- It's time to settle this once and for all: was it a touchback or was it out at the one yard line. It was a controversial call that could have very well robbed Texas A&M of an incredible victory over Clemson. Luckily, the trial of the century is happening with a very special witness.

As an Aggie, I can confirm this was pretty much the mood in Kyle Field the night of September 8th, 2018. LMFAO great video as always!

Paul Warren thanks! I don’t know how it looks to people outside college station but this team feels very different than the one we had under Kevin Sumlin. All we ask for is that we play up to our talent level. Doesn’t have to be a natty but losing 4 out of 5 games in the second half of the year is inexcusable with the talent we have.

Bacnow bama and Auburn will be pretty tough. Probable loss to Mississippi State. Ole Miss would be a lot more dangerous if they had a defense and the don’t. A&M will control the the tempo of that game. LSU should be a good game but I’m not sure if we even know what to expect from LSU because Miami seems overrated to me personally but we will see.

the officials aren't allowed to use replays that aren't filmed on espn licensed cameras or whatever the rule is. anyways the pylon cams aren't licensed so they couldn't use it and therefore couldn't make the correct call

I enjoyed the "only decent out of conference opponent" quote. Their SEC brethren Gamecocks will feel slighted over that comment. However, NW State, LA-Monroe, and UAB aren't anything to shoot a cannon over.

This is a great parody. Excellent writing, filming and acting. It also exposes the 800 lb gorilla in NCAA football , corrupt officiating to maintain regional power teams for viewership and advertising revenue. Every weekend the game becomes less about the game and more about money. I understand the need for ad dollars, but do ad dollars understand the need for integrity in the game. We’ve seen a two hour event expanded to 4.5 hours telecast for ad dollars. The structure and rhythm of the game is being destroyed by the need for the dollars that have evolved the game. We are not at the tipping point yet, but most viewers can see it on the horizon from where the game is today.
It is the inevitable result of professional sports.
It has ruined the NFL (does anyone actually believe the league isn't rigging games?) and professional soccer worldwide.
At this point, it is trending towards the WWE.
You, my friend, are correct. I'm a fan of Mountain West school, Utah State. I know to all you SEC folks a team like Utah State is a cupcake but that doesn't make it any less meaningful for the fans of smaller programs. We have our own traditions and rivalries that mean a ton to us, but unfortunately, the Group of 5 conferences, along with the FCS, D2, and D3, are all probably going to be non-existent sooner or later. Pretty soon, the Power 5 will be all that's left of college football, and once that happens, the game will be a mere shell of what it once was. I think eventually, All of College Football along with High School football will die. All because of the enormous amounts of cash that sit upon the game. It'll collapse under the weight of itself.

Does anyone else think the SEC needs to look at balancing the East and West? I mean it's been YEARS since the East was even close to be as good as the west. As it stands now there is only ONE good team in the East. I think they need to look at putting Auburn in the East with Bama's save the date being Auburn. The Bama-Tennessee Rivalry is dead anyway. The west could take Vandy or Missouri. There is no way in hell that Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Missouri should be in the same division! Complete and total joke!
It's cyclical. There was a time not too long ago everyone said the same about the East that they're currently saying about the West.
SECFans I understand that is normally the case. When the SEC expanded last time they screwed up though. Missouri should have been in the West and Auburn should have moved to the East. They expanded and added another potential power to the already far better west.

Clemson was choking in the 4th
The refs saved them and that was not the only time in the game. The bogus roughing call and the push off no-call. All three calls gave Clemson momentum that they did not earn and the horrendous fumble call costed aTm the game. Very sickening to watch. Proud of how y'all played in the 2nd half against that phony baloney Yabbo Dabbo Clemons club. I'm not for moral victories but when the refs decide games I reserve the right to my own opinion of who played better. Roll Tide!

I understand the frustrations. I would of hated to win off of this, but we won due to the fact the QB threw an interception when going for two. They had the opportunity. It was not ruined by the refs. Also... the holding calls were not being called throughout the game. Very proud Clemson fan and family here. We were at the game. The A&M folks were amazing! Best fans ever! Roll Tigers! #13 forever!
Yeah it is pretty hard to get the quarterback when you're being held on every single play. Mond played out of his mind I'll give him that but 75% of those throws he made could have easily been picked as like they were caught

According to all the camera angles, there wasn't enough to overturn or confirm the call. Maybe SEC refs should get better with their jobs?
And even if it was overturned, Clemson still would have won regardless, thanks to the next drive. At least you got beat by a really good team and not a team like Nebraska or Louisville.

this call happened with like 2 minutes left in the 4th. the next drive was a 3 and out by Clemson and a&m scored on their final drive but didn't complete the conversion to send the game to overtime. if the call were reversed a&m would have won

Short was hilarious, but I still dont see how anyone can look at the Pylon Cam and somehow think it WASNT a touchback. It goes straight over the Pylon. If even a millimeter goes over, it's a touchback, and it seemed to sail over it pretty squarely.

His stats were All World on Sat night, but I swear I've never seen so many tipped balls go wobbling right into the WR's hands. Had absolutely no bearing on the game, because clemson had no intentions on trying to get a first down when they got the ball back then shanked the punt. Shoulda held on to the ball. Shoulda got the conversion. Both teams fumbled on the goaline. Let it go.
You should have shown when that side-winding ref threw his bean-bag marker at the 2 yard line to mark where the ball went out of bounds, when he suddenly realizes (as an ACC ref) he cant let an un-ranked SEC team beat the best ACC team - so he picks up his marker and then says "Oh, er , I mean, the ball went into the end-zone for a touch-back ".
The call was they didn't have conclusive evidence to reverse thus the original call stood. Had the original call been out of bounds it would have been on the 2 yard line but since SEC and ACC refs called touchback it stood. Also Texas A&M had numerous chances before hand to tie or even overtake so to say that one call cost them is laughable.

Larry Leach ACC is looking kinda sorry. Clemson almost lost to an unranked A&M and even though the pylon call didn’t necessarily lose A&M the game, the momentum was clearly in the Aggies favor.

From Mr. AeroTiger’s (retired 29 year NASA veteran) explanation, it should be apparent that the ball came sufficiently close enough to going straight over the pylon as to not show, beyond a reasonable doubt, that it didn’t. This statement is backed by the official SEC reviewers at the game. Note that, as explained in Exhibit A, the commentators jibber jabber should be inadmissible as evidence as it was based on unreliable off-angle views.

As clearly pointed out by Mr. ChE_1535’s geometry-based analysis, even within reasonable errors in assumptions of the exact x-y coordinates of the launch point and landing point, it still proves, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the ball did indeed pass over, or perhaps even inside of, Mr. Pylon.
In my closing statements, I would to say that the defense has more than proved that the allegations of impropriety have been logically and factually disproved today. I would also like to point out that Texas A&M has a great football team, and that I fully expect them to upset AT LEAST one SEC team on their grueling remaining schedule. But I also must point out that fan base of this team who were so quick to base the outcome of the game on officiating should duly note the numerous no-call holds perpetrated by their OL’s on Clemson’s DL’s.
