I love this series. Robert is superb, and so funny. His laugh his absolutely brilliant. It makes you want to laugh, = ). And Jo was as wonderful as always. Great people; great show.
How remarkably down to earth! I love that bit at the end re tea and using the 'facilities'. Its like every celebrity gets on and everyone is actually nice.
i would love to see a version of this on TV. i'd love to see it combined with travel, so all we would see is a half an hour interview, combined with the landscape passing by. absolutely minimal editing. it could be called.....Magical Mystery Tour. people are fed up with fake staged interviews, and unreal holiday programmes.....but they would love to see someone being casually interviewed, and see the sights and sounds of foreign cities and landscapes.
I think it's great that she thinks that if you use material on a show, that you should work on new material to use on stage. It makes watching a show in the audience feel more personal when you haven't heard their joke a million times on TV. Lots of comedians obviously can't just do that because material is a bit hard to polish up, but it was endearing to know she thinks of it that way.
Are you kidding? They don't say what they think, they say what's going to benefit their show biz career. If you want to know what they really think, you'd have to be a fly on the wall.
@lixechan Because we're still living in a society where the vast majority of men are of the opinion that masculinity is in and of itself a virtue, and the general opinion among such men is that homosexuality detracts from one's masculinity. Therefore, to be called gay is to have your virtues impugned.
If, as a man, you think the worst heckle you can get is "poof", you're not living in the world you pretend to be. There's nothing wrong with that, if it offends you to be called gay, you're no better than the person that intended it as an insult. The thing that should be offensive is the fact that they used that word. Sucks that that ever even happened, to anyone, ever.
What is the point of this show? I love watching it but are they actually en route to a place the guest needs to be (I ask because she gave directions a couple times) or they're just driving around? I think it's a great idea for a TV show instead of just a podcast though!
It's good to see that real actual interesting people are being interviewed. Think if they put someone like.. Victoria Becham in the car with him. Jesus I would concider shooting myself somewhere watching that.
@lixechan I think the point is that sexual insults are generally held to be the most obscene and hurtful; the heckler's got no affection for political correctness, generally speaking. Male comedians, on the whole, get off rather lightly on this front, it's more that their comedy craft will be the thing that is insulted, whereas female comedians will have far more personal, and indeed physical, insults hurled at them. That's my interpetation and unfortunate experience, at least.

Carpool is the best online show ever invented.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I want to be just like Jo Brand when I grow up.
Well 13 years later are you getting there?
fantastic, i really enjoyed that!
What a clever idea for a TV/Online show!
Jo's fantastic.
He's going willingly into her house, oh dear....Did he not remember what she said those gloves were for?!!
Love this show! :D
@mentalguitarist I was thinking Fry, Ade Edmonson, and Nigel Planer.
This ones quite short isnt it? Shame really i like listening to Jo Brand talk about stuff.

Psychiatric nurse training? Dear God Jo, it all makes so much sense now...
@darynjacobs Yeah, there's no way for the interviewees to escape.
Awesome :)
@damonteufel No Rik?
These were uploaded 7 years ago. Celebrity carpools before James Corden stole the idea.
hows about getting Jo Brand, Stephen Fry and Ross Noble in at once and going on a big roadtrip?
Wow, I really like Joe brand after watching this, she seems really cool.
Are you kidding? They don't say what they think, they say what's going to benefit their show biz career. If you want to know what they really think, you'd have to be a fly on the wall.
This is how fucked up UA-cam is....every time I play a David Mitchell video or Carpool, they play me french commercials......what the fuck?

What about her writing novels bothers you so much?
Diet Coke lololololol
Robert doesn't seem as at ease with Jo as he did with, say, Stephen Fry...
Jo writes novels!? I've lost all confidence as a woman....
Brand is vile.
