I spent years listening to Josh dorkin and Brandon Turner and then David Greene and Brandon turner.. I got out of the Army in 2016 end moved back to Arizona and got hired on as a corrections officer then bought my first foreclosure fourplex in 2017 remodeled it moved into one unit and did a VA Cash out refinance to house hack and received a $79,000 check. I currently have 49 multi-family units in the Phoenix Arizona Metro. I own 10 million dollars worth of real estate. Have a 3 million net worth and cash flow $20,000 per month. If it wasn't for Bigger Pockets I would still be working as a corrections officer making probably $20-25 an hour with no Investments or retirement planned
@aarongillette4420 I'm only 32 years old. it does feel good knowing I get to "choose" to work instead of "having" to work. Owning rental real estate is definitely not 100% passive. There still is work involved. I'm also a licensed real estate agent in Arizona, and I self manage all 49 of my units. But I definitely wouldn't trade it for going back to my 9 to 5 employment where I had to ask for time off and only got little pay raises with no retirement future I feel much more confident and secure in my life with my rental portfolio.
@johnnyb33good21 heck yeah man! I self manage a smaller portfolio than you but the freedom is what counts! I try to explain it to others and they look at my like I've got 3 heads. To each their own.
I love this! Nice job! I was a corrections officer at one point for 3 years and hated it. Getting into real estate this year through wholesaling but looking for a multifamily property also. One of my goals this year is to buy one using creative finance and private money partners to take it down
Its interesting, I'm currently a police officer and started the rich dad networking and listening to Brandon. I have a plan to quit within the next five years. So it's enlightening to know that someone who was in my area of work got out of it!
