New subscriber! 63 here. I've been mountain biking for about 13 years. I've ridden Niner, Santa Cruz, Specialized etc. etc. and I just bought my first E-bike last week. It's a Greenway/Urban bike but now that my wife is riding with me, that's just what we do. I wish I could convince myself that a $5000 "Brand name" full suspension mountain bike would be worth it!!?? but my Tesway Comet will have to do for now.
Welcome to the channel. Full suspension would be nice, but It is hard to justify the costs of some of these mountain bikes these days. Enjoy your new Tesway and time riding together with your wife. have a great week.
EMTB is a great sport, you can adapt it to your liking and get back in shape while having fun uphill and downhill... 67 here I’ve been doing it for 4+ years now, getting better all the time. A good way to pace yourself (while avoiding the throttle) is to monitor your heart rate, keep it in the right training zone, you will see improvements! 👍
I was a but sore the next day, and even though I didn't show it on the video, I did break my middle toe hitting a tree root. So now I got. Purple middle toe. Still had a blast though.
I got the same bike setup different though. That’s an awesome trail! The thing about the Summit is since it’s a hub drive you have to kinda stay ahead of it and maintain a higher speed to keep that Hub engaged. When you slow down at the beginning of a hill it’s a little harder to get it rolling up and the pa to kick in, where as a mid will give you torque faster. I still love the hub drive though, faster top end for sure!
Enjoyed that. 52 here and find this sport can really get the low back and hamstrings tight. I’ve been adding a mobility/strength routine that gets me sweaty before throwing a leg over the bike. Riding longer and more frequently now. Yes buy more gear and wear it all the time. My 2 cents
Im 59 and just started emtbing bout 3 months ago, mainly tracks. Green to black tracks, black tracks still freak me out a little so I just roll them, dont do jumps at my level. Wait til you start doing tight switchbacks up and down hills. Im from Kaiteriteri in New Zealand. check out some of the videos from Kaiteriteri mountain bike park lol. Enjoy your rides.
Green and blues are good for me now. They will help me learn before I try a black. I would probably just roll it to. I did go and check out some video of Kaiteriteri mountain bike park. Looks Scary, Fun and Beautiful all at the same time.
Yeah nice place and scenery, just a pity of the drops on one side where people have fallen off and ended up in hospital, hence my fear of jumping at my level. If it was around more flat ground I would at least try learning some.
Im still young, turned 59 in May this year and just started learning EMTB just about 3 months ago when the snow dissapeared here in sweden. Ive been a road cyclist since september last year so I had a little bit of practice 🤣😍 Great video anyway, followed to see what else youll do in future. Keep it up ol Timer 🤣🥰 I also find all the people I meet here in sweden, hikers, mtb riders and other adventurers are all very happy and friendly, which i was truly amazed by because I did not expect that. :) Ive fallen 2 times kinda rough, and after the first fall i got myself back and knee and ellbow protection, and now the wife feels better too :)
Yeap. I actaully broke my middle toe on this ride. Hit it on a tree root, but it did not stop me. Safety gear is coming though. My wife said she was going to wrap me in bubble wrap before I ride again. LOL
Why would anyone complain about someone riding an EMBT, as long as you pedal all the time and don't rely solely on the motor. I would not stop in the middle however, someone may crash into you and then they would have a reason to get pissed off.
Everyone breaths differently and you can change the power so the pedaling mimics a amish bike and you use the same power but just go faster and farther. Ebikes arent any faster than a pro xc rider uphill. Theyre limited to 20mph so amish bikes are faster going dh and on the flat.

Nice bike. I’m also in my 60’s. Been riding mountain bikes since the 1980’s. I recently got an E-MTB, and love it.
Very cool!

Thanks for the tips. I will put it into practice.
Nice ride, great to watch, I wish my body could handle that type of riding, but where I live, there are no ride like that

Yeap, I just have to learn its nuances.

Great job on diving in! The mtb world is the best fun and most are missing out on one of lifes best rec activities.
Thanks, and couldn't agree more.

There is some 80 yr. old that rides a Specialized EMTB at wilder, emma's, and yukon.
Maybe I will get lucky enough to see him on the trail, and he can give me some pointers. That would be cool.

I think the ones who complain about it are only in the comment sections. Not brave enough to say it in person when they actually have to face them.
60? I could have sworn you were like 50, good for you, must be healthy, stress free living or great genes.
Thank you. I try to keep healthy.
Keep pedaling
Will do.
EMTB and still after 1 minute out of breath? Get a normal MTB and work on you condition.

Or i can just turn the power off.
