Spent fall/winter in the banana belt of Montana once. I can recommend you visit the Helena Cathedral, Last Chance Gulch, and Mt. Helena Park next time you visit.

This might be a dumb question, But with Allergies why don't hikers look for local honey? If you get honey that is real honey and local, You won't have the allergy problems. It has all the pollen's that you are reacting to. I think just a honey bear is around 8 bucks but in a few days you don't have any issues.
It's hard to get local honey from all the different areas a hiker would be hiking through along the entire trail. On top of that, it takes time for the pillen in the honey to affect the body. The hikers would be long gone from the area before the honey had any effect.
@@stockbulll Actually local honey is pretty easy to find, Most feed stores have it. In ranch country pretty much every town has a feed store. It only takes about 2 days for the benefit of honey to kick in. Anyway here in the West it is easy to find.
For me eating the crappy hiker food is what causes my allergies to flare up 😅
And… and more importantly this doesn’t work. It works a little, but c’mon it maybe helps 15% max.
Local honey helps me after I have been eating it for a couple weeks. Her environment is changing so rapidly it probably won't do much.

I love even in middle of nowhere USA you can usually find an Asian restaurant of some sort. How many shoes are you planning on going through on this hike? How much money do you have allocated for things like dining out and hotel rooms? Speaking of hotel rooms, you paid $100 one night and the next night they wanted to charged you $175 for the same room? You do need an umbrella.
That did look pretty darn good. I remember those videos where you were on a roll with cooking dinners : ). My wife and family are heading for Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park this Sunday.
Hope you’re going (or went) to the Sweet Palace in Phillipsburg. The huckleberry fudge is legendary. May not be a good idea to fill your backpack with it before going through bear country 😂.

All I know is that when I was in my 20s, I only hiked the backcountry daily distances she often does a few times, and sometimes hurt myself doing it. I'm amazed she's pulling off those distances with that gear and that terrain. These days, I hike no more than 10-ish miles (if that), and I consider that a hike! It doesn't matter where, when, what I'm carrying, or whether it's overnight. I'm in my 60s tho'
Montana is renown for its wide open spaces, sushi, and random helicopters.

The sleeping giant reminds me of mt susitna in Anchorage Alaska which we call the sleeping lady across the Cook Inlet Excellent video today!
As usual, you showed me a few things I've never seen, and made me laugh. Leaving the Days Inn behind at $170 a night is an example of the latter. You read my mind there. I don't stay in them at any price, but I admire your fortitude. You're more entertaining than most movies/shows, so I'll send another $ contribution soon.

You must go through a lot of sneaker/hiking boots. When I used to run I had to replace my sneakers Every other month or less. Good Job and thanks for Sharing. Good group your hiking with.

Every year about this time, when the weather is very hot and has been for quite a while, I sadly read about some kids swimming in some FL lake or pond and then later that night develop a head ache and the parents give them children's Tylenol to relieve the pain thinking its sun or heat exposure. But the head ache progresses and then the child starts to fade quickly often showing very weak vitals, with sluggish motor skills or even drifting in and out of consciousness.
The parent then takes the child to the ER and they do tests looking for all sorts of possibilities.
But they don't seem to add up swimming in very warm lake water with an amoeba infection. The amoeba have burst in the unusually warm fresh water and enter usually through the child's nose and eyes and migrate into the brain and begin attacking the brain often doing very serious or even fatal damage.
So maybe ask yourself, is that lake water really unusually warm or even like bath water warm?
It just might be experiencing an amoeba bloom and don't go swimming. If you do, watch for the symptoms and any signs of head ache, sluggishness, dizziness, blurred vision, or even fainting or loss of consciousness.
There are probably a lot of other details I have left out. This is just what I remember hearing and reading about, tragically once or twice a Summer during the hottest weather.

Greater than 50% of the episodes she is at a place with a bed and food. I think she hikes 25% of the trail and slack packs, or zeros some place, the rest of the time.

Sorry. Love Kelly but hiking from trail, to town, to resupply, to hotel room, back to trail is monotonous. Rather see more of true trekking where you carry all your supplies for 10 days. Thru hiking reminds me of college road trip without a car.
