It seems like a good game. The thing that disappoints me is the lack of more dynamic animations for combat and parkour. This is especially because the movie had a lot of great choreography that displayed how the Navi moved and fought. I was actually shocked that the only melee besides ranged is a goofy punch / slide animation and a single mech takedown animation. I expected it to have both stealth and combat takedowns galore. Especially because you go down pretty quick and stealth is very simplistic, it wouldn’t be imbalanced to have you able to do takedowns if you get close enough. It should have tapped into that fast paced horizon 2 combat style. I think this is why people would have preferred 3rd person. It’s weird how the hunting and scavenging has detail but the combat is pretty much point and shoot.

This might be one of my favorite Ubisoft games. The Avatat universe aside, this game feels great. It’s stunning, organic, not guided too much, and is definitely not the type of game that’s made to rush. It’s the perfect game to free your mind and simply enjoy it
Those arrows *should* absolutely wreck humans, remember relative to their size they are more like spears than arrows to them. Can’t wait to play this tonight. Right there with you on takedown animations though, I was really disappointed when I realized the pulling a guy out of mech is the only one. I don’t mine no melee weapons but atleast give use some takedown animations with our hands and maybe even knife. Those are generally pretty easy for them to do also, relative to say designing full on melee combat. Maybe they’ll add some one day…there are 2 dlcs planned.
This is a beautiful game and does have some feel of the later Far Cry games. However so far (I am only a few hours into the game so take my first early impression with a grain of salt) it doesn't have the emotional involvement or "want to keep playing" factor of Ubisoft's best games ever, that is Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4. I love exploring Pandora but the initial learning curve and character and weapon developments, and putting it all together, so far initially, isn't as fun to a casual player like me. Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 6 were disappointments to me because Ubisoft, in my opinion, forgot what made a game fun to play. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is NOT a Far Cry. For now I'm putting it back on the shelf and when I have more time for the character and weapon developments I'll probably continue playing it. NOTE: I know, don't end a sentence with "it" but I did.
First of all, thank you for the early review very well structured. I am still on fence on buying the game, since far cry is not that good anymore, but Destiny 2 taught me something, the game is definitely not perfect, but the visuals and the gameplay itself made me a fan of that game, so this game does not look bad at all, i guess i´ll still wait for a discount :)
I've played 5 hours of the game so far. The environment, sound design, and graphics are amazing. The game really makes you feel immersed in Pandora. Combat is fun, intense, and challenging....it is similar to far cry but feels more refined. The AI enemies seem to be more intuitive than the other fry cry games and it is extremely satisfying to use the bow to knock off humans. The story is just okay, but it does fit in with the Avatar movies. Your character is pretty generic and not really that interesting, which is kind of a letdown. Also, the dialogue and voice acting are pretty lame in this game. Its not the worst, but it could have been so much better. But overall.this game is a solid 8 out of 10, and I would highly recommend it. The environment and combat is the most immersive since ubisoft released far cry primal
The only thing is, I’m a sucker for companions and primal introduced companions to Ubisoft games in which you could either use them for battle or ride them and that was really cool, I know this doesn’t have any though unfort but you can ride them.
I played the whole game it’s pretty fun if you like story modes but it ok when it come to exploring by yourself but it can be difficult if your a bit younger.
I think this looks really cool, almost a primal sequel, which is what I'm really after. But a bit rinse and repeat so I'll leave for a while until Im feeling the need for a far cry game
You have a rtx 3080 which has just 10gb of vram. Thats not enough for 4k and its barely enough for 1440p. Whats likely happening is you're running out of vram at 4k since 4k uses a lot of vram and that causes stutters in some parts of the game. This game also uses ray tracing in all settings preset, thats why its so heavy and thats why it looks so good. I'd say ubisoft did good optimization this time around. I'm gonna have to try it myself to see how good they did.
I'm interested in it I was not a fan of assains creed mirage more disappointed with the combat im not good at stealth. But a big far cry fan up to 4 were great. Also loved the movie and I think I will probably enjoy this.

It wouldn’t be as egregious if every other open world developer (including even Sony) didn’t also use this same formula in their games. It gets oversaturated. Even games like Ghost of Tsushuma, Spiderman, or Horixon all had the ‘bandit camp’ equivelant. Spiderman 2018 even had radio towers. Personally I’m fine with this. not to mentioned with Just Cause franchise, newer Far Cry games recently are having this weird hybrid of explodable targets in their outposts to copy Just Cause. Which isn't a bad idea however Far Cry 3 still have the best out posts because of how.. natural and not flat they felt. Not even Far Cry 4 felt as natural as 3's outposts, 3 is the one thing even Speed runners return to the most, because the game design feels THAT good.

I loved the Avatar movies, but the feel of Farcry just puts me off, the first Farcry was good, but the following Farcry games were just crap. There are things i think they could have done to make the game more enjoyable, like combat, the way they have made it work is when facing the RDA use their guns against them, using bows and arrows are a no-no, but when hunting, use bows and arrows.....why do we have to use RDA weaponry at all? didn't the Na'vi say in the beginning the arrows pierce metal, but the more danagerous enemies are NOT the mechs, it is the individual humans, who use smaller guns, but somehow do far more damage than a mech can possibly do. Its like, i took out a gas refinery, it had 4 mechs, 4 humans and 4 turrets, the 4 humans did more damage than the 4 mechs and the 4 turrets combined and for reference, i play on low difficulty for the story, but the obscene power of the humans are insane, they need toning down. The only other option is to make stealth more easier to do, cause so far, i have yet to see any ounce of stealth working, the creatures you, even when you are behind them and the moment you fire one single arrow, even if you kill the one you are aiming at, the rest automatically know where you are and if you move, regardless of line of sight, they will know your new location. It is like they have a built-in GPS of your location, but are programmed not to act on it, until you initiate combat or they get line of sight. The only good aspects are how it looks, how it runs and that it is Avatar....the rest is just subpar so far.
Prices of games are becoming a problem for most (myself included ) when it comes to mediocre games ,Yes Pandora looks beautiful, the graphics look stunning in the world .graphics are second when it comes to gameplay mechanics .and the gameplay looks a feels just mediocre and that hard to justify paying up to £70 too £100 for the game if it’s just mediocre and repetitive and basic with its game mechanics .game developers need to concentrate more on the mechanics and gameplay rather than the graphics. Ubisoft you need to up your thinking in this regarding your formula for game, mechanics has become stale .
I just gotta say: Priya is one of the most annoying characters ive had to interact in a video game for a long time, i dont understand what makes a writer think its a good thing to have a mission critical character with severe "im talking to myself out loud" syndrome with jokes that even a 5 year old wouldnt laugh at. Then again, its a typical Ubisoft "haha funny" character. Other than that its been okay i guess.
What’s funny is when people say “it’s basically Far Cry” I get excited, Far Cry is by far my favorite shooter franchise of all time so the fact that this game is basically that makes me want to buy it even more!……when I’m not poor anymore lol
There should be an update to the game for 3rd person. They’re should be melee weapons. They have a spear weapon but it’s a sling shot. They missed out with the third person especially when traversing through the trees could’ve added parkour type movements and vibes to swing from. Would’ve been nice to have different enemy types like other Navi who actually side with the RDA. Like the ones who were raised by the rda but turned them into soldier or rda in avatar bodies that are genetically engineered. Could’ve even added maybe something similar to the nemesis system like they did in the later AC GAMES. they missed out on quite a bit.
so you have played avatar frontiers of pandora oh really, i didn't know that and i didn't need to known that these first impressions videos are garabge, they are just marketing, i have never seen a first impressions video rip a game apart, they will never say the game is looking bad in any of these impressions videos no matter how bad it is remember cyberpunk guys, everyone basically didn't say a word on a pre patched zero day cyberpunk, wtf
Controversial take but I actually like the Ubi recipe. At least I can always expect decent games that work properly with them..which can’t be said about CD projekt red, Bethesda, activision, EA..I mean hell..not being disappointed should be Ubisofts strength cause they’re the only ones who don’t disappoint..they never innovate, sure, but they also hardly disappoint.
I really want to like your stuff, i really do. But you talk in questions. Every sentence seems to end in a question. I always just want to smash my phone 😂😂😂. I know its not meant to, its just the way you talk. Are you a valley girl. Like for real 😂😂. But in the end you do you.
I was so close to pre ordering until the review video i was watching mentioned how they punish run and gun play style and emphasized stealth approaches to bases. Yet, there is zero melee weapons, no stealth kill animations and the uppercut one punch broke the entire world for me. I cannot spend hours exploring, on the edge of my seat in a beautiful world only to come across a base and have a rando npc spot me from 300 meters away after stealth uppercutting his homie in the back of the head and having him do some generic ragdoll effect. Also, the story and most every story to every game will be meh for the foreseeable future because they are being written by woke dei college grads who are confused about their gender and zero real world life experience. At the time when technology can make games so great in beautiful, they have to be ruined by dumb people.
You dont like this game. You are wasting time comparing it to Farcry and the simple things like world immersion. You know this game is bad. You have not enjoyed it. Its just pretty. If all that glamour was gone, this game would be a solid 4 or 5. These mechanics came from.so many other games Bouncing off flowers and such. This is Zelda, Mario, Pikman, Farcry Primal etc mechanics just better graphica Snowdrop engine is amazing. The game just isnt good. A.I doenst offer a real challenege. No new mechanics. No memorable enemies or gear or missions. Not good.

Red dead redemption 2 bow was good
Prices of games are becoming a problem for most (myself included ) when it comes to mediocre games ,Yes Pandora looks beautiful, the graphics look stunning in the world .graphics are second when it comes to gameplay mechanics .and the gameplay looks a feels just mediocre and that hard to justify paying up to £70 too £100 for the game if it’s just mediocre and repetitive and basic with its game mechanics .game developers need to concentrate more on the mechanics and gameplay rather than the graphics. Ubisoft you need to up your thinking in this regarding your formula for game, mechanics has become stale .
More.
Yes , just a bit more details , Ubisoft game will be so great , they just choose don't do that.
Not worth 70 buck. Ill wait once it hit like 30-40 since most ubisoft games goes on sale in few months.
No review?
looks like far cry with smurfs, i suspect its just going to be another generic ubisoft game
Yo
Ubisoft a one trick pony of a company
does this guy have a 4k Moniter???
I wish it wasnt first person
Could’ve even added maybe something similar to the nemesis system like they did in the later AC GAMES. they missed out on quite a bit.
wowzah
Farcry Primal reskin :P
If you don't have 100h into a game then Don't speak about it until you reach that amount of time into a game
Story is better than far cry 6 at least?
It’s good I like it. I don’t listen to negative side of things with reviews. Thanks for the wholesome video 👍
That's not something to brag about and says alot about how well you handle dissenting opinions
so you have played avatar frontiers of pandora
oh really, i didn't know that and i didn't need to known that
these first impressions videos are garabge, they are just marketing, i have never seen a first impressions video rip a game apart, they will never say the game is looking bad in any of these impressions videos no matter how bad it is
remember cyberpunk guys, everyone basically didn't say a word on a pre patched zero day cyberpunk, wtf
Will you play the day beofre?
Does every sentence you speak end In a question rather than a statement?..
Looks great and looks stale - hoping it'll break the "Ubi recipe"
Controversial take but I actually like the Ubi recipe. At least I can always expect decent games that work properly with them..which can’t be said about CD projekt red, Bethesda, activision, EA..I mean hell..not being disappointed should be Ubisofts strength cause they’re the only ones who don’t disappoint..they never innovate, sure, but they also hardly disappoint.
No REAL main character in video games it just feel so wrong, it already happen on watch dogs legion, the game have no soul.
It looks painfully mid. Ubisoft is creatively bankrupt.
I'm going pass on this game
I really want to like your stuff, i really do.
But you talk in questions.
Every sentence seems to end in a question.
I always just want to smash my phone 😂😂😂.
I know its not meant to, its just the way you talk.
Are you a valley girl. Like for real 😂😂.
But in the end you do you.
I just hate how large your charater is. I dont want to play as a 12ft tall person shooting miniture humans lol. Its dumb but its why il skip it.
If only i could play as Human. Sorry, im human supremacist 😂
The game is a bore. Stop trying to make it sound anything better than that. It’s simply awful
Honestly he is saying this cuz he can’t say anything bad otherwise he won’t get any play time in the future from Ubisoft 💀
You dont like this game. You are wasting time comparing it to Farcry and the simple things like world immersion. You know this game is bad. You have not enjoyed it. Its just pretty. If all that glamour was gone, this game would be a solid 4 or 5. These mechanics came from.so many other games
Bouncing off flowers and such. This is Zelda, Mario, Pikman, Farcry Primal etc mechanics just better graphica
Snowdrop engine is amazing. The game just isnt good. A.I doenst offer a real challenege. No new mechanics. No memorable enemies or gear or missions. Not good.
Well considering I hated the most recent Far Cry game..i hate Avatar..
First , nah kidding
