Most Tales franchise games do have additional fights, story, etc. In New Game + ...
The grade shop is there for you to customize your NG+ and choose what does/doesn't carry over.
9:40 I'm sorry, Laser Swords?...
LASER SWORDS?!?!
HOW DARE YOU!!!
George Lucas has called them laser swords.
Anakin Skywalker has called them laser swords.
Star Wars Rebels haa called them laser swords.
Batman Arkham Knight's Gold Emblem suit that is only available after you beat the game at 240% completion
Wait, I thought the auto pickup option was just an option you can toggle and not a ng+. Im sure I changed it after I looked through the options.
The "extra settings" menu that it's in only unlocks after you've finished the game. Unless they've since patched it into the regular settings now
Regarding the red lightsaber in Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor: No, the ability to change your lightsaber to red is not canonically gained at the end of the story of the first game. Cal never picks up a red lightsaber in the story and is never seriously tempted to fall for the dark side. The red lightsaber and inquisitor outfit only appear in a horrifying vision of a possible future that could happen if he were to gather the force-sensitive children named in the holocron to try and rebuild the Jedi Order (in the vision, the Empire finds their hideout, captures them and then the Inquisitors torture the children to break Cal to give in and become an Inquisitor himself). While you can equip that outfit and red light saber in new game+, it remains a non canon gimmick feature that clashes with the actual story, just as much (or even more) as e.g. wearing a wooky fur suit or a clown costume would. Thus it makes absolute sense to lock those cosmetics behind new game+ in both games.
Of course you could argue that games shouldn't take their story too seriously and should allow players to goof around to their heart's content from the first minute of playing. That goes for silly cosmetic items as well as doing story-breaking things like kicking the annoying NPC the game prevents us from attacking, going on pointless rampages or walking around wrecking stuff for fun. But whether a game wants to allow players to do this or not is also an artistic choice. If you are annoyed that the devs want you do experience the story as intended and would prefer to goof around, you can always go play lego star wars instead. ;-)
Red lightsabers are not forbidden to Jedi but it is frowned upon since it is considered unnatural.
@@zachtwilightwindwaker596 I didn't mean that he couldn't theoretically use a red lightsaber despite being a Jedi. I meant he didn't acquire one in the story and he had no reason to use a red lightsaber in the story. He gets a new kyber crystal in Illum at one point, but the mission makes a strong point that Jedi are supposed not to pick just any crystal, but to pick one that resonates with them in the force. If Cal felt specifically drawn to a red crystal at that point, it would have been a plotpoint of him drifting towards the dark side, since red crystals do canonically resonate best with dark side users.
i would like the option of an outro
With regards to the Grade shop in Tales games - if you manage a battle badly (and it's not always 100% clear why a fight was badly rated) it can return negative grade. Even if you always get positive grade, it rewards grinding which you may or may not regards as a good thing.
NG+ in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is , notoriously, paywalled, so you not only have to complete the game for NG+ but then pay to unlock the mode.
One thing that should be added to some games on NG+ is making unskipable cutscenes skipable since they no longer serve their purpose.
It's half the reason I struggled to go back to The Evil Within as the first 30 minutes is basically just a button control tutorial and pointless for a hardmode or "Akumu" run.
True.
Some games let you even skip the entire intro/tutorial, at New Game+
@@BETMARKonTube
Yep it drives me insane sitting through a tutorial that's obselete.
All Metal Gear Solid games definitely need this addition and some Resident Evil games too.
I agree with the way you got the bandanna by resisting the torture and the stealth camouflage by giving in. It felt more fulfilling earning it, to me, back in the day.
10 Video Games That'll Translate Well In Adult Animation like Eternal Champions Rumble Roses Total Overdose and Black and Bruised
The extreme violence isn't canon in Eternal Champions
The Easy & Challenge Mode features in Black 2 and White 2 aren’t typically New Game Plus features. You need to unlock them in the other game by catching either Regirock or Regice in the post game to get a key that will unlock Easy Mode or Challenge Mode. They would’ve worked if Black 2 and White 2 had multiple save files, but they don’t.
What is with the MGS camo for an entry? It makes the game stupidly easy. Why would it be included at the start? It’s far from an “accessibility” feature and I have no idea why you would say it is. That’s like saying “infinite ammo is an accessibility feature”
Agreed. Overpowered gamebreaking features like this MUSTN'T be in any good challenging game from the start (except possibly in a super easy story mode difficulty, which makes it absolutely clear that you don't play the game as intended and won't be challenged if you select it). If it makes sense to have them for a new game+ mode is debatable. Arguably a new game plus mode should rather have additional challenges to keep a seasoned player who already beat the game once engaged, but still a broken overpowered feature can make sense to allow the player to skip through already known tedious sections to get to the scenes he liked best more quickly. But if such a feature just appeared in the normal game mode, players and critics would say the game design is unbalanced.
I was gonna say the same thing bro....like how is it even on this list???
Makes no sense that this is on the list at all. It's meant to make the replay more fun is all. The only way I could see saying this should have been in the main playthrough is if they had a flawed version you could find. Something that is nullified by chaff grenades or something, then in New Game + making it a perfect version.
Yeah I was confused at that entry. Why would the devs immediately give you a literally game breaking item on your first run?
literally came down here to say this...
I've got a really random question that has absolutely nothing to do with this video but I've always wondered,if a computer or something can overheat then could it undercool?
I think that’s the same as overheating. If it undercools it wouldn’t cool enough to keep the heat. Now if it overcooled- 🤯
If you manage to find one that does, you might have cold fusion on your hands
It's overheating BECAUSE it's under cooling.
I think if it's overheating it is definitely undercooling
I'll resist saying the same joke already said and give a more serious answer. Technically yes, you can "underheat" a computer's components. Its something that's really only possible when doing extreme overclocking using liquid nitrogen. Too much too quickly can freeze surrounding components which can make it stop working, but also not insulating necessary components where condensation can build up from the extreme temperature differences. Too much condensation means liquid gets into the electronics and fries it.t
I agree with everything but the camo in mgs, that would completely have ruined the game to have it in making it ridiculously easy and trivial. Why not just put god mode from the start in every game and make it boring?
i miss the days where you could get bonus stuff if you had save data from previous titles of a game series
I can’t believe you mentioned the “Senate hearing” when talking about Final Fantasy 7! 😮😂
Every one of her videos, I see the American McGee's Alice next to a statue of a character that looks super familiar but I can never figure out who it is. Now the decor is different and there is an XBOX light now.
I guess I won't be distracted by the background anymore, but still always wondered who that character was.
that would have been my tali or the original cyberpunk thing i THINK, im in temporary accom at the moment :)
can’t remember what game but there was one where about 40% of the rest of the game was behind new game+ so to speak as you just could not get a certain item on your first play through to get to an area that continued the adventure for another 20+ish hours.
The original god of war games and the costume system. I loved it so much. “Zeus! The COD of war has come to end you!”
Jess, the cat tree implies a cat. Now we need to see said cat. How many paws up do games get?
Nice new cat tower Jess!
Dope, the host has the exact same cat tree that I have
that moment when the hosts background is more entertaining than the content
Another title for this video. " i dont like games with replayability"
Trust me this channel has won the award for missing the point multiple times
The Horizon face paints were accessible before ng+. You just had to know where to buy them 😂
That setting in rebirth is there at the start I turned it on when I first started
Premium Adventure is not NG+ in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise, it's just a post game time killer. Because if you really played the game there is nothing left to do in Premium Adventure, besides picking fights with thugs and playing one of the many minigames for the millionth time. But you can still level up or farm materials/equipment or money and then create a NG+ save file with your Premium Adventure data.
No mention of the Baku The Voiceless shop in Ghost Of Tsushima is shocking. Why isn't that available in the main game to begin with?!
i’m not sure why but every persona game i’ve played locked the optional superboss behind ng+. elizabeth and margaret were the same
the orange lightsaber is were its at honestly
Back in my day, Final Fantasy used to make us by heels and pure’s and any other item we wanted one at a time
Well, in tales if Xillua 2 they gave your protagonist a voice..
"FF7 Rebirth is full of padding."
Well, I, for one, am shocked. 🤣
This isn't New Game Plus stuff but why the hell is Symphony of the Night not available at the start of the PSP Castlevania Rondo of Blood Collection? Some people rather play that instead of Rondo of Blood. It's kind of tricky to unlock too. You need to know where it is hidden and play through a somewhat challenging game to get it. Using Maria makes things easier. Unlocking Maria is easier than unlocking the games.
Stopped taking the list seriously after MGS Stealth suit
Everything from MGS on was just whiney “but I don’t want to play the game” nonsense.
💯💯💯💯.....it shouldn't have even been on this list....
With metal gear solid it's explained the stealth is made by Hal and you only meet him in game
Now that you've read this and are at New Video+, you've unlocked:
- Not wanting to watch this video again
- Annoyance at a number of the elements here
Seriously, this was VERY low quality content. And I'm highly displeased at whoever wrote this. Too bad we can't unlock the writer once we finish the video.
The frickin grade shop dude...Abyss became so annoying when I found out about that
I don't believe someone talked about Shin Megami Tensei 1 and 2. This brings back memories from SNES and the 90s. Such great games.
Still mad there’s no NG+ for CP77.
You know what, I agree with you on pretty much all of these. Games should come with all content unlocked from the start. Better yet, they should take out all of the bosses and difficult sections, and the fiddly bits where you have to control the character. And all trophies should pop when you start the game. Who are these arrogant game Devs who expect people to actually have to put in work to unlock stuff?
That is quite the cat tree.
Jess, your hair is on point. No lie!!!
On my third playthrough of Persona 5 Royal, I did it in 59 hours.
Raging that auto-collection isn't in the first play of rebirth. It's winding me up
"It's a lot of times, even for persona!" Nervously looking at my three completes of Persona 4 Golden, four of Persona 5 and two of Persona 5 Royal
I like that yellow Poster in the background. What is that?
me and my cat
Wait.
Let me stop you there for a second.
*METAL GEAR SOLID* has a point.
Everyone can beat that game, but if they gave the players the option to unlock the stealth cammo at their first playthrough, those would have been tempted to cheat their way out to the end and lose the unique experience that game offers.
("unique" at the time, of course)
Is instead a good reward (as the unlimited ammo) for the players who worked hard to reach the end and that now just wanted to play again, with less effort and just enjoy the story.
Honestly I wish New Game+ also had more story inclusions if it's something that's like an adventure of some kind. So added missions, dialogue, lore, etc is added in could make things fun. Although maybe not a dozen different endings that have to be extremely meticulously found and implemented like in Silent Hill, Elder Tale, Nier: Automata, Personas various games, etc. Lol
If there aren't any new story elements or anything else that *substantially* enriches the players' experience in a New Game+ mode, then imho, it's just as much a waste of time as all those stupid, ridiculous achievements that Steam offers for every game. And even if there is something to be seen on the 2nd run, for types like me, who try to see as much as possible of a game in their first run, most of the time there really isn't much incentive to redo countless hours, just to get a tiny bit of more detail about the characters.
@@stephanhuebner4931 Which is why I usually avoid certain long story games or ones that have a particular number of alternative endings like Persona or Nier: Automata.
@@trailblazerlazerrazerd9027 I hear you. I'm trying to find out such things beforehand as well, particularly for long games. And if it can't be avoided, i.e. the game is too good, I just watch the alternative endings on UA-cam. 😀
Somebody did some spring cleaning.
just temporary digs! ill be back to the maximalist hellscape of my last background eventually lol
Ender Lilies had its difficulty slider (among other things) locked behind clearing the game first, which was just so stupid. Making the game harder is one thing, but you shouldn't be locking makin it easier behind clearing the game first.
I could only dream of having hair as good as Jess 😭💜
bless you you are too kind
@@jessmcdonell 💜
From number 7 onwards “don’t make me actually play this game” 🙃
Pressing triangle to pick up items is just too harsh. It's padding and a horrible slog.
You should just select a chapter and instant-unlock everything.
That’s what a lot of these items and features are: things you can’t get until after you finish the game (sometimes twice), do everything, and now you have it, but don’t need it. 😕
That's one of the more ridiculous possibilities: Force the player to become an expert in the game to give them something afterwards they don't need anymore precisely because they had to get good to get them in the first place.
Red lightsabers are not forbidden for Jedi to use but it is frowned upon because it is unnatural.
Hello everyone 😂.
Miles morales is certainly not 7 to 8 hours long, upon doing everything you can do 1st time through took me 15 hours ,considerably shorter on playthrough 2 due to being powered up ,
Day 12 of asking for 'Games where the bad ending is the canon ending'. Please include Shadow Hearts series.
This gotta be one of the most complainy lists put together on the Channel. Bruh. Sometimes yall gotta play the game. Yall complain when the game MTXs yall and says hey let us unlock it. Then comes the games where you can unlock it and we get a headass list like this
Also, for the Persona 5 one. You don't need to do a NG+ for the secret final boss. You just have to get maxed out affinity with 3 specific characters.
If you DONT do it. The game LETS YOU KNOW to do a NG+ so you now know there is a secret ending if you do things right.
You guys do hate replayable games lol
They also apparently hate doing research and almost always have something factually wrong with at least one of the games discussed
@@Wolfqueen007 totally. I keep watching them less and less as time goes by. It feels like they just needed a list for x due date and what you just said happens..
The MGS entry was ridiculous lmao 😂 might as well ask for infinite ammo while you are at it. It should be a feature right? According to your own logic.
What would be the point of having the stealth camo immediately? If you just want the story, not the game....watch a playthrough or a cutscene compilation. Why buy the game, at that point?
ALSO< THE GRADE SHOP HAS TO EB NEW GAME PLUS CAUSE U HAVE ZERO GRADE AT THE START, do some research into the franchise
Judging a game made in the 90s with modern sensibilities like why doesn't it have accessibility features is like going to ancient Rome and asking hey why don't you guys have trains it would make getting around a lot easier
Today's edition of missing the point the stealth camo destroys the game if you had it at the beginning what would even be the point of playing the game to begin with. Also the whole just experiencing the plot thing sorry news flash both let's plays exist and there's a Metal gear solid motion comic which tells you pretty much the definitive story of metal gear solid 1 if you just want the story that's probably the best way to go
Jessica is such a beautiful Queen ❤👑
Ok, to defend persona 5, that boss is worse than some FFX dark aeons, and dam near impossible without 1 of like 3 specific set ups that youd have to follow a guide to do on run 1.
Definitely not the worst offender, but I find it really annoying when the best ending for a game is locked behind New Game Plus. Like, if it's a shorter game, it's not as big of a deal, but if it's like 40+ hours long... no. Just no.
10 obvious clone cash grabs from major studios. Example Prince of Persia: the Lost Crown and ZAU. Both are just the same game in a different skin. Both by Ubisoft and I can't help but feel angry about it.
As someone who owns both games. No, not even a little. I don't think you played either.
I mean. .persona series has always done this? It isn't a new thing. 😅
The Metal Gear Solid is just wrong, starting with the camo would only lessen the whole experience and the essence of a "stealth" game.
I know you're not going to talk about this because who the hell talks about super robot wars except me down in the comments section so I might as well say it super robot wars W the true final boss is hidden behind new game plus
Clicked on this video cuz Aloy is the thumbnail
DUEL ME YOU COWERED
Half of these are basically. “I don’t want to actually interact with this game I paid money for.” If all you want is a story, watch a video. You don’t want to experience the actual intended experience that everyone who made that game spent so much effort on, nope. Just gimme, gimme gimme. Want everything cool up front, screw earning something, Gave you money now gimme!
Some of these make perfect sense. FF7Rebirth and the items are an insult.
Face paint in HZD was an afterthought probably and added in a later patch? Still dumb.
Not being able to change you Clothes? Dumb.
black and white 2 was freaking easy on its own, so meh
Clearly you don't understand so let me explain. New game + is for ADDITIONAL enjoyment and gameplay.
GIVE HER OPTIONS DONT MAKE HER BEG
Uh make MGS stealth camo available from the beginning?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That would completely trivialize and make pointless the entire idea of the gameplay. Hence, why this is a reward for beating the game. If you can’t figure out how to sneak in MGS, you don’t deserve to play it.
Did Jess get a cat?!
A while ago now. Has even been seen in the odd video, or on a somewhat regular basis over on her Twitch.
for about a year :) her name is karma
funny how these are console games, its as if they want you to be on them more then making good games
There's only one final fantasy 7 and it's not rebirth so I don't care that you've got trolled.
Why do game journalists never wanna play to work towards anything? Some of these are ok but some you should HAVE to work for.
Which one of these should you have to work for? I’m just curious is all.
@@jamescox4008 anything like the Stealth bandana or major game altering settings. Play the game normally first.
My guess would be the metric tons of content they are required to play in very short time frames so they can make videos letting all of those out there know the contents of said games.
@@ChagrinElectric yeah, but walking through everything without a challenge, being detected, or fights other than bosses would give you no idea of how the game actually plays. No idea of the difficulty curve or how any of those key factors of the game actually effect the game.
@leebratina1089 My issue isn't the "cliff notes" version of game play they show, but the scummy idea of hiding content from the players. I don't mean Easter eggs and secrets, I mean mechanics meant to help some players acclimate to the game play itself. Some people want the highest possible challenge. Others just want to play for the stories and lore. I think we can all agree that hiding modes meant for beginners after completion is just shitty.
Mgs doesn't belong on this list. This video needed padding I guess.
I literally told my buddy who happened to be next to me, that asking for that "Is something a bitch would ask for" xD
Miles Morales made the bigger mistake of keeping the platinum trophy for completion of a new game plus run. It's almost as if they knew their game wasn't worth the price they were asking for so they basically forced completionists to double their playtime.
Hello
I'm first
That has to be one of the dumbest take I've ever heard. That you should be able to start with, not use a cheat code that you had to find or figure out, BE ABLE TO START WITH the camo from MGS, an item that takes away the challenge for the majority of the game. Get out of here with that nonsense
Is she for real? The stealth camo in MGS is an ultimate reward for beating the game which makes it a breeze the second time. Why on earth would you want to start the game with it???? Is swear this channel gets worse and worse.
Wow i cant realy agree with your opinions on this one guys.... Some of it maybe, but this is how they get you to play the game more than once... You guys really are dullards
