I love that your cows are on grass a lot. Here in the US, our Holstein cows are on concrete so much and it's so hard on their feet. On our dairy we have to have a hoof trimmer come out and work on cows' feet. Some of the poor girls can hardly walk. Your cows look so robust and healthy!
I know that feeling " I'm trying to get a few days away before the onslaught starts" each mid August here in the uk with 280 autumn calvers due by mid Nov, heavily loaded for September. Hope you made the most of it mate!!
Hi Andrew-yes I agree with your father ,on 2 different occasions we had slips after jabbing the cows with lepto vaccine so have gone to spring time as it is an annual vaccine
No coccidiostat in Fiber gain I think. We used it, calves loved it but meal better, maybe use Fiber later. We lost two and don't usually lose calves. Check with the vet maybe.

Hi I like your video
Great looking herd hope you had a great break with family
Thanks! Great time away recharging the batteries
Geesh you've some Scottish weather going on there sir... 😮😊.. hope the wee break was good for you all.. stay safe 🏴
Yes lovely break and good to recharge the batteries
That weather is like ireland in november.
Great video Andrew, I always lepto jab end of September to avoid slips.
We do the same with the lepto get the vet in, I did know we could do it our self. Also we lepto just after dry off everything seemed fine. Great video
Way easier I reckon, fair enough, do you ever get any that slip? its one of those things aye, you either get a bad experience or it never happens haha
Half expecting your cows to knock over your bike!
Yeah I wish he left the camera rolling another minute there.
haha yeah they do on the odd occasion. these bikes are terrible if they fall over as well, they get flooded way easier
Hope you and the family enjoyed your break away Andrew. You certainly came back to calving blitz from the looks of your Instagram. 😂
Haha yes I did! upto almost 50 now. Thanks had a good wee break, batteries are recharged

Theres something about it aye!
How long is your shortest day? Here in Canada the days are pretty long this time of year but in December the darkness can get pretty old
Yeah I bet! I think were I am its roughly 8 hours of daylight and then down in the south its a lot shorter again obviously
I think these heifers are the ones that were born when I started watching your channel. How old are they?
Yes they would be! they are having there 2nd birthday at the moment
@@TheOnceADayFarmer Actually Andrew I think I have been following you for longer than that!
In Ireland our vets advise to vaccinate for lepto 4weeks before mating
ideal!
Hi automatic calves
You guys will have calving soon and then comes the milking.
Yep next video has calves in it
You're lucky. Our vets are £120/hr plus call out fee. No one gets the vet to vaccinate in the UK
Lepto vaccine in NZ is a veterinarian or vet technician use only vet medicine (ACVM).
Fair enough! thats pretty expensive
Interesting about the lepto vaccine, maybe not so safe and effective. Is it a vaccine if it's every year too?
I guess it is, we have to have it and Im pretty sure theres only the one option
When will you be doing merch 🤔
Why? NZ Farmer would be too busy to handle merchandise.
Merch is a hard one, would be too worried it all didn't sell and then it would end up costing me money but something i would like to do!
@TheOnceADayFarmer yeah I get you, but there's alot of people who would buy it, it's extra work but it's something from you and the farm

Thats the only thing that worries me, I was meaning to ask them about it or if they could add it.
