Nigel Watson was a great support for peter green, saw them 4 times as splinter group and they played locally in our village hall and was privileged to have seen them do the sound check and have a brief chat with him,it was a moment i will never forget.
Anyone can shred on a guitar and bang on the drums. This exists on a different realm. The sheer tranquility and bliss that this composition has achieved is pure love. Thank you Peter Green.
My heart is breaking today, what a timeless contribution he made to music history...Few will ever come close to the personal emotions he infused into each piece he composed and performed...
@@gbwildlifeuk8269 thank you for assuming that I know nothing about Peter Green Fleetwood Mac or Peter Green Splinter Group...you couldn’t be more wrong. Go judge someone else, oh ! And have a lovely day!
He turned up to our local pub around autumn 1995 completely out of the blue and played to us for the next 7 hours, with the odd break to have a drink and a chat. What lovely man and mesmerizing guitar player. RIP Pete let the angels take yo to your favourite place.
Beautiful piece of music. As this sat at number one in the charts, I as a 15 year old walked into a room in the local youth club as this exquisite piece took off. Everyone just melted. No one moved. Immobile in time. A moment I hold till I am no more.
imagine what was going through his head when he was playing this, the memories, the love, pain, happiness, good times upsetting times. a life well lived, rip mate
One of the best pop instrumentals of all time. I don't think Peter ever saw an albatross in flight, but I did - from the stern of a ship crossing the Tasman Sea towards New Zealand just before I was to play the evening show. 35 years later I can't think of any other music to go with that image. Olov hashalom, Peter, and a long life to the rest of us.
I just got goosebumps reading your comment, Frederick, because my one and only albatross sighting was also from the stern of a ship crossing the Tasman to NZ, in 1972. I stood at that rail for a whole day, as this bird swooped down to almost touch the waves with its wingtips, then soared upward, then moved up to pace us alongside, just a few yards from me, then back to its station a hundred yards behind. Over and over, and never flapped its wings once. Not once. Oh, and yes, this is for sure one of the best instrumentals ever.
My favorite guitar instrumental along with Beck's Bolero but this song is dreamy and special! I hope that you are playing your awesome tunes on the other side Peter!
@@neillalewis He gave the Gibson Les Paul to Gary Moore for next to nothing.Peter wanted it to have a good home. It got broken when someone crashed into Gary Moore's car while parked on the street.
Peter Green was amazing for sure .... but let us not forget Nigel Watson also a brilliant musician in his own right and they were great friends. Nigel helped him passively for a long time.
Your comment reminds me of Jumping at Shadows. Everybody points their hand at me I know I'm just a picture Of what I should have been I've been Jumping at Shadows Just thinking About my life
Thank you Peter for the music you gave us in the late 60s to 1970! 🙂 Although we all wish it could’ve been more, it was plenty enough to show just how wonderful your soul was and just how talented of a musician you were!
One of the greatest players and songwriters of that era. The people that are complaining about his playing should have some sympathy or better yet some empathy. Listen to his legacy and also realize that medication can affect one's playing. I saw and met Peter several years ago and although not playing as fast as his former self his "SOUL" still came through. He still knows how to phrase and get a great tone and if you play Blues you would know that those qualities are the most valuable to have. Respect.
+Jim Labos Thanks Jim...People are so dam heartless and cruel..This Beautiful Man went thru a Hell we no nothing about..This make me cry now...He does not need meds but I know the problem etc etc..
how could anyone criticize this man's musical expertise, he has heart, passion, craftsmanship, and he is a true virtuoso. There will never be another one like him. Just never accept drugs from strangers, it has happened to too many musicians, always seems to happen in Munich
As a young man of 17 I found Fleetwood Mac the Original Fleetwood Mac album. I got every vinyl record after that until Tusk. I listen every week to Peter Green I’m so lucky to own so many of Peter Green songs many of them I have three copies of the same songs all different. I love his raw stuff. Such a brilliant song writer, lyric’s simple genius behind the man.
The one and only, i hope you have a happy and bluesy time in heaven with all the other bluesman, who are there forever playing this wonderfull music all day and all night long!!!!!!!
I dont care if peters not playing or not playing much its peter green ffs i saw him live in 2000 and it made hairs stand up on back of my neck. Just magical. ❤
Such an elegant, beautiful piece and what an amazing, lyrical player Peter Green was - I listen to his early stuff now more than ever. I still have the original single - bought it when I was 13 😀
How refreshing to see Peter playing, again, it’s like he’s back in the arms of a long lost soulmate, reunited. He is a legend and I hope generations of kids dig through the old Fleetwood Mac archives, and watch a real master play. I loved him with Danny Kirwan, but there’s tons of albums preceding that incarnation of Fleetwood Mac. Back in the day when they made the guitars do the singing.Bless your talented heart Peter...keep on playing.
This piece of music goes back to my musical formative years, back when rock-n-roll could be so much more than just three chords! Peter, you WILL be missed!!!
my favorite guitarist of all time from when i first heard him as a young kid in the sixties. My brother was playing the first Fleetwood Mac LP and even at that young age i fell in love with his guitar playing. Strangely enough just the day before i was watching the story of Peter Green on BBC4 that i had recorded. 3 years ago. Something must have been speaking to me. Man of the World one of the greatest songs every written and the lyrics are so poignant and the guitar work so sweet and sensitive. RIP Peter Greenbaum.
Jörgen Olsson and to mine too. I was born in 1950 and still feel 30 years old. This music defined the most fundamental years of musical experience. I consider myself to be truly blessed to have grown up in the 1960’s.
Reminds me of the heady days of college during the hot Summers of the mid 70's when I played this music by the swimming pool when it was too hot to sleep in the dorm.
I was thinking along similar lines: Summer nights on the beach or by the lake; our entire lives in front of us; friendships we thought would last forever but rarely lasted longer than a a few years... the anticipation, the magic, the viscosity of warm youth...
One of the truly great blues guitarist, will be sadly missed, one of the first blues I heard as a teenager " Need your love so bad" brilliant deserved so much more recognition than he got R I P Peter.
I’ve been listening to different versions of Albatross for the last few weeks, and I think this one is my favorite. Green’s guitar work is just lovely, as usual, but the organ stoking the fire below it all is wonderfully subtle addition.
In the old days, this lullaby of guitar wonder played in the background of an overnite party which reached the early morning coming down stage of distant color dissolving, and stamping a moment of time in our life. (1971 ISH)
Beautiful Albatross by Peter, sadly now gone. I was in the military in Western Germany when this came out. I caned the album to death. My kids were concieved to this. Music so lovely. xx Peter.

Peter Green. One of the beautiful people.
J.B Mac Forever
He played a Gibson on the original. It's unlikely that he has any of his old guitars after his "disappearance" because he didn't play for many years.
+J.B Mac Forever that guitar has a modern 2 point bridge, so it's probably a newer one, but it does sound vintage
