Great to see you Lisa. That moment bean asked if they should use all the lime juice and your response was just adorable and pure life. Much love. Xxx

I was pleasantly surprised they thought to check ahha. Usually when they help pour in juice or soy milk for smoothies they just upend the entire container so I figured Bean would do the same here 😂

I feel like folks don't have the emotional energy to go into their fridge without a plan, and the way you've presented planning to use things up is both low key and low barrier. I know I barely have the energy these days, so I can't be alone, but videos like this remind me that simple is okay, and fed is best.

Very inspired by the you and Bean relationship x
feeling you on the adhd fridge struggles, I go from completely empty to overstuffed with half of the products in multiple amounts 🥹 thanks for so many yummy meal reminders!

We missed you💚🌟 I taught myself to cook at an early age because I had to make my own food. Nobody was going to cook separate things for me. It's an invaluable skill and it also boggles my mind when people don't eat their leftovers. Wasting food is a crime; so I have become more mindful as I've gone on in life. Thanks for continuing to share with us💚🌟

Great to see you back! I can't believe how much Bean has grown. I totally respect how you want to give your child the choice to appear on camera or on your social media. My parents didn't teach me to cook so I basically learned from UA-cam lol. I am similar to you in that I buy ingredients based on what is on sale and what recipes I want to make. But often, I don't want to make those recipes anymore and it can lead to food waste, which I am trying to be more conscious about. I love the idea of you sharing various ways of how you use up the ingredients in your fridge to make meals. Otherwise I will probably end up having toast and peanut butter.. 😅
I've moved to a new position at work, which has been stressful and combines with the heat of summer, I really don't feel like cooking anything right now. Hopefully with the cooler weather, I will want to start cooking again and being in the kitchen.

Ah, cooking with Bean took me back! My "toddler" is almost 28, but some memories stay with you forever. Their movements are lightning fast! This video is proof that all those "mommy vlogger" videos are fake. This video is what it really looks like when you try to cook with a very young child. Lisa, this slice of real life is precious and so helpful for moms.

The discussion around @14:40 is so so true. I’m a city girl but I also went vegan almost 10yrs ago and vegetarian for 4yrs before that. It was completely different back then. Granted I grew up in an immigrant home with home cooked traditional foods daily so I’m used to cooking at home and using up food and not having burgers and pasta every week - so becoming vegetarian and then vegan (while being broke 😂) is really where I got to use those skills and benefited from a diverse food palate. I see friends becoming vegan now and it seems more difficult for them to get by with everything being so expensive, not knowing how to make things on their own, and having a preference for the pricey processed stuff (as we all do - super yum - but if that’s all you eat? chiiiiild how do you function in this economy rn?! 😅)

I try to remember how we dealt with cooking growing up. I think my mum didn't really buy much extra stuff, we had some pantry staples and frozen veggie mixes and then if we needed something specific for a dish we would buy it. If we had leftovers you'd just eat those.
So we never really had large quantities of leftover ingredients I guess?
So yeah, I never learned cooking really to begin with, we had a small kitchen and we would get in my mum's way basically (even if you move out of the way or stick to one spot, but then in that spot you can't really see anything), so after a few minutes we'd be asked to leave (even if me or my brother was with her alone, because 3 people was basically too much for the kitchen).
So I never learned much cooking and never learned fridge clean outs.
Which is a problem now that I live alone because I a) don't really have the time to cook during the week and b) I buy specific cravings or stuff that is on sale and then I never know how to create a proper filling meal or it's all those pieces that mean enough carbs and protein etc. but the food parts don't really go together. It's more girl dinner vs proper meal, if that makes sense?
I've now turned to not buy stuff on sale anymore just for the sake of having it in the house and not at full price, because I always had the intention of "I'll use this in a meal that week" and then I never do (either because I crave other stuff or I don't end up cooking for days (I might had a good meal at work and then I'll just eat bread or something out of laziness in the evening/my work schedule means I have breaks late in the day so I don't eat after coming home).
So I think I really need to just go buy stuff if I really do cook that day/the next few days.
And once I get into the habit of cooking more regularly again (my work schedule will probably change to a "normal 8 to 5" towards the end of the year, which will mean I'll have to feed myself in the late afternoon/evening) than I can go buy what is in my fridge and what is on sale. And when that time comes I'd really like having these types of videos for inspiration.

I really appreciate this video 😊 I've also come to the realisation lately that people just don't really cook? I have been brought up seeing my family cook, so it's always been something I've done. But I'm currently 5 months pregnant 🤰 and tiredness and morning sickness got me, so we've had more takeout, and my goodness I just don't know how people can't afford doing it multiple times a week 😱 thank you for the meal inspo I needed it as I've also been fixating on meals and then I don't know what to do with the masses of produce left 😅

Hi there, I'm new and this video was recommended to me. I loved watching this. One thing I'm terrible at is using up all ingredients. I wonder if it's because I learned to cook in cooking school and not organically, like not at home. I look forward to seeing more content like this. I'm hoping it will help me learn how to remix ingredients in a way that is still tasty but varied.

I agree with your commentary on cooking as a necessity and normalcy not to mention how veganism has changed. I have been vegetarian since 1993 and started becoming vegan around 2000 and have been fully for almost 20 years. So much has changed. I learned to love cooking when I was young and we ate all our meals at home. I almost lost myself for awhile after being a great cook and perfecting cooking with wheat eggs and dairy I had learn all over again without. So glad I stuck it out because now I can’t cook well without. It was kind of a necessity but glad to see more options I can eat out though certainly not as easy as mainstream so it is mind boggling to me when people can eat all their meals out for both this reason and because of growing up eating at home and restaurants were a rare treat. Certainly I eat more takeout than growing up but not that much.

'They'? Oh, God, please don't force that shit on your toddler. You're gonna screw your child up, he or she needs reality presented plainly in order to make sense of the world. Pushing ideology onto a small child who doesn't know how to make sense of it will only cause confusion, and have him/her guessing at what's he/she is supposed to be in order to make Mommy happy. I've seen it.
