I already made a potato chip quilt with an 8" center clock and 2"x4" rectangles. Such a fun and easy quilt!! Thanks for sharing your ideas with the larger rectangles! I will be making more for sure!!
You'll love this larger rectangle, Sharon! Easier to cut and quicker to sew. That's probably why this quilt was finished in less than a week! Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
I now know why you are so passionate about the potato chip blocks. I've just recently been able to sit at the machine (due to a knee injury) and sew some of these blocks together and I am now totally addicted!!! You can't make just one.
Wow! Why didn’t I think of making a reversible quilt before??? I have a few tops that can be joined instead of shopping for backing. Thanks for the inspiration! 🧵
It was the extra shopping that inspired me to go reversible, Anne! Especially when two go together so well. I've started a new playlist for my reversible quilt tutorials as there will be more. Thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
I think I'm going to do this. I have so many FQs I've collected over the years and really need to use them up. I love scrappy quilts. They really say "use me!". You just want to snuggle up in them unlike the fancy quilts that are more for show.
Absolutely, Neva! Plus it's much easier to manage larger blocks. These light and dark fabrics contrast really well. There's still more of this fabric left so I'll be finding something new to do with them. 😊 Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Loved the colours in your quilt top. Using bigger pieces of fabric certainly makes things move along quickly.. Thanks as always for your handy sewing tips 🥰
Dear Lea Louise, I just fell in love with your new quilt…… ❤ Both sides are beautiful, thanks for sharing this with the world. Lots of love, ka de slang (Carolina)
Thanks so much, Elizabeth! That's probably the biggest reason why I quilt! I've loved fabric since I started making my own clothes so many years ago. Sure appreciate you following along! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Aren't they wonderful, Vera?! Glad you're enjoying these quilt blocks! I have to make myself move on...at least for a couple weeks. 😂😂😂 Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Like the idea of low volume around the center square. A GREAT FAST Quilt to do for my daughter. Thinking of working in a definitive color palette! Enjoy your videos
Thank You! I have been watching your series of potato chip quilts and loved how you backed with a 2nd quilt. Your videos are so full of information! I look forward to your videos.
So appreciate you kind words, Anita. Glad you liked the reversible idea as I think it looks awesome. Thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
That is a great idea to make simple patchwork backing. I’ve got soooo many orphan charm packs in stash (I like how we can call a hoarding situation a “stash” 😂). This is a joyful way to finally utilize them. Thank you for the inspiration. ❤
That's a great idea to use all that fabric, Diana! My idea is the more 'stash' we use then the more fabric we can buy! 😂 Thanks for watching. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
You made me smile, Barbara! Sorry it happened to you but also a bit glad I'm not the only one. 😂 Sure appreciate you following along! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Fantastic I love both of them. Great job and great tutorial. Thank you so much for your time and effort. You really inspire me. I always love watching you.❤
Appreciate that, Sandi! Be sure you don't miss the next one, it's really quite an AWESOME trick! Sure appreciate you following along. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
That's awesome to hear, Sue! This was such a fun quilt to make and I love both sides. Especially the way they contrast each other. I have another reversible I want to work on that'll be gorgeous, too. Quilting is so awesome, isn't it?! Thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
You're PCB quilts are awesome! So glad you're having fun with them too. I've added a link to your channel to my 'Favorite Channels' on my channel's home page. Sure appreciate you following along! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
The first one I made was just to try it out and I liked the results. But then new ideas kept popping in my head I still haven't stopped. I thought I had until yesterday and then this idea came that I just couldn't resist. Be sure to check out my new creation when it's released later today! Sure appreciate you following along. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Hi Lea. This morning I watched your video for the download of free patterns. Could you please send them to me. I love all your ideas on how to make these quilts. Thank you
1. I often baste around the outside of the quilt before I do the quilting to limit that issue of the backing folding under. 2. I might offset the last row of chips so those seams don't match, as with the blocks themselves.
I love the potato chips quilts, so well explained which I appreciate cause I am new to quilting. Could you do a potato chip quilt that is quilt as you go without sashing on front of the quilt
It sure makes a great rectangular quilt, Diann! These larger blocks sure make this quilt go together fast! Have fun with your. Thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Yes, it is, Sarah! It's a great place to use a large piece of your favorite fabrics. These block are such fun to make! Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Welcome!! So glad to have you join us. These middle blocks are a 6.5-inch square. Or you can sew two of the 3.5x6.5 rectangles together for the same size. When you go through you scraps, look for a fun print that will look awesome in the center! Sure appreciate you following along. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
That's awesome, Madeline! They are such fun and so easy to make. This will be known as my "Summer of PCB's" 😂 Sure appreciate you following along! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Generally the center is two rectangles sewn side to side. In this case they would equal a 6.5-inch square, which is what I used in place of the double block center. I love to have larger pieces of pretty fabrics in my quilts. Once you try this, you really can't make just one!! Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Thanks so much for filling in the blanks for me!! It's a wonderful print and looks awesome with this mix of fabrics. Sure appreciate you following along! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

Oh, Betty, beware these blocks will grab you and not let go! The name was recently given in jest as 'You can't make just one!' It's actually a variation of the courthouse steps log cabin block. Instead of strips the 'logs' are made of bricks. It's a wonderful scrappy quilt and has so many different variations which I've been hooked on for a couple months now! 😂 Proceed with caution!! Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

I am vision impaired thinking of trying 81/2 center and 3 or 41/ 2 by 8 1/2 strips. Your thought?? Reversible great idea love it you are great😊
Easy I've made 5 of these, 45x70. 46x72

Do you cut the chips out with the ACCQUILT 4.5x2.5 die
New to this… so the center block is one 3 1/2 inch square?
Generally the center is two rectangles sewn side to side. In this case they would equal a 6.5-inch square, which is what I used in place of the double block center. What size center square for 2 1/2 wide strips?

I guess I have to guess what a potato chip block is. Never heard of it. You seem to be making a variation but what's the basic?
Oh, Betty, beware these blocks will grab you and not let go! The name was recently given in jest as 'You can't make just one!' It's actually a variation of the courthouse steps log cabin block. Instead of strips the 'logs' are made of bricks. It's a wonderful scrappy quilt and has so many different variations which I've been hooked on for a couple months now! 😂 Proceed with caution!! @@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise Thanks for the etymology. I couldn't see a potato chip but I can see not making just one.
Too much extraneous chit chat. Had to move on.
