Honestly my favorite part of new sets is seeing how far they can push tap lands. The triomes so far are the only ones that really made it in older formats but these are quite tempting tbh.
Oh, the fact that those duals have types is huge. And I’m VERY excited for No More Lies- finally Wizards has the gall to print an actual good counterspell, even if it is limited to UWx.
The lands! I've been waiting for more non-shocklands that have land types, and these are amazing. I was hoping they would finish the tango lands or the cyclong dual lands, but this is better!
Omg. I feel sooooo old I remember winning a store championship with a morphed grinning demon in a "suicide black" deck. Hahahaha Lol back in my day........ Hahaha
I’m excited for this set! For others who are totally ‘digging the vibes’ of zooming in on Ravnica, LFG! But for myself, I’ll be spending time/money on older sets and GLHF’ing in that way 👍
collect evidence is interesting as a different version of delve, but they really could have picked a better name for it. collect evidence is a mouthful and will definitely never be seen again after this set
I know rotation is still a few months out, but how big of a change will be it? No more Raffine and Wandering Emperor, that's got to be the death of Esper decks, who have all but dominated major tournaments ever since they were legal. I guess Sheoldred becomes THE best card in standard, unless something even more bonkers comes around.
its the same as playing an island facedown as a morph, once it is revealed you will know if your opponent was deceiving you and there are penalties @@GilroyIronheart
I only learned it was a thing this video! Basically you don't have to worry about blocking a morph creature and getting owned in combat by an unmorph for less than five mana, because all of the morphs that change the outcome of battling a 2/2 cost five or more.
@@heavyonthemustardplzOk I gotcha. That's certainly a good rule to have in place, especially in limited. Getting blown out in combat by an unmorphed creature is definitely a "feels bad' moment.
The most annoying part about morphs is that you have to reveal every face down card at the end to prove it was a morphable card. It's not a huge deal but people sometimes forgot to do it and got a warning or dq because of it.
They really missed a beat back in Onslaught not making Morph creatures grizzly bears. Even back then a 2/2 for {2} wasn't anything special. Particularly if they were creatures with no type in a tribal block. Is the morph rule why that new angel is a 4/2? That sucks.
2/2 for 2 mana with no downsides was outside the bounds of what blue/black/red could do at the time, so it was reasonable in Onslaught. I feel like in this era they definitely could have just gone for 2/2s for 2 though, the ward upgrade is really weird
I really dislike the flavour of this set. Detective tribal? So weird to be building armies of detectives. Just doesn't fit with what detectives do. Major flavour fails abound.
Modern now seems like even more of a craphole than before with the new rarelands. Temples are now unplayable which sucks. Fetching into surveil seems kinda degenerate in the right deck
So, you just want core sets? I like games that challenge me and make me learn. Wizards doesn’t dumb down their game and I’m grateful for it. And clearly it isn’t in a “nosedive”

Notably, Long Goodbye ignores ward costs. So you can target Raffine/Graveyard Trespasser without paying their ward.
I'm in love with this set flavor wise at the very least. But I'm very optimistic on how it's going to play out for Limited.

The best about getting a new set is that we also get ten new brews!!

The set is looking really cool, I like the mechanics and the flavor. Better than I expected
Wow those lands. I was hyped because they were better temples, then I realized you could fetch for them. 😮
New Mana Leak is the most exciting spoiler so far, UW Control just got that much scarier in Pioneer
Yeah new Mana Leak with upside is crazy
Together with Lightning Helix looks like Jeskai is back on the menu.
thanks for this quick overview --- I have definitely hit release fatigue, even tho I'm excited for the set. it looks really cool!
This set looks really cool, I'm loving the new mechanics
I am so down for this set. Super excited
Should hopefuly be a juicy goblin deck with the new cards, they are already kinda playable with cards from the current sets.
Honestly this set seems really cool. Alot of new cool abilities and some fun legendary creatures returning.
Massacre Girl, my beloved!
Those tapped lands are nice.
Love cases - side quests + flavor win
I cant wait for the next bronze to mythic. Im gonna have to count how many times Jim will press the “ITS LIGHTNING HELIX! OH MY GOD!” Button
The best soundboard button for sure
Fun set!

Jim Davis Spoiler Season this set? or just a mechanic overview? I always look forward to the full set reviews.
collect evidence is interesting as a different version of delve, but they really could have picked a better name for it. collect evidence is a mouthful and will definitely never be seen again after this set
Well, Kadena just got a lot better. Time to annoy my local playgroup again. 😂

Do older Morph/Megamorphs get the ward 2?
No, different keywords
How does that work? You pay for a face down creature but have to declare if it’s a Morph or a Disguise? And your opponent just has to trust you?

Lots of flavor but soooo many wooords
Wow a complete cycle of lands in one set? Is that even possible?😂
I stopped playing during Khans so I guess I missed the "morph rule". Even though you kinda explained it, I still don't understand the rule.

Bounce off or trade at 4mana flip or less. Eats or trades at 5 or more

So the cases can be activated at any time once the conditions are met?
Based off the text on the cases in this video, they get solved at the beginning of your endstep.
Suspect should have been a role aura
I’m really liking the flavor of this set a lot. Plus I’m sure we can be expecting a goblins deck for TNB…

I love ravnica but none of these mechanics really stand out to me
Males sense why they did Khans in arena. Get people used to morph and the morph rule, plus delve. Prior to dropping this set. Creates familiarity
the "morph rule" is stupid and takes decisions from the players

No more lies - new broken countersplell for azorius. Like they haven't enough.
This set is absolutely garbage. Wizards of the coast needs to put the adults back in charge.

With all these new nonsense mechanics, magic is just doing a huge nosedive south and is just getting ridiculous

You didnt play during time spiral block and it shows
Almost all of these mechanics are returning or slight upgrades of old, long-standing ones lmfao
