I had the exact same Colt for a year, my average consumption was 10.1 l/100km. The build quality was a joke, the soundproofing was worse than anyone can imagine but it was reliable. Very reliable. I came off of a Fiat Stilo Dynamic with 1.8 petrol at 133hp and Stilo felt much more jumpy, but Stilo had a tendency to leave me stranded every now and then, even though I swapped out a bunch of parts under the bonnet. So all love for the reliability of the Colt. But nothing else. After that, I had a Polo Colour concept with a 1.4 75hp - same as this Fox in the video, and it averaged 10l /100km, I drove it for a year, every drive to work felt like I was driving Colin McRae rally because the car was small and jumpy. It all ended with the exhaust spitting blue smoke. Sold the car to a couple of Gypsies from Romania for 100€. Good review, thanks for the video. Liked the fact that you covered so many points. I'm about to go check a 1.2 petrol Fox with 100.000 km on the clock, as a first car for my wife. Cheers
Thank you for your comment! The Fox was also the first car for my wife. I am thinking more and more to replace it with something else, but she loves it 😆 also, the owner of the Colt here owns it for 2.5 years already and even though it was bought used, there are still no problems. Only the exhaust was changed because it was rusted. My father also has a Colt, an 18-years old one and had no issue in almost 3 years owning it. Those things are really reliable. As for the gypsies, I hope they sold the car for scrap metal 😆
In terms of interior plastics they are more or less similar, but Colt is superior in terms of build quality. And it feels more solid while driving too.
Yeah VW Fox looks like a nice car but not as reliable as the Colt , i have a very old Colt from 2007 it has done 117 thousand miles and still working good , i have not seen many VW Foxes with that many miles in good condition
I have a Colt and they are a lot faster than the VW Fox and i would say probably more reliable as mine is from 2007 has done 117 thousand miles and not had any major engine clutch or gearbox issues , the things i dont like about the Colt are the poor build quality the steel used to make them is very poor , there's no AC and the gear change is very notchy , the VW fox i have not driven before but i do know they dont tend to last long due to being produced in Brazil VW designed it as an entry level car for young drivers they are very cheap to buy here in the UK £1200 will get you a 2009 VW fox with low miles but as i said they are not very reliable sadly.
The Fox compared here is mine and used as a city car mainly. I had no major issues with it. I recently changed the coil pack and the spark plug wires. I also had some minor issues with the drum brake cylinders who got blocked, but this was solved with 10£ 😁 mine is exactly 100 thousand miles now. So my Fox was pretty reliable. But Colt is superior in terms of reliability. The one here is 84 thousand miles now. It was made in 2010 and the owner has it for 2 years already. Absolutely no issues apart from the exhaust pipe that had to be replaced because got holes in it due to rust. And now the horn is dying and needs to be replaced 😆 but no serious issues.
@@JurnalAuto Hi again i am glad to hear your VW Fox has been reliable and no major issues ,as the ones i have seen in the UK where i am , always seem to have a lot of issues when they hit around 70 thousand miles , the Colt from what i know was made in Holland at same place as Smart Forfour and uses Mercedes branded parts so that could explain why it is so reliable , both are good cars and my advice is always avoid Renault or Peugeot as i had both makes of car in the past and very bad they were.
@@Cayres9 yep, I saw written on the B pillar in the Colt "made in Netherlands." The Fox was bought from Germany and it belonged to a lady. Not the "old lady who drove it to the market" we all know about 😆 I had a Renault Megane MK2 for 2 years. It was my first car. I owned it without major issues except some small electrical issues which are known for Renault. But I bought it at 37 thousand miles and sold it at 50 thousand so it was still quite new. Apart from Fox I also own an Opel (Vauxhall) Astra J 1.6 diesel which I use it mainly on longer trips. 112 thousand miles on the clock and surprinsingly zero issues in the past 17 months since I own it.
@@JurnalAuto Yes French cars are a bit dodgy to say the least , the new Dacia Sandero is supposed to be ok though and that uses a Clio engine , Vauxhalls are usually good apart from ECU issues ,if my colt eventually does die i will buy a newer one to replace it as here there are so many for sale very cheap so it makes sense to buy another , anyway enjoy your Sunday my friend , thank you for your help.

You don't get much soundproofing on small hatches. These cars weigh under a ton. But I didn't find the colt noisy when I drove one.

Some of the fox models also have a movable rear bench
Yes, forgot about that one. Thank you!
Mitsubishi is definedly the Winner ;) Because the Colt has 5 Years Warranty till 100k Km. The Quality in the Fox is much worst.

@@JurnalAuto
Not just that; the Brazilian 1.6L version is also more powerful, with 81-88kW (109-119HP)
Fox better looking!
