Another great review Luke and super helpful having them all side by side. Happy new year to you. Thanks for all your work with your reviews. Love your relaxed style. Cheers!
I don’t know if this would interest Luke, but I’d love to watch a tutorial and/or review of CMRX systems, including recommendations for different uses (budgets, sophistication/complexity, applicability, etc.).
Hello Luke. Regarding the amount of lighting control apps on a film set. You're absolutely right, the number of ways to control light has exploded... and the learning curve is steep. On a normal day, I have at least. 3 apps running.. black-out, astera-next, sidus-link app. So I completely agree with you that there are bids "cleaned up" in the amount of controls. Maybe there is an episode there.. ? Anyway.. I've been using lunabulbs since August and must say they are here to stay in my world.. Thanks for your episodes, it's always good to hear other points of view, about equipment, in our "little world.." Cheers here from Denmark. Dose
Good to hear the Lunas are fitting in well. I’m looking forward to getting them into the regular workflow from here on out! My wife and I love coming across Danish shows. We watched the first 4 seasons of Sygeplejeskolen. Looking forward to finding seasons 5 & 6 when they make it to a streaming service near us. It’s not Game of Thrones, but more our speed😅
@@meetthegaffer Wow lovely lovely - didn´t know our little "drama light" show made it to the US. FYI the first 5 seasons of "Sygeplejeskolen" is shot on 100% location, seasons 6 and 7(we finished filming that last October ) is shot on stage. It turned out that our location was going to be rebuild as apartments and as you know it´s a hassle filming on a building site.. I have some pictures if you want to see the studio setup. Luna bulbs have made it a lot into seasons 6 and 7 see if you can spot them 😎. (I know , I might be banned , but just between us - I never watched Game of Thrones 🤭)
Wait, you worked on the show? Would you be willing to be subject to an interview? I would love to see BTS and have you talk about it. I may be banned from my own channel, but I have not seen more than one episode of GOT either. Slow Horses, sure! Everyone has their own tastes and thresholds🙂
You can pick up a set of 8 for under $50. Just search for NYX bulb bouncer. You can also try the Nanlite PavoBulb bouncers which have the option to make the coverage variable.
I saw the LunaBulbs at Profusion in Toronto, and liked them a lot. First time I got hands on. But to be honest, there seems to be a lot of missed opportunities for this. For starters, the 8 bulb box is huge. I get that the control box is built in there. but it's so heavy and unnecessarily large. Secondly, the remote and such kinda stink. So you need the box to control them. And you need crmx to control them. I know there is the bluetooth astera app i think? but I didn't get a chance to use it. For me, I would only want 4 of these. It would be awesome if astera made a stand alone female bulb control unit for programming them, so that you didn't need the 8 bulb box.
Without having the opportunity to use them with any regularity until now, I thought the same thing, that it would be handy to have a socket that can be attached to the roving power station you get with the NYX kit. On the other hand, once you get into a groove with them I’m sure they will fit into your workflow as others have said. Tomorrow I’ll be using all the NYX and LUNA bulbs I have, so looking forward to getting in some reps😀 I’m not worrying about the size and weight of the box. They worked great today! I love the smaller size for more compact fixtures.
Thank you Luke for making this Comparison Video!

Yes, high time to do an update on this. Thank you for the recommendation.
Thanks Luke! You're a great teacher.
Nice comparison. Happy New Year Luke!

Happy New Year Luke !!!
Right back at you!
Is there any way to buy one of the bounce cards shown at 3:02 or is the only option to make your own?
You can purchase the Nanlite version from Adorama or B&H. It called a Nanlite PavoBulb Bouncer with suction cup. ~$10
So how does the Aputure fare??
Anyone know where to buy those little white disks with the suction cup to put ontop of the bulb?
Those are an astera product

@ Awesome! Thank you so much!
When a simple bulb test has Gordon Willis vibes 😊
Ha, ha!
