen in tension or he frowns like a sad little boy while lowering his head, as Rimmer. Love it!
Yeah, fully agree. Just working my way through all the Red Dwarf series for the umpteenth time, and I had never noticed before just how many subtle little nuances Chris incorporates into his performance. You see the other actors occasionally dropping out of character or switching off when they're not delivering their lines, but if you keep your eyes on Chris, he just doesn't stop!
I had an audiobook of a red dwarf novel where he did ALL of the voices, was actually scary how good his impressions were, you totally forget it's just him on his own
Terranova667 Yes, and if you haven't, you should see the outtakes for Red Dwarf (particularly Series 6 I think it was). His Kenneth Williams impression is comedy gold!
Chris Barrie's insight on how English neighborhoods that were built in the 50s, the developers didn't anticipate that the roads would have to support as much traffic as they do now is in sync with what I say about LA freeways--when they were designed, was no one actually living here?! They certainly weren't built for LA traffic: the real hell on wheels.
Haha, I always wondered how Llewellyn did his lines as Kryten without cracking up at them, and now I'm even more curious cos he seems like such a giggler xD This was awesome, thanks for uploading :3 Quickest 20 minutes ever
I'm not really into most of my family, so I tend to adopt, through fantasy, substitute family members. I have just adopted Uncle Chris. Strangely enough, the most sensible of my adopted uncles.
+Stella4eva. At 4.40--Chris Barrie said 'Strangely enough' as I was reading YOUR--''Strangely enough' !! this happends to me all the bloody while, even words I hardly ever use--WTF ?
I would love to meet Chris Barrie one day, as a fellow mechanic/engineer who has spent there life repairing cars, I now spend my time restoring old machinery from my garage at home. I hate the modern car they are a mobile PC on wheels these days and have no real horse power like the older cars.
And if something is wrong with a new car, it's usually electronic which you can't even diagnose unless you have a diagnostic computer worth a king's ransom. Long gone are the days of the shade tree mechanic and that's rather sad. :(
WidowUK I am dead serious, I wasn't trying to be funny. He does not like new cars (I met him once and we discussed it). He thinks new cars are repulsive. I read he had a friend who was working on a car and he would drop by to see if the friend needed help. I honestly sincerely believe he would want to assist you with any old car you were working on.
Haha! Noo I love the Sinclair C5! I used toplay on them at a certain leisure park, when I was little. There's an enthusiasts group and they go on day trips - all zooming along in their Sinclair C5's! Awh! There's something very lovely about Kryten & Rimmer going for a gentle drive in their jumpers.
Love this episode for all the reasons above! Plus, the best review of a Hybrid car I've seen - been um-ing and ah-ing for a couple of years now, but if it's good enough for Kryten, it's good enough for me :D
I love watching this when Rob carpool's the other cast member's of Red Dwarf because you see how good friends they all are....Can't wait for the new Series LONG LIVE THE SMALL ROUGE ONE
5:22 The C5 was an idea WAY ahead of it's time. It's more of a scale model of what car companies would be doing in 2018 than an actual roadgoing vehicle.
Robert you were just near me lol i was in the flat above the tool hire shop across the road from the chip shop when i was at shepperton doing Mary Shelley's Frankenstein! lol funny to think :)
How brilliant was this!! Loved Chris Barries impressions. When Bob did the kryten voice, for a fleeting moment I thought "Wow that was really good!" before remembering.....doh! *facepalm*
Imagine if Chris Barrie took over hosting Top Gear...
On tonight’s program
The stig drives starbug though deep space
Lister tests the new rang of latest family spacecraft
And I (cris Barry) organise my paper clips
These two should have taken over Top Gear from Clarkson and the boys! It would have been epic!
Omg you know it.
Oh so true
That... might actually have worked.
Has either of them been on TG?
This comment is underrated.
Today I have become a Chris Barrie fan after watching The Brittas Empire and then checking him out on you tube
What a intelligent lovely man

"You sir, are a smeeee heeee!"
"I'm a smee heee?"
"A complete a total one sir."
Red Dwarf, best comedy in the world. FAN SMEGGIN TASTIC
Hard to believe its still going after starting in 1988. But that's what winning comedies do. The Formula is great. I head Holly might be back in the next series.
smeggin A damn right!

I just love when he says 'I do stuff and I'm just like, wait a second, that's not me. That's fucking Kryten'
Red Dwarf GPS needs to happen. Because oh my goodness, it's amazing.
From my previous experiences with GPS, I imagine it in the voice of Holly:
"Make a right hand turn."
*you turn right*
"or was it a left hand turn? Yes, it should have been a left hand turn."

Chris Barrie.... Oh there is so much love from me to you.
Rob: "So you're not really impressed by the new model (Jaguar)?"
Chris: *does classic Rimmer squint and nose flare*
I love Chris Barrie. His shows on ships and aircraft are great. And he's funny. Robert is a great host.
Robert Llewellyn and Chris Barrie both doing Kryten at the same time - brilliant!
In a manner of speaking...
What a treat! Chris's impressions were brilliant.
What comfy looking jumpers.
I just smiled all the way through this. What a lovely couple of fellas. :) Gotta love the Boys from the Dwarf. :)
I love this show so much because its really like sitting in on a conversation, instead of the scripted, promotional chats on a chat show. Its like being one of their friends just along for the ride!
I love Chris Barrie, he's great :) Met him quite recently, and he's such a nice guy. Completely and totally not a smeghead in real life :)
Sarah Quince You missed an opportunity there to say....
"What a guy...."
I loved the impressions Chris does it's made my day!
All four Dwarfers.
I was a huge fan of Spitting Image as a kid and Red Dwarf is my all-time favourite comedy! Chris Barrie is one of the best comedians out there, in my opinion. I always felt, personally, that Barrie brought the most to each of those shows (more than the other actors.) Yeah, Rimmer was always my fave. I like a man who always has a pen.
Really? Huh. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, i guess.
Barrie is absolutely brilliant!
I wish he had done Ace Rimmer as the voice of the GPS.
Oh my god, Chris is actually an amazing impressionist! Check out 15:48!
I had an audiobook of a red dwarf novel where he did ALL of the voices, was actually scary how good his impressions were, you totally forget it's just him on his own
ScottieGirl20 Chris did voices for spitting image back in the day so yeah doing impressions was his thing before Red dwarf came along.
Terranova667 Yes, and if you haven't, you should see the outtakes for Red Dwarf (particularly Series 6 I think it was). His Kenneth Williams impression is comedy gold!
His impersonations of the cast are superb.
Absolutely, he’s very funny and very talented. Remember Mr Flibble? He built a whole new character in red dwarf.
Chris Barrie is an incredible impressionist! He has the whole cast of Red Dwarf down perfectly! And I love Robert's laughing!
Chris Barrie's insight on how English neighborhoods that were built in the 50s, the developers didn't anticipate that the roads would have to support as much traffic as they do now is in sync with what I say about LA freeways--when they were designed, was no one actually living here?! Chris is a legend his Kryten is spot on!
Haha, I always wondered how Llewellyn did his lines as Kryten without cracking up at them, and now I'm even more curious cos he seems like such a giggler xD
This was awesome, thanks for uploading :3 Quickest 20 minutes ever
Smashing knitwear, chaps!
LOL they're talking about how Chris isn't like Arnold and it's so cute because um he is remarkably similar. Great stuff all round.
Chris' "dad jumper" is the cutest damn thing i think I've ever seen
when you live in north america, every time you see cars hurtling towards them on the "wrong side" your heart skips a beat
RL seems like a right gent, and makes a real effort with people, so does CB
Robert should do one of the episodes where he has all of the Dwarfers in the car now that would be pretty awesome.
DIPPOTATCHIP GAMING! Turning carpool into red dwarf it would still be awesome
Starbug v Prius..
Rewatching this in 2017!
This show is just fantastic. I feel it is about time for it to come back ;)
I keep forgetting Chris was an impressionist. Brilliant ^_^
I've met Chris Barrie! I fangirled so hard
Ditzy Director ur pretty frigging lucky dude. rimmer is one of the funniest characters ever. "Arnold, where's the nappy sacks"
I'm so jealous. Is he a nice guy? He seems like a lovely guy. Rimmer for life.
+xgenesysx Yes he is :)
Carpool is brilliant haha!
Chris Barrie does a better Kryten voice than the actual Kryten!
Robert Llewellyn does an amazing Craig.
Well Chris was an impressionist before Red Dwarf, for spitting image
boromirtheboring I
always thought Robert was American until I heard him speak off the show . amazing how he can change accents
watch the smeg ups, when he messes up a line he goes back to his british accent and it really makes your head spin!
sounds like a right toffee nosed twatt
Chris's jumper is awesome. Robert's laugh is awesome. This show is awesome.
Awesome!!
Could listen to Chris Barrie all day.
fantastic 2 old mates having a chat
Lovely Renault 5 Turbo in the studio car park.
Brilliant! Love you guys! Boys from the Dwarf!
+Philip Croft sorry what's your question?
Leopararouen "you can have my mother... everyone else did"
I've adopted him as my father, so I guess we're related? 🙋🏻
Uncle Meat Approves.
I love the impressions they are doing of Red Dwarf! LOL Hilarious! The best is the Kryten Impression!
Ikr?! Chris sounds more like Kryten than Robert! 😅
Chris has an unmistakable streak of Alan Partridge in him... and I agree with every single thing he says! :)
Master of the wit and the repartee!
Love the voices at the end!
16.00 on makes me wish we'd see more of Chris on TV these days, what a talent.
Kryten and Rimmer. Great stuff.
I'm waiting patientally for his documentary on 20th century telegraph poles
Chris's Cat impersonation at 16:16 is hilarious.
Krytens impression of Craig Charles is spot on
love this show, love the concept and love Bobby & Chris!
I loved The Cat impression! xD
Excellent. Loved the impressions.
GO CHRIS BARRIE!
SMEG THEY WENT RIGHT PAST MY HOUSE!!!!!!!
I might never get to meet them in my lifetime, but this was the next best thing!
This is ace, I love the bit about the Prius XD
ah boys you had me in tears THANKYOU its been a shity day until now
I would love to meet Chris Barrie one day, as a fellow mechanic/engineer who has spent there life repairing cars, I now spend my time restoring old machinery from my garage at home. I hate the modern car they are a mobile PC on wheels these days and have no real horse power like the older cars.
He would love to meet you, too an spend time with you in your garage.
Your not funny
And if something is wrong with a new car, it's usually electronic which you can't even diagnose unless you have a diagnostic computer worth a king's ransom. Long gone are the days of the shade tree mechanic and that's rather sad. :(

Wow! He's so good at voices!!
Possibly the best reply I've ever heard!
Great quality
What a revelation! I never saw Chris as a James T Kirk. Talent really can be brutal. Props . Rob... n.. that Liverpudlian. Sound. Kensington guy.
the entry music is very sublime

This was a great idea for a show.
I liked how Chris did the voices of the characters from Red Dwarf. :)
he plays Rimmer that well because he is a proper good actor
Loopy Land thats absolutley true
Is it wrong that I still find Chris Barrie gorgeous?! lol
I love watching this when Rob carpool's the other cast member's of Red Dwarf because you see how good friends they all are....Can't wait for the new Series LONG LIVE THE SMALL ROUGE ONE
Why do you believe that apostrophes play a part in plurals?
I'd be interested to see what Chris thinks about the iMiev, or the Tesla Roadster.
Wow the starbug cockpit has changed so much in this season!
"Right! Lost property forms!"
great memories growing up laughing at these guys
this is the best episode ever!!!
I hope Ace will be back for breakfast :)
I love these guys. The input sensitivity on Bob's mic was set too high. I guess they fixed it in subsequent episodes.
They employed a much simpler technical solution, they just put it further down his seatbelt.
part 2
5:22 The C5 was an idea WAY ahead of it's time.
It's more of a scale model of what car companies would be doing in 2018 than an actual roadgoing vehicle.
I cannot believe that Chris was talking about going 'up the greasy pole' when talking about career! Up, up, up the zigguraut - likety split!
It's on his IMDB page.
Top Gear. Episode #2.2 (2003)
So it's one of the early episodes of the new Top Gear, they don't tend to get repeated as often.
*facepalm*
Yes. Next question.
The Red Dwarf impressions were awesome!
acchh... love these guys!
how good is chris barrie :D
Podcasts were originally audio only, but it gives people something to look at if they want.
I honestly believe Chris should have been considered as David Tennant's successor.
ARNOLD J RIMMER lol love these guys rimmer and kryteee haha :)
Dad' s Army is Sapce..LOL! love it!
Loved it!
I share the same idealistic concepts on cars as Chris Barrie. He's awesome!
Dads' Army in space.
This is actually a good concept for a hidden camera interview show on TV.
