I saw the child actor playing the child version of Captain Picard did a really good job and matched the mannerisms of Patrick Stewart and accent pretty well
Do you think Picard was constantly discusted by himself. Like the whole time he was thinking "Look at me Im a stupid demon child now. My worst nightmare."
Or wanting to go on those Archeology digs cuz he is no longer fit to be the captain as a child, he didnt belong on the bridge And Troi talks him back to a star fleet mind set and he gets his mojo back retaking his own ship as a child
I did not see this above video all the way through, but I should note that David Tristan Birkin, who played the young Picard, also played Picard's nephew Rene in the episode "Family". In that episode, Rene states that one day he will be in Starfleet and in charge of his own ship. It looks like "one day" came sooner than expected for David Tristan Birkin.
my only nitpick the decades ago, when i watched this episode the first time was, that Guinan even when shes alien and hundreds of years older than any of the others, she still deaged the same way anyone else did.
@@NerdilyDone i mean it makes sense in a way, since picard is also way older than the other 2 but still... 10 years 40 years but 600 years... i feel like she should look the same.
its because they weren't particularly de-aged, the transporter accident reverted their bodies to a pre-pubescents state. that's why Picard and Keiko also ended up the same age, despite him being older than her.
@@NerdilyDone It's not de-aging by a fixed increment, it is non-linear. That's why the plants went back a couple of weeks, Guinan went back a couple of centuries, and the others were somewhere in between.
I actually think the kids who played the adults in this episode were really great. They embodied their adult characters perfectly. No, it's not a great episode, but there is some good acting from those kids.
I also always found it funny that this episode shows yet again the huge potential of transporter technology and how it is again generally overlooked due to reasons unknown.
I actually enjoyed the child version of Guinan. She also played Whoopi Goldberg as a child in “Sister Act.” Guinan’s line at the end about how crayons can take you to more places than a starship was eye-rolling.
I feel like this episode was specifically made for you guys to review (read: skewer) decades later. Personally, I like that the first thing Picard does upon being de-aged is to have his suede jacket resized.
Wouldn't it make sense for at least one of them to say, "actually, just age me back up to 22-25." Also, did regressing in age fix Picard's artificial heart? It must have turned back into an artificial heart when he got old again.
For a recurring character, O'Brien seemed to be on more episodes than some of the regular cast members. He definitely brought more of a family dynamic to the series than Dr. Crusher did when Wesley left. I've said it before that he should have stayed on TNG instead of jumping to the newer DS9 show just for main character credits.
Yes slow start to S6. But here comes about 5 solid episodes in a row. And the rest of the season is really good too - with the usual couple hiccups along the way.
Lol 😂👍🏻 Season 1 had some cringe worth writing and plots The other seasons might get boring here and there with techno babble and science/future jargon. But theres a bigger plot then "yeah so remember when Kirk and the enterprise crew had ether a sexual experience or ship wide sexual phenomenon" And season 1 TNG was notable on that cringe 😂🤦♂️🤦♂️ Only Data getting Lt. Yarr was a "win" and i still had to look away but the thought made me laugh Dude with no drive or emotion gets the most passionate emotional person on the ship Win 😂🤦♂️
I didn’t realize that was the actor from Picard’s nephew😃. Genius idea to make Worf a kid to add to their father-son story. Idk why but I kinda liked this episode despite the obvious missed opportunities.
I don’t really understand what problem you had with the techno babble in this episode. Riker explained a lot of very important components of the computer. But I’ve seen the Enterprise-D technical manual and he left out a lot of important items. Like the gyroscopic phase inducer manifold. And the subinduder static initiator (which of course is needed to decrease phasic shift in the aforementioned gyroscopic phase inducer manifolds).
Remember, Star Trek Picard tells us that El-Aurians like Guinan can age or not age at will. Also keep that in mind for the movie Star Trek Generations.

As an artist, I have done some experimenting with crayons and discovered they are very limiting. The wax does not go into the tooth of the paper easily so you don't get a nice color fill. Not is blending really possible as seen in the picture that like like a nebula. I do think the mother picture was actually drawn with crayon and it's pretty good. Very expressive. Given a choice, as a child artist I much preferred colored pencils.

Aren't Klingon ships with cloaking devices top secret technology that even the Federation hasn't managed to get their hands on? The Ferengi commander made it sound like he bought those two Birds-of-Prey at a used car lot.
I believe the Federation at this time chooses not to use cloaking to adhere to a treaty between them and Romulan, not so much because they don't have the technical knowledge. I figure the Ferengi just stole those ships though.
I always assume episodes like this (with a main character absent) are likely due to that character filming another episode at the same time... Stewart may have been working on Chains of Command 1-2 at the same time they were filming this atrocity.
