It is a hard thing seeing a decline in our tanks, but like you said life happens. Glad to hear you were able to find employment, and to see the reef making improvements.
Sorry to hear all the bad news CJ. That sucks! Tank still looks beautiful with the remaining corals. I say ride with it until everything settles down and you're able to spend the time needed for the the corals that are more sensitive.
Thanks man.. I was bummed for sure but perspective is everything so gonna make the best of what’s left and rebuild in due time. Thanks for tapping in 💯
I had mayhem last June - got the video clips but still haven’t made the video. Everything is fine now but it was nasty at the time. I’m glad things are settling down for you, even if it takes some time to be able to relax. We just have to keep moving forward and pushing through….😎
Hey CJ, I know this must've been difficult to talk about and film, but I appreciate you being real. Hearing about rough patches in the hobby can be really useful, and we probably don't hear about it enough in the hobby (people understandably want to hide their uglies, errors, failures, etc). Looking good moving forward, though. Much love
Took awhile to finally do it but your right it’s invaluable information and helps people know the reality of this hobby. We keep going tho ! Thanks for watching
I’m with yah I grow out and frag my softies to create a full tank. I love my reef tank but I just don’t have that much time/money to spend on all the lps/sps corals and maintenance supplies and equipment. I keep my setup simple. Water Changes and good lighting. Very enjoyable
The simpler a reef system is built, the easier it gets imo. I love all the automations but it disconnects me from my tank and I negelect husbandry. I dont indulge in high end or too pricey corals because it throws me off and I start to worry too much. You can always add more or make changes but for now I‘d hate to see this tank come down. This is by far one of the coolest tanks I have seen. Give it (and yourself) the time it needs. New tank means a lot of work and we always tend to miscalculate the time and effort that goes into it.
I just watched your water storage video yesterday and was wondering when you were going to do an update. Sorry to hear about the bad news. Do not put that fish back in the tank. He ain’t gonna change his ways. You got some nice fish in there. Thanks again.
Sorry to see you lost all your LPS. Having said that, only the one fish loss and the recovery is pretty awesome. Looks like it’s back on the track. Big ups to you for powering through. As far as the job issues, I know the feeling. Laid off in October, still on the hunt…
Bin following you since day one on my journey in the reefing hobby CJ and you always answer your followers questions when you get the chance to .and you always share your wins and loses ,keep up the great work bro 😎 go PACKERS 🧀!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Damn Cj, sorry to hear about the losses. My tank is dealing with issue after issue as well but we’ll get through this. The tank still looks good man. Happy holidays!
CJ, glad this wasn't a sponsored video...I watched the entire thing because of that...two, what in the cup, and three am glad your back on ur feet, from an employment perspective...and four this is the type of video that I like, the REAL LIFE up/down of a really excellent system like urs.
Hobby isn’t cheap so gotta take advantage of business opportunities to offset cost. Be eazy sauce of choice this video is Woodford reserve. Thanks for tapping in I’ll try to mix more videos like this in between sponsored ones 💯
I think u should have another source of filtration like a roller mat. I know you don't like socks or other mechanical filtration but that would be a good redundancy for your skimmer. Sorry for the loss
I use filter pads.. but was just oversight on my end. Usually checked every 2 weeks to clean it.. airline running out wide must have made it go crazy when weather got cold
Man I FEEL everything you’re saying bro. I started up my tank in June and it was doing great for a few months but just like you, around September things went downhill. Lost some very expensive corals, random fish that were thriving started dying. Still trying to find the happy medium with consistency. Work life and family life definitely takes a toll. Felt like getting rid of everything but after a day on thinking on it I’m glad to keep it and just trying to keep figuring it out. Thanks for the update and for relating to most of us out here just trying to have a great tank! Also hope everything works out for you brother.
Dude i hear ya, i have 3 tanks now and its a battle. All 3 tanks can grow diff coral except sps, for the life of me i can't keep them and i want to enjoy this and stop throwing money away on them. LPS and softies is my go to now. I wanted to give up but i just keep fighting the problems, makes us better ppl in general ya know. Plus like you said its nice after work to get to look at your creations and life in the tank. Keep at it homie, we got this. Take care
Sorry to hear about the bump in the road. In that case looking back, would you have waited for the af salt? Or would you have gotten some reef crystals and did the w/c immediately? Tank is looking like it’s bouncing back nicely and the fish look awesome as always
Appreciate the honesty. We live and learn. Your channel got me back into the hobby after a long time away so thank you also for that. Keep doing you, be easy.
I had a bad year last year after making changes (I sold off a ton of frags) and then lost a ton of coral months after. I think big changes mess things up. Lost hammers frogs and torches. Of course my monti’s all survived A year later doing better but now keeping alk up is tough since things are growing Same day different battle
@@CJSAQUARIUMSappreciate that just binged all your videos as I’m upgrading to a bigger tank and getting the same tank as you. Appreciate all the detailed videos and happy to see your not giving up. Good luck this new year looking forward to seeing how it goes.
Sorry that you’ve been through some trials and tribulations CJ both personally as well as the reef tank. Your tank still looks really nice and I think once things do settle down then I’m sure you can make some additions with no issues at all. Keep up the good work.
3 gallon a day WC on such a small system is a waste of money and removing a lot of DOC’s. Try 1 gallon a day. Your coral placements are also odd, most of the soft corals and LPS don’t like getting blasted with that much flow and light…soft corals/LPS live in 20-30 meters deep or deeper, SPS are collected in 5-15 meters. Consider your coral placements using this info.

Yea we gotta keep going, it's a roller coaster.. thanks for checking in 👌🏾
Bummer to hear that you had a coral crash .. I really like your format and how transparent you are ..
keep reefing 🪸!!
Slowly but surely.... Big comeback, hang in there 🤙
I'm glad to know you are still in the hobby. Stay focused, my guy. You got this!

End goal is enjoying the tank so I’m with you!
Yo man been watching you for years! Always kept it real!!! Life gets in the way!!! But just keep on pushing brother!!! Much appreciated
Great update! Glad you’re hanging in there. I love Aquaforest as well, but had to switch to Blue Bucket because none of my LFSs carry Aquaforest.
I also switched to aqua forest
Seems fine and good price.
You should add scolymia coral on the sand bed that would look sick
Sorry you had that rough patch, but it still looks great.
Excited to have a update keep it up brother. Your channel has inspired me to stay in this hobby over the years
My tank is in the same boat right now ! It is suffering of brown jelly desease and already kill 4 torches , 2 hammer and a few sps.

Been with your journey for a while cj. I hope your system can settle out and start to thrive again. It will come around!
Stay with it bro... This hobby challenges!! But this is how we become Pro Reefers 💪🏾

Thanks for the update!✊🏾 Glad it's bouncing back!
Thanks for checking in! Glad to see some people are still following along.
Happy New Year
Glad to see an update. Seems like I'm everybody's slowing down on the videos or completely stopped
Takes a lot of work and time to create content.. I commend the ones that keep a schedule I never have been able to

Take a quick sip of the sauce…
Great update CJ! Happy new year! Your series has been a huge inspiration for my 75 ext build.
Appreciate that, happy new year to you as well! Cheers.
Hi CJ, Great to see you back on! Reefing is a science. We have ups and down. We just need to keep going forward!
Reefing is a journey!
Been with you since the JBJ45
Packer fan?! Sheesh, must be nice... I am stuck with Jerry's Cowboys!!!
Everyone has 🧀 in the fridge you can join the bandwagon 😆👌🏾
No way man, Cowboy fan for life... even though we can't win in the play offs!!!

I think I shoulda just went got some RC and did a mass change. Rolled the dice.. tank went 3/4 weeks waiting for the AF salt
Appreciate the honesty. We live and learn. Your channel got me back into the hobby after a long time away so thank you also for that. Keep doing you, be easy.
I also had a tough Fall season with my tank (cyano). I think things have settled now. This gives me the motivation to keep going.
Only way is forward.. dust yourself off and keep going 💯
Happy Holidays.

Let’s see how this story turns out hopefully the same success you ended with 🫡
I’m so sorry brother but you will get it back
Ah the update! Sorry the Packers lost man.
Don’t feel so bad I’m going to have a redo because of damn aptasia everywhere 🤬for being away and working
CJ - is the return pump a DC pump? Is it loud or relatively quiet?
Yes DC and silent it’s great pump
Can you show us how you made/setup your canopy
Already done… check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/3Vz329PKlI4/v-deo.htmlsi=qBvHaASIGpeJURvc

Do you have the helio heater as a standalone or programmed also with the apex?
It stands alone.. apex on controls power outlet as secondary protection tank over heating
NNNOOOOOOOO CJ your a packers fan
💔😭. You’ll make an LPS comeback.
Do you connect your heater to the apex?
Just plugged into the eb8. Apex is secondary control the Helios is primary
Good to see you
The neptune controller didnt tell you your nutrients were high?
During that time NP was offline bad reagent
You should've just switched salts
I had the same thing happen to me I lost 10 torches 6 hammers and 6-8 acans and I’m still not sure what caused it
Sorry that you’ve been through some trials and tribulations CJ both personally as well as the reef tank. Your tank still looks really nice and I think once things do settle down then I’m sure you can make some additions with no issues at all. Keep up the good work.
